We talked about having a friend ordained over the internet and having him officiate but the reality of the matter is our family would flip shit over that... And I think this is one of those situations where, yes it is our wedding, but we need to consider what our families find respectful.

Get married at the courthouse, then have whoever you want officiate at the wedding.

Last wedding I went to the couple did this, they had a friend do the ceremony so tons cheaper.

Introduce the friend as a minister (because they are ordained online) and the family won't know.

We met with her too. She was very nice and professional and gave us a lot of great info but we just didn't have $600 in the budget for an extremely short ceremony. If it's a priority for you, then by all means go for it. My uncle is a pastor, but is not allowed to marry anyone unless they get married in his church. Luckily my dad is friends with an Army chaplain and we are just going to give him a cash donation. I would ask your friends and see if anyone has connections.

Precisely what we did. If it's a friend your family doesn't know, what's the difference?

Just FYI, a notary public can marry you in South Carolina (for cheaper than Kayelily, as well).

The default courthouse weddings here in NC (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVhn0cVOrp4 ) actually do use religious terms and phrases (which I was surprised and kind of pissed about, really).

Hmm I don't remember them using religious terminology at the courthouse when we did it but I also don't really remember what she said to be honest Maybe it depends on the county?

"Colonial"-Themed Wedding Included Authentic All-Black Servant Staff

Dodai Stewart — A tipster urged us to take a look at the wedding photos of Dave & Chantal, who got married in April 2010. The theme of the event? Colonial Africa. Wait, what?

Some of the images — like the large one above — are truly unsettling. The caption seems to be: Remember how great it used to be when our people oppressed brown people? Good times."

Maybe I should have a biker themed wedding I think we'll have about 30 bikers there... they can smash beer bottles on everyone's head then go on a poker run for a charity set up in the victims' names

^^That's Katie's leg. I loved it so much I did one with a wolf head. It's really up to you. And her wedding pictures were so super gorgeous, even one tiny corny detail didn't make a dent in how gorgeous she looked. They featured her wedding in a magazine..Carolina Bride maybe?

JT3Bucky did a PHENOMENAL job DJing. He was professional and played great music and was affordable. We loved him. I have more to say about him but we are on the honeymoon soooo...I'll write more later!

I plan on having a cool NCSU garter

so on FB, Wedding Paper Divas have a page and they always put up wedding questions where you can comment and whatnot... I was the first to respond to: "What registry gift are you most excited to receive?"

I wrote: "A stand mixer so I can make cupcakes and drink wine simultaneously"

Wedding Paper Divas "liked" it

But for real, I am excited about it. I really wish we could only register for the stand mixer and a Dyson Animal Ball. I don't really want anything else. :\

I want to get the ice cream attachment for the stand mixer. My friend has it and she loooooooooooooves it. Then I could make all the weird sorbets I want like peach ginger and mango chili.

DITTO! Love my stand up mixer and I don't bake that often...and esp my dyson animal (hubs thought i was crazy putting it on the registry though).

Then def the cash. We appreciated that so much that's what we give now for gifts. "Here...complete your registry...or better yet, use this on the honeymoon!"

and that dress is beautiful

Congrats! Does it require a ton of tailoring?

How much does basic tailoring cost for a wedding dress? Or does it vary widely per dress?
