I finally ordered my own copy of the series. I've watched it, but my boyfriend and I usually merge libraries. But, like many of you, I need my own Firefly. I mean, I don't want to have to beat up my boyfriend to steal it back or something.

...and Joss Whedon is my master now.

FYI, Firefly is coming to Universal HD. "Serenity: Part 1" airs Sunday, September 24th, at 700PM and 1130PM, and episodes follow every Sunday. There is a bit of discussion on the the avsforum about the original production of the show, whether it was done in HD or 480i widescreen, but regardless this will be a much better presentation than the 4:3 showings on Sci-Fi, and at least slightly better than the current DVDs.
http://www.universalhd.com/Schedule/monthly.bravo?start_date=2006-09-01&end_date=2006-09-30

Also, I only heard about this yesterday, but apparently a group of Firefly fans put together a documentary about the fans of Firefly and how Serenity came to be. This was just released on DVD recently through their site, which can be purchased at
http://www.donetheimpossible.com/index.php. You can also download a good portion of the DVD from http://www.legaltorrents.com/index.htm...its not the whole thing as its mostly being used to promote the DVD, but it gives you a good idea of what youre getting.

Amazon unbox launched a few weeks back and were giving away free episodes of some of the shows, one of which was firefly. I went to the list of episodes and they were in the same order that fox played them in originally! Unbox had only been up for a few hours and the comments were already flooded with people complaining. I checked back today, and amazon fixed it and had a little apology posted. I doubt that firefly sales through amazon would be enough to sway the show back into existence or anything, but at least the show didn't get fucked over for a second time.

Joss's comments as to rumors of a sequel nature at http://whedonesque.com/

Quote :
"Hi boys and odd, smooth, compellingly bumpy non-boys. I'm in Liverpool, on Alexis' lap... sorry, laptop, checking in and seeing all sorts of nonsense about a sequel to something. I did run into someone at Forbidden Planet, and he said something about that I ought to make more things, possibly art things, and I agreed. He didn't know the fellow I was with was Brian Hitch but it was 'cause I'm so, yeah, awesome. Yes, Warren and Natalie and Brian and I had dinner, after nattering on for SFX at the hotel (I like that mag) and it was blazingly fun. They're all three multitalented, urbane, and surprisingly sweet. I'm none of those things but I came the farthest so they had to be nice. BUT...

There's no sequel, no secret project regarding Serenity or somesuch and I'm not even sure how anyone thought there was talk there. I've seen Nathan and Tim (and Summer and Alan) recently because they're my friends because I'm so, yeah, awesome. So let's put that to bed and smother it with a pillow.

Fun fact: Didn't read the thread, but as for James playing Shinzon: that's the reason he left for darkest Africa at the end of season six. We were giving him the time off to do the film. When it didn't happen, the course was already set. But he got a nifty soul and that worked out okay.

Oh, and I heard Marvel pushed back X-Men 18? I've delivered 19, and Johnny's working steadily, so blame the marketplace. In fact, overturn the marketplace, the way Jesus did when he was cranky about that thing that time.

Rolling in Kittens, -j.

HOLY SHIT

Firefly MMORPG Announced

Quote :
"Multiverse has announced that they have gained rights to a Firefly Massively Multiplayer Online Game. Multiverse is a company started by several former Netscape employees, and they have developed an engine/network that works for all of their games. They intend to break into the MMO industry by being an MMO publisher of sorts. By standardizing, they can provide a less expensive alternative to the tens of millions of dollars and several years it takes to currently develop an MMO. They have said they will hire out a studio to build the game for them. Corey Bridgets, Massive's Executive Producer, says: 'If you're doing science fiction, you have to really think it out and create an incredibly rich environment that is compelling in its own right, and worth exploring and going back to week after week. That's what Joss Whedon did with Firefly.'"

Sounds like a mighty fine deal to me.

It said they were hoping to get advance tickets up by April. They'll also have t-shirts for sale, raffles, door prizes and a costume contest like last year.

It's Joss's birthday.

So I saw Serenity back in 2005, but never watched Firefly until I picked up the DVDs last year. I wasn't into the first few episodes, and put it down for a long while. Last week I started watching again and things get A LOT better after the first four or so episodes. Jaynestown, Out of Gas, Ariel, and War Stories were really good. Definitely sad there's only five or so episodes left.
