Jason Jordan ?@JayJayUSATODAY
Just leaving NC State's hoops practice and the Pack looks back. Watched @RPurvis_0 make 7 straight 3s over the course of the practice.

BeeJay Anya sat courtside during NC State's practice. Looked to be engaged and enjoying himself.

TJ Warren looked like a starter.

That is something I didn't expect to see. Purvis slashing and driving is one thing. Perimeter sharp shooter...if that's true my expectations are going to be unfathomable. 10/27/2012 12:04:08 AM |

Ryan Harrow totally made 8 of 9 3's in high school this one time.
Doesn't change the fact that he was a terrible outside shooter as a freshman. 10/27/2012 1:11:49 AM |

I'm serious if we don't turn the corner in basketball this season i quit. Ive had it with this school. 12 years of losing is too much for anyone to take 10/27/2012 5:04:04 PM |

Can I just say that I really hate that we have to play at Michigan 4 games into the season. I would prefer to be a little further into the season before facing such a difficult opponent. I would really like to keep a top 10 ranking longer than 3 weeks into the season to keep the hype train rolling. But if we manage to go in there and win...holy damn 10/29/2012 5:26:07 AM |
Prawn Star All American 7643 Posts user info edit post |
Michigan is easing 2 freshmen into its starting lineup in Glenn Robinson III and Mitch McGary. It might be better that we are catching them early, since we should have less of a transition only replacing CJW with Purvis.
Lo Brown vs Trey Burke will be a hell of a matchup to watch. 10/29/2012 5:45:05 AM |

Yeah...we've got enough experience that we shouldn't be able to use the "it's early in the season and we haven't learned to play together" excuse.
Two seniors and and two juniors in the starting lineup, all who have been starting and/or getting significant playing time for the past three years.....can't ask for much more. 10/29/2012 6:59:07 AM |

It's strange because I don't think our team is as good as the rankings but then I compare our roster to Michigan...and it's not even close. I'll take our guys every time. Seriously, Trey Burke? Zo shits on him.
That game is still a toss up because it's at their place and early but we have a much better team 10/29/2012 10:59:02 AM |

I'm glad we've got an early season test on the road. It'll give us an early indication if this team will live up to the hype. Plus it's better to have a couple tough road games prior to the ACC slate than not having any difficult road games until after the new year.
Even if we lose, hopefully it'll be motivation for the guys to work harder. If we win, well 10/29/2012 10:59:58 AM |

CJ Leslie isnt a preseason all-american, which I think might be a good thing
Quote : | "Indiana sophomore center Cody Zeller and Creighton junior forward Doug McDermott are the leading vote-getters on The Associated Press' preseason All-America team.
Also on the team announced Monday are Ohio State junior forward Deshaun Thomas and three guards -- seniors Isaiah Canaan of Murray State and C.J. McCollum of Lehigh and sophomore Trey Burke of Michigan. McCollum and Burke tied for the fifth spot with 16 votes each.
Zeller was one vote shy of unanimous from the 65-member national panel that selects the weekly Top 25. McDermott was named on 62 ballots, Canaaan 43 and Thomas 26.
McDermott, who averaged 22.9 points and 8.2 rebounds, was a first-team All-America selection last season, while Canaan, who averaged 19.0 points and 3.6 assists, was a second-team pick." |

No one is happier than head coach John Beilein that Burke bypassed the NBA draft and decided to return to Ann Arbor. With the recruiting class the Wolverines are bringing in, Burke could be the point guard on a team that makes a run in March.
4. Lorenzo Brown (NC State)
Brown is coming off of knee surgery, but now plays point guard for a team whose expectations are high after a run to the NCAA tournament last season. He is now a legitimate top-5 PG in the country." |

this lists #1 point guard is a shooting guard. it has no credibility
so they were equal scorers but Zo is a better rebounder, defender and point guard?

trey burke is good. i certainly have not watched him play nearly as much as i have brown. but zo is so good that i do not believe for a second that he will fail to dominate someone that is not only younger than he is but also notably shorter. i'm not saying it's a lock to happen, i'm just saying in my head i can't imagine it going any other way. 10/29/2012 11:21:19 PM |
