Here are some in-game shots of FFXII: Revenant Wings. Looks like it will have the 2D FF Tactics look.

Do you have to be at a certain point in the game for some bazaar items to turn up? I've sold all the stuff I need for Francisca but it's not showing up.

the bazaar is fucking stupid

some items require you to sell all the loot at once, etc.

im just past getting francisca and maybe the diamond sword. even the strategy guide says that all you have to do is keep selling loot, not all at once or anything.

from what i understand:

if the 'super sword' requires 3 apples, 3 pears, and 3 oranges

and the 'cool sword' requires 5 apples, 5 pears, and 5 oranges

if you sell 3 apples, pears, and oranges, you will be able to buy the super sword, but the remaining 2 apples, pears, and oranges will not go towards the cool sword -- they're just thrown away

this game sucked when it came to good treasure and items. Theres so many twists, turns, and rules when it came to getting good treasure. i gave up lookin around in areas for treasure cause i knew it was either gonna be a) a potion b) a knot of rust or c) 1-10 gil.

the bazaar would be better if u could keep track of what u sold or something like that

for real

the only time i've found significant amounts of gil in a chest was when i went back to the barheim passage

and the bazaar system sucks ass

yeah there's a chest that sometimes appears in the Barheim passage and I randomly got like 1000+ gil

that's also where you can steal a Deathbringer..as many times as you want from a mimic

played a lot today.. i'm way behind all you.. work too much

I just left the main continent.. I'm in Bjerba (SP?) lol

I'm lvl 11 on all my chars tho (Basch is 12).. spent a LONG time in the estersand getting LP.. was killing the wolves, cockatrice and ichtons... I couldn't do Basch's Liscense board until after he joined my party again in the city, so when I looked at it, I had 658 LP to play with

ran into one nasty mo fo out there... it wasn't the super-cockatrice (i whooped him several times).. this thing was a HUGE white dog-looking thing (Greeden maybe?).. needless to say i ran like a bitch from him... could anyone beat him the first time thru? i think i read in the strategy guide that he was a rare spawn.

Quickenings are baffling me.. I can only get a couple, but it's already been discussed here so I'm just gonna go back over what you people said on other pages. I get to level again in the mines off the skele's!!!

People complaining about the chests and all. When you get far into the game, and I mean near the Crystal place, can't remember the name, you can buy a crystal armguard I think, some kind of accessory. It helps gain better and more rare items from chests, etc. I've been getting a lot of 2000-5000 gil chests, but the knots of rust do still piss me the fuck off

I feel kind of worthless. I've put 66 hours into it, and VII took me less hours. I guess it just comes from going around and doing all the stuff this time, damn this game being even more addictive then OC's and crack. I've spent the last 3 nights playing until 7 in the morning after starting at 11 at night, but i guess being blazed helps alot

you said you saw it in the estersand? not sure what you'd be talking about, unless you meant that 2nd mark (the big colorful wolf thing, it's name escapes me) that you find in the westersand...

no.. it was in estersand.. the map to the north of where you come out of the Barheim passage.. near the small village with the ferry

anyways, I just spent the past 3 hours in the Lhusu Mines fighting skeletons... here are the numbers:

- 134 Chain
- 1 death (after coming back without the little boy, it was tougher than I thought)
- 91 Bone Fragments
- 194 gil = the price the Bone Fragments sold for EACH
- 15/16 = Fran and Vaan's level/Basch's level
- 10 = Balthier's level

[Edited on December 17, 2006 at 1:05 PM. Reason : the 2nd mark is Thextera.. he had 300hp.. lol]

Since I'm at work so much lately.. I've been reading a lot more about the game than actually playing (this thread especially).

From what I've gathered so far from playing, I think Vaan and Basch will definately be in my main party. Basch has good magic power and attack power (good tank/white mage) and vaan has the speed so he's my thief/tank. i was reading that Katana's factor in both attack power and magic power as damage is concerned, so I was going to make Basch a katana wielding tank with the genji gloves. I was going to have Vaan be a shield wielding swordsman until I got the zodiak spear, then give that to him.

What would a good 3rd character be? Balthier friggen blows IMO. Fran hits HARD cuz i got a good bow for her, but she misses about a quarter of the time. Since I'm so early in the game, I don't know who else I'll get (Pinelo and Ashe so I've read). Any ideas for a 3rd member? Black mage? Healer/Archer sounds good to me, but Frans magic kinda sucks.

^I would say for now, Fran is your best bet...I still use her in my primary party

I try and keep everyone at the same level...a little more of a pain, but it pays off

anyways my two teams are

Vaan 64 (Greatsword)
Ashe 63 (shield/sword/healing)
Fran 63 (bow/black magic/mild healing)

Penelo 57 (spear/healing)
Balthier 57 (Axe/shield)
Basch 57 (sword/shield)

all of them have a bubble belt so I don't really have to worry about HP or having a tank

gahdamn.. i'm seriously thinkin about calling in sick tomorrow cuz i want to play this game so bad

i love leveling up.. i thought my 130+ chain was awesome, but i'm gonna have to go back and do some more...

I saved right as i got back into town and i'm doin the stupid thing where vaan runs around town screaming that he is basch... wonder if i go back into the dungeon if i'll be alone or have everyone with me... if everyone is with me.. i'm not leaving until all 4 are level 20

I'm going through a second time. Does Vaan have to be l30 for Dispel to appear in shops? I'm about to beat the bomb king, run grab the zodiac spear and go back to the quest.

PS: Got francisca after selling everything at once. ;-;

You know, I've actually had some good success with Balthier. True, his attack is slow, but around mid-game that gun of his will take a good chunk out of most enemies. Throw in some light healing, and he's not that bad.

Francisca's a +89 axe you can get in the bazaar by selling 6 wind magicite (drop from dive talons, westersand), 2 pointed horns (lizard steal/drop in garamsythe waterway) and 4 marlboro fruit (same place, guess which monster). All at once. It's available at the weapons shop in Archades if you want to wait for 11,500gil.

At least I'm not considering skipping work to play it. ^-^

I like using Balthier because he reminds me of FroshKiller. Arrogant verbose prick. <3

currently I've beaten every Hunt possible for the time being (I'm at the highest guild level) and am right at when I go to the ancient town of Giruvega or whatever it's called

So, I've been trying to figure out quickenings... Is this how to do it best?

Main 3 do a quickening chain.. RIGHT AFTER the Inferno or whatever happens, and you see the dmg hit the monster, hit triangle and switch someone out, right? because I was trying to switch one out during the actual quickening and couldn't...

anyways.. I spent a little bit leveling up in the sandseas... found several rare game (elite and that really bright ball.. there are some in every main map i think, the name slips my mind).. anyways, after killing the elite, he dropped a katana.. so I'm not even at the first demon wall yet and Basch is doing 500 dmg swings, sometimes combo'ing for up to 1500 damage per turn.. all 6 of my characters are level 23 except vaan and basch.. level 25

^^considering you're not even a fourth of the way through the game and I finished with all of my characters under level 50, you can go ahead and get back to the story without worrying about much. How many hours have you put in?

you can buy syphon from the airship vendor...

its a lot better than charge

you get your tank with all the augments, haste, bravery, and berzerk, and he'll be gaining MP like mad from hitting and taking hits...when your casters get low MP, just syphon it from your tank, and he'll build it back in seconds.

Jeez people get to the end of the game before doing all the side quests and stuff. i mean completing all of them before you get to giruvegan is just like torturing yourself.
also if you get to the nechrol of nabudis from the salikawood you can get to a secret room with a guy hiding behind a pillar, he will sell you some of the best armor you can buy (level 9 heavy armor i believe)
get that shit then go and kill the high level marks its so much easier.
has anyone bought the cat ear (whatever) accessory's from the clan vendor yet? they raise your speed to like 80 and your normal time in between attacks with that is the same as having haste all the time!

just beat gilgamesh, got the 4 genji parts and picked up Yagyu Darkblade on the way after some very stupid rare spawn chaining.

if you think you beat this to quickly around lvl 50 or so, the real challenges dont start till much later.
