I want it to look like the photobooth jpg. My friend had her and her husband's done at a wedding and she put her's up as her fb profile pic. I would ask her but I was hoping you guys knew before I asked her.

[Edited on June 16, 2011 at 8:59 PM. Reason : I want to keep the wedding credit at the bottom too.]

A coworker of mine brother's wedding, he had a video photographer take pics throughout and put them on a CD with music, looked really cool (instead of the typical video tape the whole thing, starting way early in the day until the very end).

Im having a bouquet issue. I want red poppies (real) for my bouquet and white poppies (fake) for the bridemaids. I cannot find these (real or otherwise) anywhere! Any suggestions?

Unless your wedding will be in the spring, fresh poppies will be hard to come by.

Late April should be okay. I know my centerpieces had some poppies in them and that was early May. You could try talking to the flower shop I used and see if they'd have them available. They are very reasonable! Lee Flowers at the State Farmers Market.

Here's silk ones: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/crsipofl2ea1.html

^ LOVE those silk ones. I havent too impressed with the way the silk poppies look, generally. Thanks! Also, Lee Flowers... writing that down now.

That website sells good stuff. If you are thinking of doing silk to save money though it usually doesn't work out that way

Really? I wanted to do all real but my mom convinced me to do mine real but the bridesmaids and my throw bouquet silk... to save money. Now, my granmother would actually be constructing the bouquets. That being the case, would silk actually be the cheaper route?

I'd bet money fresh will end up cheaper. People always think silk will be cheaper because they're basing the price on crappy silk flowers, not nice looking ones. To give you an idea, one silk flower is $3.99. You can buy a small bunch of flowers for about $5. That's less than two silk flowers.

So definitely price things out before committing to silks.

Also, We're getting married on Ocracoke, do you think the poppie will travel well? Even if we can get them somewhere in Nags Head or KDH, they would have about a 1.5-2 hour drive.

I transported my flowers from Raleigh to Topsail in big buckets. I had them make sure the flowers were tight on Thursday morning when I picked them up and they were in full bloom by Saturday.

I did silk flowers and saved a bundle. I actually spent maybe $50 for all my florals. I went to a hobby/craft outlet store at the beach and got NICE silk flowers for $3 a bundle. We did not end up using all I bought. My toss bouquet was $5. I plan to put the $15-20 I saved onto a giftcard and attach it to the bouquet to make things a little more interesting

Here's my blog post about my bouquet and our action figure boutineers!

http://soontobeblackwelder.blogspot.com/2011/06/boy-tineers.html

And my bouquet image:

Can you tell it's fake in some places?
Yeah.
Do I give a rats ass?
Nope.

PS - having real flowers is annoying because you can't sit them down without fear of crushing them...they die...they make your hands sweat and smell weird....and I can sell my bouquet when the wedding is over if I want or make it in to something else.

^those look really good!

i personally like real flowers.
its a real dorky reason why i do so i wont go into it

our flowers were a combination of real and fake (and of course the girls bouquets were brooches) and the only reason we had the fake ones was because they were sitting outside (ceremony flowers) for a lot of the day and we didnt want them to wilt before 8!

the orchid streamers were fake...

and the funny thing about it-we didnt even know until the whole night was over

I'm having real daisies because they're cheap, you can buy them in bulk, and resilient... those things take forever to die

(and because they're my favorite flower)

I have been thinking about something. I love the lace dress I posted a while ago, but I'm starting to wonder if it's "me." I am considering having a tea length, very whimsical dress. But I'm at a loss as to where I should look for something like that. I would want lace incorporated in some way, but I like the styles where it's a little shorter in the front and longer in the back with a fluffy skirt.

And plus, I'm having green shoes so I want people to see them

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking

I want something similar to this:

but I think I would prefer it without the rhinestone belt-thingy, and I definitely want some sort of strap (and the asymmetrical hem)

I just want something fun. I love, love, love the lace dress.... and I know I would feel pretty in it... but I just don't know if it's me

to be quite honest, I have always loathed long dresses.... the only long dress I have is one I got on sale from the gap, and even then it doesn't go to the floor, just right above my ankles (it shrunk, and I don't care, and I hardly wear it)

even at prom, I was not a fan of having a long dress... idk why I thought I would feel ok in a long wedding dress

short one it is

OMG LOVE IT

Yep! I got it from this store:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/KnotCouture?ref=ss_profile

They did a really good job making it to measure. Unfortunately (but not really lol) I lost weight between when I was measured and when the wedding happened so it ended up being loose, which isn't good with a strapless dress But I mean, there's nothing they could do about that. And I wanted more crystal bling than what they had sewn into the bodice so I ended up spending a day sewing in craploads of crystals. Again, not them, my personal preference and it was an easy fix so I didn't really mind. They'll also work with you to make a custom design if you want.

I love tea length dresses and those will be so nice to showcase some really cute shoes!

I walked around in my dress and shoes last night since Justin is on his bachelor's weekend and ended up feeling better about it but still kind of like, "Ergh, this is going to be a P in the A when it comes to rehearsal/dancing/walking/etc."

But I love love love my shoes. I am considering going to a shoe cobbler and having them taken down a half inch. I posted about them here: http://soontobeblackwelder.blogspot.com/2011/05/not-to-step-on-any-toes.html

ok I need to add something:

take off the flower belt... imagine the lace overlay on the top going to the skirt... I think it would be awesome to have like a cluster of flowers bringing the lace into the skirt part.. like a cascade, but only in one portion instead of all the way around the waist.. make sense?

also, I would want the lace and flowers a slightly different colored white

I just went back through my Etsy account to see because I couldn't remember

Let's see, I first messaged her with some questions about it on Feb 15th, put in the order a few days later, and I received it on April 23rd. So about a two month turn around?

I really agree about the strapless thing. I was absolutely certain I did not want strapless, which I'm sure you know is super-hard to find out there. I did off-the-shoulder and it was absolutely perfect.

Yes, she is... well, that's the plan

But she specifically told me a long time ago that she didn't care what I did as long as it wasn't super weird, ya know

if she all of sudden tried pulling the "well I'm paying for it" card, I would be really upset and find a way to pay for it myself

I'm just getting irritated because both her and my sister have this thing I call "nice pushy"

example:

Me: "Ooooo, I really like X"

Mama/Sissy: "Ohhh, that is pretty. But you should try Y "

Me: "Well.. I really had my heart set on this one - I'm in lurve with it"

M/S: "Aw, yeah, it's very you.... but you should try Y "

Me: "Um.. I don't think I would be 100% happy with that, to be honest"

M/S: "Well I think Y looks very you you should do that. "

and so on.

then I'm all OMG GOOD FOR YOU BUT "Y" IS NOT FOR ME PLEASE DROP ITkjaldsfkjaslkdfjasdklf

My mom finally acknowledge it's a good idea :-P

She said the only thing about ordering online is it would take away the dress shopping experience... but I'd rather have a dress that was everything I'm looking for made instead of trying on a crapton of dresses in a store that always were disappointing, ya know? Im actually making my own dress but Im still going to go dress shopping. Although Im pretty sure I know the pattern I will design, I want to try on tons of different style to be sure.

Sam, Im actually on the same page as you. Im making a knee length dress although the hem will be a handkerchief hem. Similar to this but not quite as exaggerated: http://skepticdesigns.com/Detailed%20Pages/katrina%20skirt.htm

Im going to edge the hem in thin black lace. It will be made of an antique white silk/satin with an empire waist that has a 3 in waist band. I want to incorporate a very white lace by laying it over the antique white silk waist band.

However, having thought all of this out... As of last night Im thinking about a different pattern design that incorporates a long dress style and a square where the backing and (very short) sleeves are lace..... Now I can decide.

Oh, Ill be wearing my black and white chucks regardless.

[Edited on June 20, 2011 at 6:15 PM. Reason : square neck line* much like one of the dresses you posted sam.]
