It didn't pass because we backed down. I plan on writing her when I've cooled down a little bit so not to sound so "fringe." If we are gonna play a shit team, lets play one that doesn't live to play us. They can say we're "scared" all they want. When ACC schools stop playing them they will fizzle out or start a rivalry with app.

Came here to post this. I didn't get to study the game but it still feels like to me the play calling is hampering us. I can't quite put my finger on it but it seems like we call the dumbest plays at the wrong times and it's forcing Wilson to force it. There is no reason we should have ran on second down at the end of the game. No reason at all.

Running on 2nd down is fine, imo.

The problem is, we ran it on first down wide and got stuffed. Ran the same play to the other side on 2nd and got stuffed.

If we were going to run the ball, run it up the gut. ECU hadn't been able to stop us yet. Put in Moose and challenge the OLines manhood.... they'll get it done

I get the feeling that Bible wants to run a "we are gonna play our style football and you try and stop it" type game but we just don't have the running game (right now) to do that. We get stopped on the ends and we go right back to it where the tackle can't make his reach block and we are 3rd and long.

^^^The horse is dead. Stop beating it. Carolina talks down to a in conference team that has beat them the last few years (not to mention their players want to beat us more than anyone). ECU is a non conference (non BCS) team that steals games in the middle of our seasons (and lives for it). App/Elon/WCU would be just as much a rival if we gave them as much exposure as we do ECU.

unfortunately if we attempt to cancel/stop scheduling these games after a loss it's going to seem bitch made. even though I've felt we should cancel it for years. look at this game. it was on fucking CBS College Sports. no exposure. no recruiting battles. no "look, if you come here you can play in cool places like the big house/notre dame/hawaii/etc." just a shitty series of games against a program that is good enough to beat us but not good enough to be worth anything to us if we beat them (just like nearly everyone in the ACC) and a fanbase "rivalry" that as someone who grew up in western NC (the triad) I honestly could not give two shits about one way or the other.

ECU: we freakin hate having ron cherry within 20 miles of any of our games. from some of the no calls i saw today, and there were several, trust me on that. we didn't lose just because of officiating, not even close, but you are out of your mind if you think the refs were even remotely biased towards state today.

NCSU: i will take a previous quote: grow a pair. do i think state is a better school than ecu? absolutely. but they beat us today, and our team rolled over for them. until we beat ecu by 30 for multiple years, personally i think it is dumb to say we shouldn't play them. we wouldn't be crying all over ourselves about having to play them if we had won today.

Poor performance today in a game ECU was hyped for and we weren't ready for. Fortunately we already have 5 wins, and it makes ECU feel much better about themselves but doesn't change anything from a bowl standpoint. Probably matters more from a recruiting standpoint than in most years, with UNC about to feel the hammer from the NCAA.

From a bowl standpoint, the Liberty Bowl is still the best ECU can do, although somewhat improbable.

State controls their own destiny, and as many things as there are that need fixing, nothing changes as far as even and Orange or Peach Bowl being within reach. It just stinks having our offense stifled at teams by the same team that made Jay Davis look like Peyton Manning.

There really is no reason to play ECU. We don't get anything positive out of it. I feel that way when we win and when we lose.

Are we legally required to play them? I know that we have to play non-ACC in-state schools regularly, but don't App State and Western Carolina fit that bill? Those games actually benefit both schools, as they get money and low travel costs while we get a fine tune-up opportunity. Playing ECU affords neither financial advantage over another team nor does it provide help to our players. It gives us nothing in recruiting and frankly 95% of State fans couldn't give a shit about playing ECU so it's not like it's good for the fanbase.

I hope Yow takes steps to end this ridiculous situation.
