I had poached eggs for the first time last year and those were really good as well.. I think the only way I wouldn't eat an egg is if it was pickled 7/27/2010 9:10:40 AM |

Yeah, I'd never get any sleep if that was the case Though my body doesn't mind going from 120 heat index outside to 70s inside. It feels fantastic The power bill, however, makes my eyes bug out.7/27/2010 11:29:58 AM |

So I pushed a bit too hard yesterday. I had some cramps in my legs while swimming yesterday and sucked it up and just kept swimming with it. Now my legs are beyond sore and it's a task just trying to walk today No swimming for me today

Ever since I went running Monday night the side of my foot has been hurting, just under/in front of my ankle. Anyone ever have that happen? I'm not sure whether I just need to rest/ice it for a few days or what. 7/28/2010 10:35:06 AM |

Do you run often? Sometimes you just have to live with a certain level of discomfort, especially when first starting out. I generally don't take breaks unless the pain actually limits my mobility in some way. You'll probably find the next time you run that the pain will fade as soon as you warm up. 7/28/2010 10:59:10 AM |

I have been running more lately, but I'm not new to it. It's not just sore feeling. I have had lots of ankle issues in the past (and this is the ankle on which I tore a ligament ~4 years ago). I am no stranger to sore ankle muscles, but since I've been working out I haven't had any problems with them rolling or getting sprained or anything.
It hurts when I stand up barefoot, like there's pressure coming from that part of my foot. I don't want to be a hypochondriac, but I also don't want to ignore it if I have tendinitis or something.
I got fitted for running shoes at Lady Foot Locker by someone who seemed to actually know what they were talking about but I am definitely going to go to a running only store soon to get refitted. These are getting up in the miles anyway.

I mean, I'm no expert, but if it's not swollen or anything, I would just try running on it again and seeing what happens. It doesn't sound like anything serious. 7/28/2010 11:12:04 AM |

time for exercise can always be made at the beach. i rode one day and ran the others when i was at topsail for a week. you know you won't be eating well, so you might as well take an hour and get some form of a workout. 7/28/2010 11:18:59 AM |

FYI for anyone that likes to eat a lot of eggs (as has been mentioned). One of the Harris Teeter specials this week (through next Tuesday) is 67 cents for a dozen eggs. Ya can't be that for cheap protein! 7/28/2010 11:30:20 AM |

^ I think you have to sign up for the eVIC program to get that (which is more than the normal VIC program. You go online and enroll your VIC card in it). But maybe they just say that to get people to sign up and really give it to everyone. Also it says limit 1 and I am not sure if that is per transaction/day or period. 7/28/2010 11:33:23 AM |

But on the actual topic (zomg double poast), how often have you been swimming, shmorris2? I'm also trying to build up my swimming endurance and skill, and I feel like going even twice a week is hard to do on top of my regular workout schedule. But I've got a 1500m open-water ocean swim coming up on the first leg of the LA triathlon, and it's both my first Olympic-distance tri and my first open-water swim, so I'm a bit nervous about it. 7/28/2010 12:55:40 PM |

Went to the gym and did back and bi (been off of my 4 day plan due to recent developments) and at one point had gotten some weird problem catching my breath, and feeling like I had mucous in my throat. Was coughing a lot and kinda out of it, so I decided to cut the workout early. I did about 80% of what I wanted to accomplish, but its getting annoying having to cut short my workouts due to my body being all "eh, nah, i'm done" 7/28/2010 1:07:57 PM |

When I swam in high school, all the people/teams better than us swam twice a day: Morning and evening, about 3 to 5 miles total each workout.7/28/2010 1:28:33 PM |

And no way am I trying to do all that. I'm not just a swimmer, and I'm not touching any sort of swimming-only races or events. My wife was a competitive swimmer growing up, so she can tell me all sorts of what I consider horror stories.
I don't like swimming and am a bit claustrophobic about being in water, so I just do what I need to get by in triathlons. I've come to terms with the idea that I'll never really enjoy it, though. 7/28/2010 2:05:57 PM |

Tris are usually won or lost on the swim... You've gotta put in some time on it.
And you really only need to put between 30-45 minutes in the pool for your workouts. Shouldn't be taking you more than 45 to do a 1500... 7/28/2010 2:21:42 PM |

I know, it doesn't take that long, but it feels like an eternity because I don't like it. Don't you people care that the water is trying to drown me?! 7/28/2010 4:21:36 PM |

i don't enjoy running (okay well i'm starting to enjoy it more) but it's just something you gotta do if you're doing a tri.
the more you do it, the better you'll get and then the more you'll enjoy it 7/28/2010 4:23:03 PM |
