latest verdict:

1- Both pilots are free of any charge, they wont be penalized.
2- McLaren loses all the constructor points
3- 100.000.000 € penalty for McLaren

this one is supposed to be confirmed!

pilots = drivers?

Didn't Alonso mention he was being fed Ferrari info from his engineer? (or did I make that up) Shouldn't that have led him to come forward & render him somewhat responsible?

If the above is true, it seems like they're tailoring the results to keep from spoiling Hamilton's rookie season.

the FIA stated last week that if the drivers cooperated with the investigation and handed over emails and other crap then they would basically have a free pass from any wrongdoing. I don't think Mclaren actually used the ferrari data to better their car, and neither does the FIA/WMSC (at least not enough evidence to prove they did). This punishment is for the team in HAVING and not turning over the tech documents quickly.

ah damn

well at the least the drivers points will stay, if those were eliminated then whats the point of racing.

Let this be a lesson- share SOME stuff in F1 with other teams but not certain things

don't fuck with the FIA either

Of course people(or team if any) who were involved in this spy thing should be purnished.
However, I am not happy that Ferrari wins the constructor's championship by excluding McLaren. I don't consider it the real championship. I'd like Ferrai/Kimi Raikkonen to win the constructor's/driver's championship by fair races.

F1 industry is very unclear...

This is very funny...

I think a 2 year suspension would have been an appropriate punishment for McLiars . Read http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/6995240.stm.

Quote :
"In what is being viewed as the most damning section of the report, the FIA has published an email exchange between De la Rosa and Alonso.

"All the information from Ferrari is very reliable," De la Rosa wrote to Alonso on 25 March in an exchange about the Ferrari's weight distribution.

"It comes from Nigel Stepney, their former chief mechanic - I don't know what post he holds now.

"He's the same person who told us in Australia that Kimi (Raikkonen) was stopping in lap 18. He's very friendly with Mike Coughlan, our chief designer and he told him that." "

Spyker is actually doing better than many teams in terms of forward progress

Ferrari may just win out the rest of the season, McLaren really has lost some spark although the drivers can still win the championship; but after today Raikkonen is still in the hunt for that too

As far as Spygate, a bit late I know, my British racing friend has told me (so take it for what you will) that Stepney and Coughlan were going to leave at the end of the year and go to Honda at the end of the year with the information. They'd shopped it around to other teams and I guess Honda won the "auction". Imagine how much that would've upset the apple cart? Takuma Sato is currently Honda's top driver in 15th place with 4 points.

He says Alonso tried to blackmail Dennis into firing Hamilton and he would not turn the info in to the FIA. And that's why Dennis turned the info over to FIA on his own accord.

And guess how Coughlan got caught? He was passing out copies inside McLaren and his wife was at a local copy center scanning copies to disk. The manager was a little suspicious as there were 4 F1 teams in the area and none of them were Ferrari and he called the cops!

And Stepney's in hiding. From who, not sure, maybe the tifosi.

Here's the full text of the FIA statement: http://www.fia.com/resources/documents/17844641__WMSC_Decision_130907.pdf

The Empire WILL Strike back at Japan.

Fuji should be awesome, with the big mountain in the background. Layout looks cool too, I loved Suzuka though, a figure 8 design like a slot car track

Fuji better provide better racing than what it actually seems like it will. I really don't like the changes as far as making the track flow nicely.

^^ Fuji is not like Monza, it is like montreal and indy. It has 1 long straight with lots of slow corners and very few high speed corners.

Lets see how Ferrari's new upgrade helps the F2007. Otherwise, it is a easy win for McLarens.

instead you pull for mclaren. a team that cheats. a team with alonso as its no.1 driver. alonso is a bitch. he swerves at lapped traffic when they don't get out of his way fast enough & if all that nonsense about him turning more info over to the FIA unless Dennis fired Hamilton...

way to go team.

I don't like Alonso. But like I said, I have followed McLaren since Hakkinen drove for them, so its not like I joined a bandwagon.

some people follow a specific driver like myself.
If Raikkonen had stayed at McLaren, I would still follow him/McLaren.

I have never disliked Ferrari. I know how great Michael Shumi was.., but I didn't like how he cheated on the race sometimes.

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but everyone cheats in racing. There are hundreds of examples of this, the Mclaren thing just being the most recent. If you think who ever you follow doesn't cheat, it's not because they don't, it's because they haven't been caught (I'm talking more along the lines of bending/stretching rules for the most part...). Don't discredit Schumi's greatness because of cheating...

I have never discredited Schumi's greatness. Did you read my previous comment correctly? I said I know how great he was. And I
I was talking about his cheating thing on the track. I know he is not the only one that has cheated. But his cheating was sometimes too obvious and made people think of his lack of sportsmanship.

Anyway, it seems Scott Speed is gonna race as a Redbull racer for ARCA next year...

Nah he cant go back to Ferrari because he was never there

He could go back to Renault, and that is likely to happen. Or Toyota will grab him to replace R Schumacher

Or he will "retire"

He's only signed on to run one ARCA race in two weeks at Talladega. This is the same race where Montoya made his stock car debut last year. Dario Franchitti is also going to be in the race and appears to have taken all the buzz away from Speed. But I guess being married to Ashley Judd and winning the Indy 500 will do that.

Yea, it's likely that Alonso is going back to Renault. It's said that Flavio Briatore asked ING for a few more millions of dollars to get him. But it would be very interesting if he goes to Toyota. Many teams can't afford to pay a large amount of money to McLaren to end the contract with Alonso.

The relationship between Ron Dennis and Fernando Alonso totally cooled off. They haven't talked to each other since the beginning of August.

I think that Alonso will either stick to McLarens or go to a team which will give him the #1 status. Ferrari will not give #1 status to Alonso, so moving there is quite unlikely.
'blackmailed team boss' and all the stepneygate stuff is not going to look good on his resume. So, I think Renaults would be his best bet.

I'd like to see Alonso race for Toyota!!!
Toyota is not happy with Ralf Schumi at all, so they desperately want Alonso. The contract with Alonso would be way higher than Ralf's, but he can give smashing results for them.

I don't think Alonso would go to Ferrari either. But it seems true that Massa visited Toyota at Belgium GP. (Massa coule be No.1 driver for Toyota for sure.)

If Alonso decides to go back to Ranault, he would be No.1 driver and Kovalainen No.2. Probably Nelson Piquet Jr would look for another team who lets him race next season because he thinks it is enough for him to be a test driver.

umm too many rumors!!!!
Off-season may be very interesting because of this...
