...but why the fuck do people persist in thinking it's a fucking skeeter repellent? As Nerdchick so delicately put it the other day "DEET is the only thing that really works. You stink, but you aren't bitten!" (and then she went on to say how glad she is that she can't smell the mix of DEET and sweat and grime )

I don't know if you all make a real repellent with DEET, but I have known entirely too many people who use that shit as a repellent, even though it should be common knowledge that's just advertising a buffet for the mosquitos.

(someone running at lake johnson at 7am was wearing perfume, and that's what sparked the conversation, and brought SSS into it)

i remember when the report came out when i was a kid about the SSS being a better bug repellent than just about anything out there....and that's just when they made that bath oil stuff...

Avon took that shit and turned it into a gold mine....because they now have all the regular SSS products - oils, lotions, creams, etc - AND a line of exclusive bug repellent and sun screen...

it's the same type of formulas, i guess, but tweaked with no smell and extra bug pissing off power...

everybody that i've ever known that has used it swears by it for bugs...

if you posted the same number of posts you do now but did it across several threads then nobody would really notice..

instead i keep it concentrated to a handful of threads and usually just talk to the same people over and over...

so then it looks like you're blowing shit up because it's one post right after the other in 4-5 threads instead of 1-2 posts over 20 threads....

Yeah...back in the day (yes, in the era in which you were a kid, and I was a wee babe ), they also said trans-fats and fake fats were better for you than the naturally-occurring stuff >.<
Correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm going off of googling, but the SSS line of bug repellent products does NOT use DEET, right?

DEET's the only thing proven to be worth a damn when it comes to repelling bugs. Now, if you're some dirty hippy who hates chemicals, and only wants to use stuff like citronella, I suppose the very marginal protection it provides is better than none, but once you add DEET as an option, the scale of effectiveness is now so wide that everything else gets lumped together as 'ineffective'

I'll stick with my DEET kthx
