it means he is .500. I'd expect a good quarterback to be better than 2-2

p.s. 2-2 means he has won as many games as he's lost.

I love how you highlight the statistic that the Falcons run D is ranked in the lower half of the league but you neglect to mention that their offense leads the league in both rushing yards and yards per carry.

Of the top 10 teams in rushing yards per game, they have the worst record.

They also have the worst passing statistics of all those teams except Chicago, and the lowest scoring average of any of those teams except Washington and Chicago.

Congratulations. Vick is better than Kyle Orton. But when it comes down to it, he's just not that productive. Warrick Dunn and the running game carries that offense.

^^Vick is one of the big reasons they're in the top 10 in rushing, dumbass.

And his stats would look a hell of a lot better if guys like Roddy White and Michael Jenkins would stop dropping easy catches. Of course, you guys just see the stat lines, you never actually watch the games when Vick has to make plays by himself because Roddy ran the wrong route or Jenkins dropped his 6th easy catch.

I guess everyone in this thread knows more than all the sports journalists, broadcasters and analysts that say Vick is a great QB.

^^ I love the argument "he has no one to throw to" considering that, even in a losing effort, the backup QB can throw for almost 300 yards. See, what you really want to play up is the "OMG VICK HAS A CANNON FOR AN ARM AND HIS PASSES BREAK FINGERS" -- you know, the stereotypical Favre commentary.

And I watch more Falcons games than I care to. They're the secondary regional team, so their games come on fairly often. I know I've watched more Falcons games on a Sunday than Packers games.

I've seen them say he's a great athlete. Not so sure about a great QB though.

^^^you fucking moron, even without Vick's 42 rushing yards per game they would still be in the top half of the league in rushing. Their running attack is dominant. The fact that they've only won 8 games with it and only score 22 ppg just shows that Vick is ineffective in running an offense.

^^Schaub threw for 300 against a third-string defense. Of course, you knew that, but didn't want to mention it, since it would kill your argument.

^Haha, you're calling me a fucking moron when you fail to understand why Atlanta only averages 22 points per game. If you knew anything about football, you would know that when you have a horrible defense, teams dominate time of possession against you, leaving you with less time to operate your offense.

Vick isn't what's killing Atlanta. He and Dunn are the two guys that have made them competitive. Defense and lack of WR's is what's killing Atlanta. It's pretty fucking simple, ask anyone whose job is sports.

That's not the argument. You're saying they have no wide receivers when they obviously have people capable of catching.

Also, Vick barely threw for over 225 combined in games against the Jets and the first game against Saints. Then he goes on later in the season to throw for a couple of 200+ yard games, so it's obviously not the receivers that are his undoing. They seem to be more than capable of catching the ball.

I'm really surprised you guys aren't using the typical Falcons fans' approach of cursing the name of Greg Knapp every chance you get.

^^Atlanta's defense is not terrible. WTF are you talking about? Its a very average D. It's in the middle of the pack in yards allowed and scoring allowed.

Also time of possession...wtf? Back that up with some fucking stats. I am willing to bet that Atlanta's average time of possession is greater than its opponents. You're so full of shit.

You should stop posting. You've gone from throwing shit up on your keyboard to making a fool of yourself. That statement alone shows how much you know about the NFL.

Once again, maybe you should watch these games before you comment on them. Anyone who watched the ATL/TAM game knows how Atlanta's defense gave that game away. That wasn't a fluke, this defense is horrible. Mathis and a healthy Kerney would have helped a lot, but they didn't play and the defense was fucking shameful this season.

Their defense isn't terrible, but it's barely at mediocre.

Atlanta was 11th in the league in TOP.

Also, considering the Falcons are a heavily rush-first team, I don't understand why you would think someone else would dominate them in TOP to begin with.

Actually, they're 19th in TOP.

I was taking into account the fact that they're a rush-first team. They're a rush-first team with a top 10 running game and they're 19th in TOP.

Seriously, all you have to do is watch the games they've played this season. I'm not talking about watching one ATL/CAR game or highlights on ESPN, I'm talking about watching all their games. Their defense was solid early on with Mathis and Kerney, then they lost those two and had some other minor injuries and the whole season went in the tank.

I absolutely knew that Atlanta was going to give up those late scores to Tampa last week. Like I said, it's fucking pathetic.

I stand corrected. Guess I miscounted or typed the wrong number or whatever.

Either way, how the hell are they that bad in TOP? They're behind Arizona who hasn't had a hundred yard rusher all season.

Fuck, Arizona hasn't even had a 60 yard rusher all season.

PS: Donald Driver is very good

With Walker he is one of the best 2nd goto guys in the entire league

just check his stats when he is the main guy

not bruce / holt but not bad

You want to talk about recievers, pack just picked up carolinas reject and Lee is getting catchs , a converted running back.

If you can convince me in under 300 words how Lee is better then Crumpler, ill give you 5$.

i definitely think vick sucks as a quarterback, but i don't think you can use his 2-2 playoff record as criticism against him. i still contend that win/loss record is not a quarterback's stat. plus, i think peyton manning is an excellent quarterback and the colts are notorious for losing in the playoffs.

I've watched ATL play, and I've seen Vick play well, but I've also seen Vick play like shit. I've seen him over-throw wide open WR's, I've seen him throw it over their heads, and I've seen him under-throw it, and some of those led to picks.

So I've seen some of his games, and I STILL don't think he's the QB you make him out to be. He's a great athlete, no one will argue that. I just think he relies too heavily on his legs than on his arm and I think teams are developing ways to stop the scrambling QB(taking TB's schemes) and when they get that straightened out, Vick will become a middle of the road QB. With the new and faster defenders(LB's and DE's) and with new schemes and the growing trend of mobile QB's, eventually you'll see his rushing stats going down, and knowing Vick, his injury count going up.

I'll be watching the Carolina game this week, and I'll see if it's the Vick that beat them all those times in a row, or if it's the Vick I watched stink it up this year.

And yes Donald Driver is a solid #2 WR, but with him being double-teamed and sometimes given safety help, he can't do what he would do if Walker was there.

And people complaining about ATL's OL, there's no way they'd be top 10 in rushing and have a pro-bowl RB if they didn't have a solid OL. So that's not an argument, Vick has enough time, and with his legs he should be able to make time for himself if need be. He just likes to drop back, take forever, then scramble.

Now that's funny. I can't tell you how many times in the past week I've heard sports commentators talk about how Vick doesn't belong in the Pro Bowl, even with the overall quarterback suckery in the NFC.

you might want to look at the Falcons playoff record for the years vick has been there.

falcons playoff history since vick was drafted

• Jan. 23, 2005 - NFC Championship - Philadelphia 27, Atlanta 10 (L)

• Jan. 15, 2005 - NFC Divisional - Atlanta 47, St. Louis 17 (W)

• Jan. 11, 2003 - NFC Divisional - Philadelphia 20, Atlanta 6 (L)

• Jan. 4, 2003 - NFC Wild Card - Atlanta 27, Green Bay 7 (W)

Vick does have some bad passes as do many qbs even peyton but when vick broke 2 attempts at a sack and threw a perfect pass to a receiver only to have it dropped that is not his fault. or when his wr 's keep dropping passes all game not his fault.

He went 8-7 with one of the worst defenses in the league on his team.

That is "winning games".

You think Drew Brees was going 8-7 on that team? hahaha yeah right.

And if you really want, you could say 8-6 since Schaub is the one that fumbled one of those games away.

how do you factor in that the only TD the falcons scored on sunday was with schaub in the game? vick got abused...the falcons organization is fucked, they took a great athlete and fucked him into a shit ass pocket qb...west coast offense my ass...theres a reason the falcons have NEVER had back to back winning seasons

^^Did you watch the last 4-5 games the Chargers had? LT looked like an average RB at best. But I think he was limited because of injuries.

And Warrick Dunn is a pro-bowler, so it isn't like Vick doesn't have a RB in his backfield.

Funny thing is, the Falcons will end up with the same postseason hardware as the Panthers (none) and will get a higher draft pick.

I seem to remember you being a little less cocky last season when you lost all those bets.

I don't think teams take pride in having a better draft slot.

Could you see two GMs discussing that the day after week 17 ends?

Panthers GM: We've got a tough road ahead of us in the playoffs, but I believe in these guys--
Falcons GM: ...oh yeah? Well, well well well, um, shit... WE'LL BE DRAFTING >=8 SLOTS AHEAD OF YOUR TEAM! SEE YOU IN APRIL LOSER

Michael Vick does more than enough to win games. He can't do anything about dropped passes. No one but the receivers themselves can do anything about that.
