I can't find anything online confirming or denying this but itunes found the phone # on the sim card i put in just fine and they processed my registration/activation stuff the same as everybody else's... no clue if it'll work yet since (like damn near everyone) i'm still waiting for at&t to activate the shit

i personally want one terriably, mainly to have my contacts sync up and emails w/ me, I use a mac currently so I'm assuming all this will work better and since I don't currently have a smart phone I figured I'd get an iphone. But i i have to wait for the gps. I drive to much and use my vz navigator so much i can't replace it with the iphone till the google maps thing has gps support... then i'll throw down. and given my phone track record insurance would be nice too.

Just observed an iPhone experience that completely sums up my thoughts about it.

I'm at Moe's eating lunch, there's a family at the next table. Guy pulls out the iPhone and he starts talking about how it has "GPS" aka google maps, and internet and he can do everything with it.

The parents are WOWED by it. So of course they say "ooh can you find our house". Sure he says, just push here and the map opens and you enter your address.

"Oh wait, no not like that, see you have to push the keys with your fingertips" he says, the old guy still cant do it. "Here I'll put in the address, ok there, see here it comes..." All four of them sit there transfixed on the little loading symbol for a little over a minute.

The dad : "is it broken? its okay you can show me later", "oh its not broken, it's just really slow sometimes." So then he shows them "youtube" on it. Two minutes later the monkey on a skateboard finally starts playing. The dad says (I almost lost it on this one) "Did you send me that email a while ago?" The kid "Yea but now we can watch in on the PHONE".

Every single thing they tried to show the parents resulted in waiting and waiting and retrying and oops and oh yea here it is finally. Both the mom and dad were bored with it in 30 seconds and just kept nodding their heads.

He kept saying over and over and over again "yeah its really slow here for some reason, but it uses EDGE which is really fast and it's everywhere". Hahahahahaha

To activate the phone you had to bring it home and hook it up to iTunes and fill out your account info, AT&T is saying that it was Apple's responsibility to then pass along the information to them for activation and that Apple is dropping the ball on that but of course Apple says it's all AT&T's fault that they're holding up their end of the deal, meanwhile AT&T says the opposite

people activating with a new #/account are getting their shit working pretty quick if not instant while it's been a 24+ hour wait to have an old number transfered, whether it is one that was on AT&T or another provider doesn't seem to matter.

Call 1-877-800-3701 I just did it and had to wait on hold for 45 minutes but once they picked up they instantly activated it, I got the number off a Cingular forum.....I have no idea why they activated it so easily when I called that number but everyone else has been giving me the run around for two days
