No matter who I pull for, I consider the spread a pretty accurate assessment on the direction the game could go in most of the time.

So when a well researched and calculated line that the media and other sports fans use says -4, that means the game is a toss up.

When you go in with unrealistic expectations of being a "big favorite" it just undermines anything else you say because people think you are an idiot

The purpose of the spread is not to predict the outcome of the game; it's meant to create equal action on either side of the bet.

If we were minus -10 to -12, I would say that we are big favorites, but not at -4

Yes, the true point of a spread is to get even money on both sides to ensure vegas wins, but the spread is often times a good predictor on how the game will be played out. A game with a line of -20 isn't expected to be a close, but a game with a spread in the low to mid single digits indicates that the game could go either way and is reflected through the line.

Furthermore, sites like Accuscore & Kenpom had us winning by 3 yesterday, again proving we were NEVER big favorites

All of those are very true, but you still have a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose of the spread. People in Vegas don't care who wins, so they don't try to predict who will win; the spread is used to make money.
