We aren't Argentina but we have enough talent to have more than one legit chance against this Costa Rica team.

If we'd play to our strengths (pace and quick passing) all the way into that final third, we'd have much better luck than overlapping to Castillo/Chandler or Rogers/Shea putting in weak crosses for nobody to meet.

Only caught the first half last night, we looked really good for a while but then as the half was winding down started to slip. Guess I watched the best part of the game based on what I've read.

Donovan is either tired or getting old. He was cutting back toward the middle every time he ran down the wing instead of taking the defender deeper and trying for an outswinging cross. It definitely killed momentum on a few plays..then he misses what should be an easy finish at the international level.

I still think Klinsmann has brought a new look to the team. Friendlies like this are the time to try out a different mix of players and see who can handle the pressure and who can't. Better now than in 2014.

^^I've noticed that too. Nobody wants to be the one to criticize him, even if he legitimately makes a mistake here and there. In fact, the only person I remember every criticizing him was in fact, Klinsmann after the loss to Ghana in the World Cup (although it was during a sweeping criticism of all of the US star players).

On a side note, I wish I could watch this game instead of being at work.

Agudelo comes on for the second half and makes shit happen almost immediately... as the lone forward. Our problem isn't a one forward formation, it's that our one forward doesn't do jack shit. He doesn't dribble well, he doesn't pass well, he doesn't even make runs to create space for anybody else.

For what it's worth, Jozy has been pretty underwhelming during his national team career, which is too bad, because I had such high hopes for him when he started. But then again, I've had high hopes for just about every US striker. Maybe Agudelo will be my Superman.

I'm still amazed at the shot he missed against Algeria last summer. Caught a rebound just outside the 6 yard box and balloons it over the bar with the net wide open. I guess it was kind of worth it in the end for the US to win in such dramatic fashion...
