Yeah, mine was 19" and I wrestled at 171 lbs.
I think mine is still around 19. I wore a shirt with an 18" collar to a wedding and it was super tight. I'm just fat right now though.7/21/2010 6:19:03 PM |

Some days I feel awesome working out and feel like I get something done.... today was not one of those days. I felt like crap this morning working out legs. My legs are shaky so I guess I got something done, my head just wasn't in it. 7/22/2010 7:21:14 AM |

i've been exercising without a real set plan, rather I just listen to my body...if i don't feel like doing legs/etc I either don't go or train a different muscle group...never enter the gym thinking you're weaker/vulnerable or you will be weaker and vulnerable. 7/22/2010 7:46:50 AM |

I've adopted that method as well. If you're not going to be fully into the workout that day, feeling weak or tired, more often than not you won't get a lot done and you'll perform pretty miserably. Sometimes its been to the point where I drift out of it/daydream between sets, and when I snap back to it I realize I'm just too out of it to continue with any real gains and I just leave.
Sometimes you do have to flat out force yourself to the gym, but there's a point where in my opinion its not worth it. 7/22/2010 7:58:30 AM |

I went in there ready to push some weight but after doing squats I just felt weaker than usual. My foot started to hurt so I didn't want to over do anything. I made up for it on the leg press though. 7/22/2010 7:59:58 AM |

I apparently dropped 4 pounds pretty suddenly at the end of last week. I usually lose weight in chunks, but never that big (because at 110, that's a lot). Plus I can't entirely figure out why, as I hadn't changed much about my diet or exercise (and am done with Insanity so it wasn't thanks to that). And I was averaging eating pretty close to maintenance level. I was starting to really think my scale needed new batteries. But it seems to be legit. I'll take it. And I know I haven't posted progress pictures in a while so I'll take some tonight. 7/22/2010 9:10:32 AM |

I'm pescetarian and have no problem gaining weight. Load your diet with healthy, calorie-dense foods. Peanut butter and almond butter are high in calories and protein.
Add avocado, nuts, cottage cheese and Greek yogurt to your meals to up the calorie count in just a couple of bites.7/22/2010 12:26:10 PM |

Been using these:

Found them at wholesale price. I really don't like all the advertising all the other big name companies do. Anyway I realized I wasn't getting enough protein because i'm not a huge meat/egg eater and I was struggling to get 100+ a day. Haven't tried too many other brands but the vanilla is great with smoothies. 7/23/2010 8:29:40 AM |

Can someone refresh my memory? What the general rule of thumb for protein intake when you want to increase muscle mass? 7/23/2010 9:00:26 AM |
CalledToArms All American 22025 Posts user info edit post |
I generally stick to 0.7-0.75g of protein per lb of body weight per day. You'll probably get other people to say more than that but from experience and the stuff I've read that has been the sweet spot for me.
I'll post a quote from a Men's Fitness article (it was easy to get to since I have posted it on here before):
Quote : | "Depends on whether you work out or not and how strenuous your workouts actually are. Your average desk-bound male requires just 0.36 grams of protein per pound of body weight per day. But exercise can nearly double those requirements. For endurance athletes, Peter Lemon, a professor of exercise nutrition at the University of Western Ontario, recommends getting between 0.5 and 0.7 grams of protein per pound of body weight. "For strength athletes, those numbers are even higher--generally between 0.7 and 0.8 grams of protein per pound of body weight," he says. If you've been shooting for a gram of protein per pound of body weight--or more--you're overdoing it. Your body won't be able to process those extra calories, and they'll ultimately end up as just one thing: fat." |
