i got a hint of sarcasm with your last post...if you dont mind, why does apple put restrictions up? imo it sounds kind of dumb to put up restrictions that your customers want

no sarcasm.

There's lots of restrictions. Some, Apple probably has good reasons for, others, I dunno. There are no applications with Video capture capabilities even though the phone is capable of that. Apple says you can only run one program at a time, which I can understand why, cause they wouldn't want people running 10 things at once and then having the phone crash all the time, but it's rediculous to not be able to listen to Pandora and talk on AIM at the same time. There's no legal way to choose different icons for your programs or put things in folders so people with lots of programs are forced to scroll through pages and pages of applications. Also for whatever reason they don't want turn by turn directions on the gps. I dunno if that's because they want to charge $texas for them later or if they are worried about legal implications, but regardless there are lots of reasons to "jailbreak" your phone to get around most, if not all of those (and tons more) restrictions that Apple forces on you.

How 'bout you wait until I misspell a word about 1,000 times before you call me out on something like that.

I mean, that's what I did with you.

Is there anyway whatsoever to send picture mail via text message to someone with another service? Sprint and verizon can send and receive it so easily, why can't at&t or the iPhone do it, or can it?

AT&T can do it, the iPhone cannot. The iPhone does not have any sort of MMS feature.

you could try sending to the email address associated with your each cell phone: (have people send MMS to you via that email, and you send an email to their address)

* T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.net
* Virgin Mobile: phonenumber@vmobl.com
* AT&T for SMS phonenumber@txt.att.net, for MMS phonenumber@mms.att.net
* Sprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
* Verizon: for SMS: phonenumber@vtext.com for MMS: phonenumber@vzwpix.com
* Nextel: phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com

yeah, i do that to send MMS but receiving them is still retarded..

what i've been saying since day 1 is that the link they send you when you get a MMS message on an iPhone should have a link that's like http://www.viewmymessage/username:password instead of you having to go to the website and type in the username/pw. it just makes no f'in sense..esp without copy/paste

yea, just email pics to their phonenumber@einsteinmms.com and it should do the rest for you. I haven't used that way in a while so you might wanna google to make sure it still works.. at worst though what was posted a post or two above me will work..you just have to know what carrier they are on.

My iPhone scared the crap out of me new years day...

I tried to use it and it wouldn't bring up the screen... I couldn't recall the events of the previous evening but I did remember using it that day...

Fortunately the ATT store showed me how to hard reset it(hold both lock and primary buttons at the same time)... but jeebus it scared me.

happened to me the other day. It was stuck on the contacts screen. Took me a few minutes of holding down the home and power buttons to finally get it to reset.

^ Live Poker has some good reviews, and is free through the app store. I'm going to try it out now.

gps isn't a service you pay for.. it's free use of the satellites your tax dollars paid for

hahah 1st gen iphone and other edge users.

Quote :
"Yes, it seems the time has come where 2g breaths it's last breath. While AT&T hasn't stated they are killing EDGE service, they have stated, according to Gizmodo that \"AT&T is downgrading its EDGE/2G service to the weaker 1900 MHz band."

Previously, EDGE service used the stronger 850 MHz band. With this downgrade. EDGE customers, such as owners of the first gen. iPhone, will see a significant decrease in speed and coverage in many areas. AT&T doesn't have much respond other than to "upgrade your phone and get on 3g." While they state that this will increase service for 3g customers, it seems that they are screwing many, many more. Of course faster is better, but the cost is just too great. Many people will feel the drop in service and will not be happy. Is this a bad move on the part of AT&T?"

true or false? it disappeared off the gizmodo site.

are they talking about doing that in areas where they HAVE 3G service or ALL areas? because I don't even have 3G available here.. or in most places for that matter.

ATT will let anyone with a 1st gen iPHONE upgrade to 3g early.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense would buy the new one and recover all their money by selling the old one on ebay.

exactly.. i can ALMOST see their point of doing it in 3G coverage areas.. but doing it everywhere seems to serve no positive purpose for the majority of their coverage area

I take offense to that statement. I'm not in an area where I have regular 3G coverage and I have very little use for the GPS features on the new iPhones. Plus I have no interest in adding $15 a month to my phone bill, so I'm perfectly content to keep my first generation one.

i had/have lux touch installed, been playing the hell out of it, but all the sudden there is no icon on my home screen and when I try to go install it it says "Installed" spo I can't "reinstall" it that I know of. Anyone know how to fix this?

[As a side note, I feel like one of those helpless computer users whose life falls apart if they can't find that shortcut icon on their desktop]

Is there a way to get the email app to open into the accounts view by default? I have three email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo, and Exchange) on my phone, and when I get a new mail there's no telling which account it came from without navigating all the way back to that first screen. So if I am reading a message in one account and close to the home screen, and get a new message on another account, I have to go back in and tap at least 5-6 times to back out and go into the account it came from. Too much clicking!

Ok, so yesterday my friend was playing around on his Blackberry and showing me he could watch full episodes of Scrubs, How I Met Your Mother, etc on it...his service is through AT&T as well. So Im wondering is there an iPhone equivalent? Seems there should be, but I havent found anything like that in the appstore...
