^I won't disagree, they need to stop saying that, I really think whoever wins the Washington game wins the division. They have a much easier schedule after that game. 3/29/2008 9:08:22 PM |

We have the exact same schedule after we play them but only difference is, we get Tampa on the second end of a back2back, much like tonight. Laviollete should be really pissed tonight. Tampa made them look bad. 3/29/2008 9:11:38 PM |

Yeah next weeks schedule is definitely not in our favor.. we play TB on the back end of a back-to-back
Washington gets to play TB the night after we play them, and also Florida the night after we play them. So not only do we have to play on the back end of a back-to-back but Washington gets 2 or 3 games next week on the other teams back end. 3/29/2008 9:17:44 PM |

well ya gotta wonder....
if we can't get it done at tamp bay this late in the season and washington goes on a run like they are.... do we really deserve to get into the playoffs?
I think that its fitting we have to prove that we are playoff worthy at washington...
Besides, there are more positives from the 2nd half of this season for the canes than wins, ya know.... 3/30/2008 9:26:19 AM |

It would be disastrous for this team to lead the division 97% of the year just to lose it on the last week of the season, and maybe not even make the playoffs.
Tuesday will be the biggest game for the Caps in a long time. They will be hyped up. If Laviolette has been resting his guys with the lead we've had all along, I hope he knows that lead is nothing now. Cullen, Whitney, Williams......if they're ready to play, this is the time to play them. 3/30/2008 10:03:48 AM |

Canes are a solid team...
My question is, is it that bad if Washington passes Carolina?
If that happens, Carolina moves to the 8 seed and gets Montreal...sure they lose home ice advantage, but I think I'd rather play the Canadiens over the Rangers 3/30/2008 10:05:24 AM |

Remember, Pittsburgh is only 1 point behind Montreal with a game in hand (currently leading 2-1 over NY in the third), so we may have to face the Pens as a number 8 seed. I'd really hate to go up against a team with that many explosive players that are healthy when we have so many out.
As for Montreal/NY, we managed a 2 and 2 record against each, so I'm not sure who the Canes would prefer more. 3/30/2008 1:25:58 PM |

We're not good away from the RBC, exactly at .500. Meanwhile every other team in contention has a winning away record. I think we need that home ice, even if it's for one series. 3/30/2008 2:21:45 PM |

I don't think we match up very well with the Rangers, but Lundqvist didn't show me much last year in the playoffs.
With that said, never fuck with the Montreal Canadiens in the playoffs with a rookie in the net.3/30/2008 3:52:07 PM |

A gutsy effort tonight by Jamie McBain and Wisconsin as it looked like they were going to upset North Dakota with a 2-0 lead going into the third, but UND rallied and won it in overtime. Disappointing, as there would have been 3 Cane defensive prospects in the Frozen Four if Wisconsin had moved on. McBain is awesome, though. This guy is going to be playing for us in a couple of years, and he's going to be a great addition to the blue line. He had a goal and an assist in Wisconsin's 6-2 win over Denver in the 1st round. Tonight against North Dakota he scored the game's first goal sneaking in back door and receiving a nice feed. I wonder if he will return for his junior season or sign and play with Albany. I think he is probably going to stay in school for another year.
Clarkson was eliminated 2-0 by Michigan. Nick Dodge will sign very soon with Albany and join the team for their playoff run. Since he's a senior I'm assuming he's going to be graduating.
Tim Kunes and Boston College upset 1 seed Miami in overtime to advance to the Frozen Four after beating Minnesota in the first round.
Overtime diving goal by Joe Whitney for BC:
Kyle Lawson had a goal in Notre Dame's 7-3 first round stunner over 1 seed New Hampshire, and was a +2 in the regional final upset over Michigan State.
Frozen Four is in Denver starting at 6 PM on Thursday, April 10.
Michigan (1) vs. Notre Dame (4) North Dakota (1) vs. Boston College (3)
National championship game is Saturday, April 12 at 7 PM on ESPN. 3/30/2008 9:13:54 PM |

The Albany-area newspapers have been filled with speculation all weekend about just how soon Dodge, a Carolina Hurricanes draft pick, will be joining the American Hockey League's Albany River Rats.
Dodge picked up a penalty during the second period of Saturday's game and while he was sitting in the box the official sitting in it said to him, "Hey, Nick, this is the River Rats' home box."
Dodge had no response. " |

No contact jersey for Cullen, so I don't think we're gonna see him yet.
Whitney and Williams, however... full contact. I think they are both in the lineup for the showdown tomorrow night. 3/31/2008 10:26:30 AM |

Whitney was the first player off the ice, so there's no guarantee he's in the lineup tomorrow. But Williams is fit and ready to go, 14 weeks after reconstructive knee surgery.
"We're coming to crunch time," Williams said. "We'll see what the coaches say tomorrow."" |
