I thought I remembered reading about someone who was CLOSE to the renewal date getting one for the discounted price--I'm not 100% sure on that but that's what I remember.

If you're nowhere close I wouldn't think you have much chance of getting one at the discounted rate.

so i'm sending my iphone to zagg because they offered to install the invisibleshield onto my iphone for me since i'm apparently retarded at following directions (who knew they actually did installs too? and apparently everyone i've talked to that's sent theirs in said that it was applied PERFECTLY... the invisibleshield is only worth it if your installation is flawless)

i'm shipping it there next day air and having them ship it back next day air... so i'm hoping it'll be back by friday...

in the meantime i popped my SIM out and stuck it in my old treo 750... oh lawd... what will i do

i don't think i remember how to use windows mobile...

that shit is IMPOSSIBLE to work with... you practically have to douse your phone with that soap solution they give you to even BEGIN to get the thing positioned correctly... and then the corners won't fold in...

but i've seen the results when someone has one that's been applied properly... you can't even tell it's there (truly is invisible, lawl), and everything on the phone is protected.

i love my switcheasy capsule rebel case, but it's still a *case*... it adds about an eighth of an inch to the width/height/depth of the phone, and it just feels bulky despite its sleek design...

all i really cared about was scratching it, and i'll be damned if anything gets through this stuff. it was manufactured for helicopter blades, for god's sake.

you guys should really check it out... and i'd totally recommend just sending your phone to zagg in the first place to get it installed, it's well worth the few days.

I have 2 updates that WILL NOT install? Google Earth and Myspace I think. 2 more since then have installed without incident. Reboot did not help. Update did not help. WTF?

i put a zagg protector on my ipod, one handed, with no problem

i thought about getting one for the iphone, but decided against it since I didn't like the feeling of the plastic over the glass touch surface. it didn't feel as smooth. a lot of malls have zagg kiosks now (which is good for checking out the products, i wouldn't trust the employees there to put a protector on my phone)

I recently had an idea.

If I bought a new 3G iPhone and unlocked it, would I be able to swap in the SIM card from my 1st gen iPhone and get use the 3G without having to renew my contract/up my monthly fee $15?

I think this could work. Anyone know for sure?

the cost for a phone without a contract would exceed just paying the extra I would think..they force you into the new plan at the apple stores when you purchase the phone

Battery Issue:

Anyone else having serious battery issues? My phone sits in the cradle charging all day while I'm at work. So the battery is full. I got home around 7, it is now 8:30 and I have 20% battery left. This isn't the first time this happens. Also when I do get this kind of battery loss, my phone feels pretty warm. Warmer then usual. I suppose I should take it to the apple store to get it checked out.

^^^ Check your usage stats on the phone (Setting -> General -> Usage) if the Usage and Standby times are the same, then the phone app has gone wonky on you. Sometimes a simple reboot works, but usually you have to backup the phone and restore the software.

^^ it says "3 hours 20 minutes standby" and "2 hours 20 minutes usage" I did do a reboot when I first made that post...so I should have checked it before...

The only apps i used all day today was facebook and twiterific

nope.

if you ever have to send your phone to apple to get it repaired, just reflash with the stock firmware. it doesn't do anything permanently to your phone.

you should go ahead and jailbreak before you get a bunch of apps on there just in case you can't use quickpwn.

(plus a lot of the good apps are only on cydia... snapture, cycorder, etc.)

rolando is the most addictive game ever. it's pretty much the only one i've ever paid for and not been tired of in a few minutes

and agreed..facebook, mint, pandora, AIM, the weather channel app is pretty cool too..shazam is f'in awesome, Flixster if you need movie times and USA today or NY times for news

I'm PRETTY sure there is an app you can get if you jailbreak it that will make it possible--but right now it isn't standard

I never use widescreen to type but still think it should def go to widescreen when typing an email if you put the phone sideways. ah well..jailbreak

yeah i tried widescreen typing but it was just strange...

trust me, after you use the on screen keyboard for a week or two, you'll get used to it.

i can actually type faster on it than i could on my treo with an actual keyboard...

yeah i already like the spell checker so much. its awesome. I'm still a little fidgety but am getting faster with each text.

what sucks is that where i live and work, i am literally like 4 miles outside of the 3G network. But its expanding as we speak so i'll be covered in no time. until then, wi-fi ftw

what's the average charge time on these guys? I just plugged mine in about 30 minutes ago and had been getting 20% battery life messages all morning.
