Okay well at least your are not one of those completely hypocritical bastards on that issue
Truth is you occasionally have some good points; we really must be careful not to give the government too much power. You lose a lot of credibility though when you post some of the BS sites you often do... not EVERYTHING is a conspiracy. Tone it down and quit blaming every single problem on the Bush administration and you might make some headway. Take your fight agaist issues and not just one man.
P.S. I am starting my own political party... the one the Republican party is suppose to be

Patriot Act reveals student information http://www.dailyillini.com/news/2005/03/04/News/Patriot.Act.Reveals.Student.Information-885812.shtml
Quote : | "For many students the library is a perfect place to study, conduct research or surf the Internet. What some students may not realize, though, is that government officials can secretly obtain records of what materials they check out from the library, according to provisions in the USA PATRIOT Act of 2001.
The Patriot Act, as well as other state and federal laws, allows the release of University documents, including a library user's registration, circulation records and material viewed online, according to the University library Web site.
"Under the (Patriot) Act, we are not even allowed to say if we have had any requests," said Bob Burger, associate University librarian. "Which means, by law, we are not allowed to inform the person if information has been requested about them."" |

Tyranny Comes to Amerika: Reporters Targeted http://www.savethemales.ca/000834.html
Quote : | "The "suicide" deaths of Hunter Thompson, Gary Webb and J.H. Hatfield show that reporters who expose the criminal activities of our political elite are risking their lives.
They are on the front line of freedom. When they are killed, it means very bad things are in store.
In the latest issue of "World Currency Review," veteran British intelligence analyst Christopher Story warns us to expect a tyranny in America worse than Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia. I'll elaborate below.
Hunter Thompson was killed late last month. He was working on stories dealing with a homosexual callboy (or programmed sex slave?) ring in the Bush White House and the demolition of the World Trade Center.
Gary Webb was killed in December. His specialty was the Cocaine Import Agency (CIA).
J.H. Hatfield "committed suicide" in 2001. His book "Fortunate Son: George W. Bush and the Making of an American President" was actually withdrawn by the publisher during the 2000 election campaign. About 100,000 copies were actually burned! " |

That's right. Its only "for crime."
But in the new America, whole new classes of "crimes" are being created. So maybe they are being halfway truthful.

And Mr. Joshua loves the idea of having surveillance cameras everywhere? 3/9/2005 3:26:52 PM |
Mr. Joshua Swimfanfan 43948 Posts user info edit post |
No, but I realize that they become necessary when a limited police force is asked to protect a large population, they help to streamline public safety, allowing fewer officers to protect the masses. The fact is that these cameras are all in public places, which is completely legal. I would be worried if the government began placing cameras on private property, but that isn't the case. I attended a conference with a gentleman who was a big part of the fight against Irish terrorism for over 20 years, and his stories of what the government could get away with over the were wild. The have several times as many cameras as the US (per person) because they have no written constitution limting the power of the government and protecting the average citizen's write to privacy.
Just for the sake of sharing: At the conference he explained that when the British government first began combatting Irish terrorism in the 1960s the first thing that they did was set up laundry services in violent Irish neighborhoods that were clandestinely operated by the police. By offering introductory deals cleaning linens, they got most households to bring their laundry to be cleaned. At this point they tested all cloth for exposure to nitrates, and quickly knew exactly which houses had explosives in them. He noted that none of this would be possible in the US due to our limits on police power. 3/9/2005 3:38:37 PM |

The New Threat of Big Brother: The REAL ID Act http://independent.org/newsroom/article.asp?id=1475
Quote : | "With federal regulation, the Homeland Security Secretary could require states to adopt RFID technology in driver’s licenses. The Secretary might also require that these chips contain fingerprints, iris scans, and other biometric data. In addition, the Secretary could require the states to include personal information such as criminal history, employment history, or firearm ownership—all in the name of “homeland security.” As RFID technology improves, the chips in driver’s licenses could even be read remotely at greater distances, permitting the federal and state governments to know a citizen’s location at any time." |

Man Who Shined Laser Indicted Under Patriot Act http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/104-03232005-467111.html
Quote : | "Associated Press March 24 2005
NEWARK, N.J. - A man accused of pointing a laser at an airplane, temporarily blinding the pilot and co-pilot, was indicted Wednesday under an anti-terror law.
David W. Banach also was accused of lying to the FBI about the Dec. 29 incident, in which a small passenger jet's windshield and cabin were hit three times by a green laser as the plane readied to land at Teterboro Airport.
The charges in the three-count federal indictment were similar to those filed against Banach in a complaint by the FBI in January. The indictment, handed up by a grand jury in Newark, replaces the FBI complaint.
Banach's lawyer, Gina Mendola-Longarzo, said her client was using the laser to look at stars with his daughter when the plane was hit by the beam.
"I think it's an absolute abuse of prosecutorial discretion to charge my client under the Patriot Act for non-purposeful conduct," Mendola-Longarzo said." |

Quote : | "He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on one count of interference with pilots of an aircraft "with reckless disregard for the safety of human life," a provision of the USA Patriot Act passed following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
He also was charged with two counts of making false statements to law officers, each of which carries up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Prosecutors said Banach, after repeatedly lying to authorities about the incident, finally admitted Jan. 1 that he pointed the laser at the plane." |

John Ashcroft said only "terrorists" should fear the Patriot Act. I guess this guy is a "terrorist" too huh? The Patriot Act was supposedly passed to protect us from al-CIA-duh, but now it is being used on American citizens to prosecute people for common crimes.
Those who are labelled "terrorists" can have their rights stripped under the Patriot Act. This includes permanent detention without right to a trial (in violation of the Bill of Rights). Now, I'm not saying this will happen to this guy who used the laser. But cases like this build the precedent for using the Patriot Act on American citizens. Down the road, the Patriot Act could be used to declare as "terrorists" american citizens who have committed common crimes, and to detain them without trial." |

Nice try, moron, but I never said that people should be able to get away with "trying to down an airliner." If this guy did something wrong, he should be punished for it. The Patriot Act, however, was sold as a measure to combat al-CIA-duh, not as a bill to prosecute American citizens for common crimes. The Patriot Act is a dangerous threat to the liberties of American citizens. There were laws to prosecute people for these sorts of crimes prior to the Patriot Act.

It has NOT been proven that this guy was trying to take down the aircraft. That is for a jury to decide in a court of law. For all you know, he could have been just messing around with the laser and did a foolish thing by pointing it at a plane.
Have you ever heard of the maxim of innocent until proven guilty? Guess not. In the new facist AmeriKa, everyone is a terrorist until proven innocent, right? Everyone the all-mighty government claims is a terrorist MUST be one, right, because the great and wonderful government would never lie or make a mistake.

DaBird beat me to what I was going to say - that attempted mass murder is not a "common crime". The Patriot Act was passed to combat terrorism in whatever form it could be found, not simply as a tool to combat Al Qaida, although their actions on 9/11/01 provided the impetus for its passage. I'm not a fan of the Patriot Act, although in this case it is very applicable.
Isn't name calling a tool used by the government controlled media to discredit conspiracy theorists? Are you falling into your own trap?
Quote : | "That is for a jury to decide in a court of law" |
Which is exactly what will happen following an indictment. Thus far he has been charged.

No you're just pulling stuff out of your ass. How does spelling America with a "K" denote fascism? Do you even know what fascism is? My point is, that for all of the ridiculous theories that you propogate, you're not a tremendously creative person. Can you not think of anything better than "al CIA-duh" or "AmeriKa"? Just go back to the posts in this thread from today. I presented the story on the guy with the laser. After you posted in response, I posted a response to your post that included NO SUCH slander or name-calling. It was an attempt at a rational discussion. Then, in your next response you intentionally MISREPRESENT my position by trying to suggest that I think trying to take down a plane is ok. In response to that gross misrepresentation, I felt it necessary to reinforce that you are a moron (which you, in fact, are). This is a literary device known as "sarcasm" - evidently you are not familiar with it. In this situation it is being used to point out the seriousness of the man's actions. You seem to argue that he has done nothing wrong, when in fact his actions could be described as "terrorist" in nature. I never misrepresented your position, intentionally or otherwise.
You get on here and make ridiculous claims and then refuse to have a rational discussion, rather you take everything personally and start calling people names like you're on a second grade playground.

So let me make sure that I understand the rules: 1) If anyone calls you a name it is baseless, and that person has been brainwashed by the government controlled media. 2) If you call someone a name it is part of a rational debate.

I "refuse to have a rational discussion"? If one lives in la-la land like you, they might believe that. Otherwise, they see that this claim is b.s.

Mother arrested for attempting to intervene in her 14-year old's decision to have abortion http://www.illinoisleader.com/news/newsview.asp?c=23788
Quote : | "GRANITE CITY - A Southern Illinois woman was arrested last week (March 17) after trying to intervene on behalf of her 14-year old daughter's effort to have an abortion. The girl was allegedly taken to an abortion clinic by the mother of the man allegedly to have impregnated the 14-year old.
According to the girl's mother, her 14-year old daughter was called off from school in Madison County by a woman posing as the girl's “grandmother.” The woman took the girl from her home only minutes before the girl’s mother returned home from work.
It was later determined that the woman who had posed as the "grandmother" to the school authorities was the mother of the male who had fathered the unborn child the 14-year old girl was carrying. The age of the male has not been released.
When the parents were notified their pregnant daughter was not at school, they suspected she had been taken to the Hope Abortion Clinic in Granite City. The parents and grandfather were the only persons authorized to request school absence for the fourteen year old female." |
