How many times have you said something to this effect in this thread? Stop. It's dumb. Nobody thinks a new coach will make us world cup champions. But it's very possible new tactics and a new strategy will afford us more opportunities to play attacking soccer. Anybody who wanted Klinsmann to be a failure (like big4country) is probably pretty happy right now. But he's doing exactly the same things Bradley would have done so it's not like we're missing anything.

While this is true, we have had neither in the last few games. 11 behind the ball for the majority of the game and our only chances are pussy ass 30 yard shots.

^I don't want him to fail and I hope that any coach who coaches the USA will be a winner. I just think it's funny that we are still the USA after yet another coaching change when so many people were acting like a European born coach would make us soooooo much better. It was the right move to hire the current coaching staff when they did and I am glad the USSF didn't just wait till the end of a 4 year cycle again.

It's not just about Jurgen being European for Christ's sake. It's about experience and an understanding of the game. Let's look at both of their resumes before they were hired for the national team.

Bob Bradley:

Played college soccer without distinction
Coached college
Coached well in a newly formed mediocre league (MLS)

Jurgen Klinnsman:

Played at both at the club level (in four of five of the best European leagues) and internationally with distinction.
Managed at one of the largest clubs in the world at Bayern Munich
Managed Germany to a third place finish at the World Cup by changing the teams philosophy and turning around a team that greatly underperformed during Euro's two years earlier
Is a god damned US Citizen

Now - objectively - looking at their resumes, which would you choose? You're lying through your teeth if you don't say Jurgen. I appreciate that Bob did pretty well with our National Team, but his inability to adapt the team, which was perhaps due to his limited understanding, ultimately meant he had to go. And show me an American coach with half the credentials of Klinnsman. I dare you.

^You couldn't have said it any better. I wish we could have gotten Jurgen Klinnsman sooner. Oh well, better late than never I guess.

So I'm seeing articles today about Arsenal and Everton wanting to sign Shea. I assume these are just overreactions to innocuous quotes..

Spot on analysis, Mirror.

The comments say he played the full 90 in a game as a center back back in 08.

But yeah that's pretty dumb.

He briefly played CB for Dallas to start the season because of injuries.

But he also hasn't played there in months, he's never played there for the US, he looked like shit against France, and Everton is poor as fuck and wouldn't waste money on Shea even if they had money

Unless Moyes is desperate to replace Fellaini with someone with the same body frame and unimpressive football skills.

game's at noon

USA lineup: Howard; Cherundolo, Goodson, Bocanegra, Chandler; Johnson, Beckerman, Bradley, Dempsey; Buddle, Altidore

At least Bradley's starting? Good call on a 4-4-2 as well.

see, here's the thing hey now. i'm at work. and my computer sucks. and i'm working. so instead of trying to search on espn and take 20-30 secs to bring-up each page, it'd be easier if somebody just knew of a link they could post. it'd make things so much easier. so that's why i asked.

just skimmed through the game... good road result, nice to see some goals

why is lalas so anti-klinnsman? I mean from game 1 he has been on him. It gets really annoying, like he wants him to fail. Have the results been great so far? No, but these things don't happen overnight.

Cool! Olympic qualifying is being held in the US again. The last time it wasn't, we got our ass kicked. Going to the Olympics wouldn't hurt the development of our younger players.
