i've got 7 speakers - but i can hear way better with my wireless sennheisers, pretty sad

when i do have my speakers running i have it cut way down because of the highly sensitive neighbors


i wonder if there is a 7.1 setup that really works better than a headset

Just went 16-0-0 in a free for all match. Yeah, it's free for all, and yeah, it's just 16 kills, but I'm not that awesome at this game, so it was pretty huge. Doubt I'll ever do that again.

My receiver outputs sound in Dolby Headphone which does a really good job of simulating surround sound through a stereo headphone. I can hear directional movement and sound, and how far away a sound is.

i don't know if my onkyo receiver does the same thing that wahoowa's does but I can hear footsteps way better with my headphones

i've started trying to get ninja pro so my footsteps are silent

it became apparent to me when i am following someone and they turn around quickly that they can hear my footsteps

a lot of good players will tell you that a good set of headphones is a tremendous advantage

^ yeah all of my classes use Ninja Pro..even my knifing class. Alot of good players listen for footsteps. Even the Ninja Pro can be heard though if I turn up the sound pretty high.

You either need a receiver that can output sound using Dolby Headphone (I think most newer receivers will have this...I have a Harman Kardon AVR 354) and a standard pair of headphones, or you can purchase a headphone set that can process its own Dolby Headphone sound (like these: http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/efx4/home.aspx).

Its not as perfect as separate speakers but it works well enough me based on my situation. If I had the choice though I would go back to speakers....I like the distinct separation of sounds.

anyone notice that there are a lot more really good players playing now? Used to be that when I played TDM there would be one or two prestiged players (who have only prestiged once) mixed in with some 50-60 rated players and a few 20-30 rated players

now the majority of players have prestiged 2 or 3 times with the remainder of the players in the 60-70 range. Is this the matchmaking system, or are there really not that many novice players left?

The game has been out for 3 months...logically you can expect people to have played longer, and thus have a higher ranking.

Realize that rank has nothing to do with skill, as you will find many who have prestiged several times but still have the skill set of a rookie.

i'm fairly sure the matchmaking does look at your rank and score when finding games to put you in. i'd assume it bases it off the party leader for parties.

but then you've got the boosters who are higher rank because they either hacked the game or got their friends help and the folks who just play a lot and are no good. on any given night i'm usually in about the same point on the standings regardless of the rank i'm playing against.

speaking of hacking -- i got a message from 2 different accounts last night promising to get me prestige 10 for $$$. filed a complaint, but who knows if that actually does anything.

My killstreak rewards are set at 5, 7, and 8. Overall I'm a decent player for the most part, but can do good enough to get on a roll and have a night of fantastic games. How nooby is that?
