Yeah, they're starting to get their rhythm back now.

They looked pretty ugly at the beginning of the last series, but it's all gelling again.

yeah i caught it, they mentioned Monty Towe's name too.

I just put $100 on the Clippers at +200.

I really can't see Phoenix beating LAC the more i think about it and +200 is downright absurd.

So if you're looking to triple your money in the next 2 weeks, I just told you how to do it.

I'm tellling you guys. It's not everyday you find a team at approximately +200 that SHOULD be favored.
Don't hold back on this one.

Look at this thing rationally.

LAL had Phoenix's back against the wall. They absolutely destroyed the Suns down low with Kwame and Odom. Expect the Clippers to do the same with Brand & Kaman.

The difference is that the Lakers had absolutely no perimeter shooting to make Phoenix pay for collapsing down low. The Clippers have plenty of shooting with Radmanovic, Mobley, and Maggette.

Nash really did whatever the hell he wanted to against the Lakers on offense. He'll probably fair pretty well vs the Clippers too. But Nash is a total defensive liability and he can't really guard anyone. Luckily for him, he didn't have to because Smush Parker was so atrocious. Sam Cassell isn't going to have any of that. Cassell is a playoff warrior and he's gonna average 20ppg, book it. His specialty is mid-range jumpers and he's going to be able to get those anytime he wants them.

The Clippers are hungry. Not only has this franchise always sucked, but most of these players have been on a lot of losing teams. Phoenix is tired. Diaw wasn't the same player against the Lakers and Marion struggled a lot (though some of that was b/c Odom was a tough matchup for him).

The only real problem I see in this series for the Clippers is going to be Radmanovic & Kaman's inability to guard the pick & rolls. They are both a step slow and Nash is going to use whoever they are guarding to run those plays...

I'm calling Clippers in 6.

Spurs (5 games) Off by one game

Mavs (5 games) I gave the Grizz too much credit, off by one game

Pretty good start....

2nd round i had

That looks solid to me, except for the Suns pick which after seeing them against the Lakers Im not confident in.

Good game, everything was going according to plan for the Clippers until:

1) two mystery travel violations on Brand & Maggette.

2) Dunleavy coached them out of the game by removing Cassell for too long and taking out Brand when it was 101-101 (2 minutes later it was 112-103). Oh and by not realizing Kaman is getting them KILLED and they need to go with Radmanovic

3) Phoenix started shooting lights out

wow the nba really doesnt have any defense at all when the LOSING team shoots about 60% from the floor

well Phoenix cant defend the interior because their two best big men are hurt.

It's kinda unfair to rail them for losing the best big man in basketball and their best defensive player don't you think?

The Clips just werent ready to defend the pick & roll. Kaman gave up nearly 50 points himself on those switches and slow rotations. The Suns shot LIGHTS out from the 3pt line.

Basketball is an offensive sport.

If Barbosa, Corey Maggette, etc get an ounce of daylight they are scoring and that's that.

You are just confusing the lack of offense in college basketball for a lack of defense in the NBA. The NBA plays WAY better defense than college teams do.

agreed. defense is played in the nba, its just that guys have better shot selection and are better at finding/creating open spots on the floor.

i'd say most players in the nba have at least 1 shot that cannot be stopped by 1 or even 2 defenders. the majority of college players have not yet developed this shot.

when Steve Nash runs a pick and roll with Diaw or Marion what exactly do you do on defense?

How the hell is your PF or C supposed to get a hand in Nash's face AND keep him from driving by and scoring or dishing to a cutting swingman who is now being guarded by your point guard?

If you rotate another guy over he's just gonna throw it in the corner to an open Raja Bell who is gonna nail a three.

It's almost impossible to defend. You just do the best you can and hope you can outscore them on the other end.

I mean if Engin Atsur could actually complete his drives to the basket, Simmons could catch the ball on pick and rolls, or Brackman could hit the three then we'd be pretty damn tough to defend too.

But those guys cant do those things...

Nash, Diaw, and Bell can.

think about how good hodge was at scoring in college

now think about the fact that he cant even crack the 10 man rotation of a shoddy playoff team

that will helt to illustrate the point

im pretty sure when they interviewed sam cassell, he said the reason they lost (despite shooting almost 60% and Elton Brand scoring 40 pts) was because they didnt play defense

well just b/c the defense was bad that night doesnt mean it is bad a whole in the nba

and it also doesnt mean that a bad nba d isnt better than a good college d

and the suns are known as a bad D team so i wont attempt to argue that.

right, NBA players are just elite.

Your rec league coach probably told you basketball was a defensive sport.

And he was right, for 8 year olds it is. Because an 8 year old cant nail every jump shot or drive to the hoop with authority.

In high school you can move your feet and get a hand up and stop most people.

I mean I'm 23, have bad knees, and no discernable leg strength but in a 1-1 or 2-2 game you aren't gonna stop me from scoring all over you unless you're 6'2+ and quick.

Now imagine that my shooting/scoring ability is 1/50th of a guy like Corey Maggette (who isnt even really a household name).

Barbosa is faster than many wild animals.

There's only so much you can do.

You can get a hand up, but Ray Allen is still going to nail threes. Elton Brand is still going to hit 10 footers.

You play for steals, you box out, you get a hand up, you rotate defensively, you double team mismatches, and you try to alter shots.

Shane Battier was a defensive standout in college and he's pretty run of the mill defensively in the NBA. You cant just draw charges when Vince Carter is 42 inches off the ground and he teleported from the 3-pt line to the basket in one dribble and 2 steps.

from my days of coaching....

If a team kept running a pick and roll that was successfulk against us, I'd switch it up and throw a box and 1 or a triange 2 at those fuckers.

/pick and roll.

NBA teams should follow suit.

under 6'1 and you're not defending me one on one. and if you're much taller than that you're probably screwed too.

By the way Im calling Dallas tonite over San Antonio.

Duncan should look a little worn down and unless Manu can just carry the Spurs I dont see them winning again tonite...

JTerry is bound to shoot better and the Spurs are gonna have trouble guarding Stackhouse again since Nowitzki is drawing Bowen.

Detroit in another romp, but thats not really tough to call
