Not really. Just get a small stiff brush and some degreaser and start scrubbing. Whatever chain lube you are putting back on should have some instructions. I used some chain wax the last time I cleaned one and it said to ride for about 5 minutes to heat things up before spraying it down really well with the wax.

Cool graphix

Oh wait...seriously though; I'd buy one off eBay. My Shoei RF-800 had a $299 price tag on the box and I have seen it in that price range at the stores. I didn't pay that much for it, but the guy that bought it did. You can save well over $100 by picking it up off eBay.

FYI: There is a new shop, Cycle Gear, openin up at the intersection of tryon rd and 401 over by the garner walmart. If you are at the light going on 401 from raleigh towards garner, take a left at the light and its on your left, cant miss it, big blue and yellow sign on the building. The best part is the grand opening is tomorrow, the 2nd, and everything is on sale... If you guys want a flyer to know some of the stuff thats on sale, either stop by the store or message me and ill get you one...

Just thought everybody would wanna know...

I guess this is more of a looking to buy post.
I'm a big guy, 6'2", 350 lbs and I want to get a bike to learn on. Eventually I want to get some kind of harley cruiser, but for now anything that's relatively cheap and won't make me look like "an elephant riding a pissant" would be ok. If you have a match, that doesn't need work, let me know the specs in reply or PM with your asking price.

"Selling my 1981 Yamaha Virago. It runs absolutely perfectly - no hesitation
and plenty of power. Air cooled, shaft drive, low maintenence and extremely
reliable. Gets 40mpg on average, and is just a blast to ride. Cosmetically
the tank has a few scratches, and the aluminum is not shiny any more, but
the chrome is all in great shape with no rust. It's been a great daily rider
that has never let me down, but I just have too many bikes and this one has
to go.

The bike has a new battery (installed in February), and plenty of tread left
on the tires. Only 12,000 miles on it. I'm asking $1500, firm.

Hey guys I might seriously be interested in getting a bike. But my question is, I have to wear a suit to work and would like to find out if there is anything you can buy that you can wear over a suit. With a 30+ mile drive each way, I'd like to find any excuse to save money on gas. Plus I'd love to have a damn bike. Riding in the country like that would be a great chance to roll 100+ half the way.

But I need to know what sorta equipment would I need to ride, and is there anyway that I can get a riding outfit that would go over a suit and not make it wrinkled to shit or me feel extremely uncomfortable??

Haha, naw the wife wouldn't let me ride that damn fast. It does have some nice straightaways that if I ever got good at riding and had a fast bike it might be a cool area to ride. But how reliable is a bike for riding like this everyday and how many miles they can handle before they start breaking the hell down?

Oh and BTW I don't have to wear a suit jacket, just dress pants/shirt/tie, thank God.

modern motorcycles are pretty dependable..you take care of them, they will take care of you..not a whole lot different from a car...put gas in em,make sure they have oil and coolant,RIDE SMART..and a bike should be no problem at all...

Triumph Thruxton 900. Its a Cafe Racer throwback and the price isn't too bad.

Opinions?

Alright, I'm serious about selling my Ninja 250 now.

2002 Ninja Ex-250r
~8150 miles
Fresh seals and oil on front forks
Just cleaned and waxed the chain
Just changed the oil
Starts up perfectly everytime even in the winter (with choke of course)
Good front tire, might need a back tire in the next 6 months
Perfect bike to start riding on, that's what I used it for
I'm only selling it because I don't want to take it with me to NYC
It comes with 2 helmets if you want them, one is a large silver HJC the other is just a crappy helmet I got for passengers
It comes with the bag in the picture and also I have two wheel locks for it

Also for sale are two riding jackets
-The first is a mesh tex jacket made by First Gear size large
It's got armor in the back and in the elbows and shoulders
Very nice jacket for riding in the hot southern heat
It's in brand new condition -$100

-The second jacket is a Joe Rocket Sonic black leather jacket size 42
It's got a removable liner which kept me warm with just a t-shirt on underneath in the winter
It also has vents that open and close by zipper on the arms and on the back
-This is also in brand new condition $175

Pictures:

I've got that First Gear mesh jacket. Once you get rolling you can't even tell you are wearing a jacket with it. The air flows completely through it just like if you were only wearing a t-shirt. I give it a thumbs up for summer riding and you can put a windbreaker under it for spring/fall riding.
