That could be her dad, which would mean she is 8 during the flashback. Which means this is about 14 years ago.
That puts a wrench in my "Desmond took Locke's legs to save Jack's wife's legs" theory. 9/22/2005 10:43:50 AM |

i taped it but you'd have to come to wilson to watch it
also
because i taped it after "My name is Ear/The Office" you have to rewind the tape about 10 minutes in
i.e., the first 50 minutes of the tape are the last 50 minutes of the show
but there are no commercials
but again, you'd have to drive to wilson 9/22/2005 10:54:37 AM |

boone (who died on the island) and shannon are stepbrother and sister (and they hit it before getting on the plane)
they are very rich but the money came from shannons father boones mother got all the money when shannons father died (presumably in the car accident with jack's wife) so shannon has spent the last several years getting back at boone and his mother including milking boone for money by getting him to pay guys not to date her
boone was like locke jr on the island he did everything locke did, and everything he told him to do he was killed in a second plane crash on the island (he was inside a plane hanging on a tree canopy and it crashed to the ground while he was in the cockpit) 9/22/2005 11:05:10 AM |

i think it would be foolhearted to introduce a second batch of people when we've already got a convoluted web connecting so many of the people we already have
hell, we have people from the front section of the flame we've never met, why would we as an audience want to meet more people 9/22/2005 12:49:10 PM |

I think that, beyond the chick that was in row 48, no one from the tail section will be a main character. Maybe we will see black lady's husband (she wasn't in the last half of season 1 because the actress had schedule conflicts, so let's hope she is in season 2 enough to follow up on her story). If there are any other survivors from the tail section, I imagine there would only be a handful and they would blend in to the extras from the mid section.
But to tell you the truth, I don't think this is going to be "oh hey, we crashed over there, you guys were at the beach the whole time?!". I think it'll be something a little cooler than that.9/22/2005 1:26:21 PM |

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-types-of-space-colonies-have-been-proposed.htm
Quote : | "In 1929, Dr. John Desmond Bernal conceived of the Bernal sphere, a rotating space colony with a diameter of approximately 15 kilometers (9.3 miles), filled with air and colonized around the equator, where the rotation of the colony would create centrifugal force to simulate Earth's gravity.
In the 60s and 70s, speculation and research into the possibility of space colonies experienced a renaissance, brought on by the Space Race. One of the most prominent thinkers participating in the design and advocacy of space colonies was Princeton physicist Gerard O'Neill, who in 1969 asked the provocative question, "Is the surface of a planet really the right place for an expanding technological civilization?" Throughout the 70s, O'Neill led workshops that investigated several proposed space colony designs in great detail. A NASA Summer Study in 1975 investigated three primary designs, dubbed Island One, Island Two, and Island Three. All three are based on the premise of a self-sustaining, artificial ecology within the station, called an arcology.
Island One was the Bernal sphere, an enclosed design (good for protecting against radiation), excepting the poles, which would be left open to allow mirrors to redirect sunlight from the outside to the interior of the colony." |

more questions
less answers
but i was entertained and not pissed off by the end
mainly b/c this is the first episode out of 22+
when it gets halfway through this season and things haven't been answered from last season i'll get pissed again
and if episode 20 comes around and they're still talking about jack's "wife", locke's legs, and how jinn can't speak english and no new developments concerning the island are brought to light, then much more complaining will take place
i really feel like they extended last season just to get ratings, very little significant info was presented, non-important issues were strecthed out. I felt a bit cheated since they essentially wasted time.9/22/2005 2:12:52 PM |

yeah, it would have been cool if they had put the opening of season 2, with Desmond, right after they blew the hatch last year. They blow the hatch and the screen goes blank. Scene shifts inside the bunker and with all the retro shit the audience is thinking "oh, another flashback" Then, boom, we find out the truth, season 1 ends, and the audience is like "what the fuck..." Eh, would have been cool, but last night's show was pretty crazy the way it was. Also, someone mentioned earlier about Desmond executing the program before they blew the hatch...could the program be the "security system"? As for the "Theresa falls up the stairs..," I don't think there will be anything else with it, it was just information that was used to make Boone a believer in what Locke was saying. 9/22/2005 2:16:00 PM |

oh...and do you people not watch enough tv to figure out trends?
I can't believe how many of you were overly surprised that Desmond was the guy down under
everytime they introduce a new character who reacts with a main character in some fashion...that character is somehow important
there's a reason they have Desmond and Jack talking for 5 minutes...
also your guys' theories suck and are waaaaaaaay out there
stop trying to figure out how Desmond got there. that's not important right now. what's important is "Who is Desmond and what's his role?"
obviously since they introduced a direct confrontation between Desmond and Jack, something will be explained within the next two episodes (most likely the next episode). 9/22/2005 2:21:53 PM |

Quote : | "Don't know if this has been noticed before, but I just rewatched the intro to last night's episode, and figured out that Desmond (or whoever it is) is typing the numbers into the computer atthe beginning. His pattern is 4 -space- 8 -space- 15 -space- 16 -space- 23 -space- 42 - Execute. What does that mean the numbers do? He seemed pretty intent on executing that program first thing when he woke up." |
