This only applies if lower mileage cars are available at the same cost.

Hence, Market Value.

^^^agreed. for depreciation of a given MODEL.

Soundboy just wanted to know about the rate of how quickly HIS dollars are disappearing. HIS car "depreciates" (loses its value) per unit mileage because it becomes less desirable than other instances of the same model and year.

i was just thinking the motor was close to bomb proof, as far as depriciation. i wasnt worried about the miles. just knowing the mods you can throw at those motors and the power you can make. i like them

^^I know. your point is pretty tightly stated:
Quote :
"Depreciation is dependent on market value.

Not mileage."

I put "depreciation" in quotes to separate it from how you meant it. My coke can "depreciates" after I open it, but coke as a quantity to be imbibed, even in an open can, is no less desirable to the market. I think you've conveyed your point.

I don't know about you but to me an open can of coke is worthless if I wasn't the one who opened it to drink it. And even if i did, after sitting out for an hour or so its worthless.

point: bad analogy.

heaven forbid you adopt the reasonable interpretation that doesn't cause confusion.

I suppose you could assume that the person opening the coke is osama bin laden in a middle eastern cave and that he also shit in it before mailing it to you. OR, you could take the "anyman" interpretation that I left wide the fuck open for your enjoyment.

For the sake of your stifling stupidity, here:

1. how often have you attempted to drink a can of coke that hasn't been opened?
(~how many used cars have you driven with zero miles on the clock?)
and

2. whether or not I pop open MY coke has nothing to do with whether you'll start to prefer coke in unpopped cans. my coke's being opened has nothing to do with the attractiveness of popped cans of coke.
(~whether or not I have 50k on my 2004 car has nothing to do with whether you'll start to buy used cars of the same model with zero miles on the clock. my car's 50k has nothing to do with the attractiveness of other used cars on the market with unknown nonzero mileage.)

this is where you say oops...my bad because...

You open a can of coke it goes flat after sitting out in open air for an hour or so. Does it taste just as good now? NO...so who's going to pay anything let alone take it for free? No one.

as I said, bad analogy....you are comparing a perishable item to a non-perishable item. GG

a better analogy would be...

You buy a rolex for $10,000 and keep it in tip top shape, no scratches etc...you can turn around and sell it for a decent amount because its still a desirable item to a certain crowd.

Much like an Evo is a desirable item to certain car lovers (and no its nothing like a rolex, not even in the same class). As long as the evo is in good shape, well taken care of, you can still turn around and sell it for a decent price.

point: you're a fucking idiot.

I don't need you to toss a Fox News style analogy to prove that I'm right, nig. I know that I'm right.

I'm merely pointing out that your well intentioned, yet utterly vapid posting is not needed.

Well, most of you do not drive the automobile perfection, the very epitome of engineering and manufacturing, the culmination of all that is good about cars, the BMW 335i.

um yeah no....its a great car and all...but there are far better cars that I would give the "automobile perfection, the very epitome of engineering and manufacturing, the culmination of all that is good about cars" award to...besides...in what category? hardly luxury OR performance.

except I wasn't referring to 'our' car at all. The Evo is by no means the best car on the road in any category. Except potentially mod-ing?

Do you any of you evo guys have an 8/9/MR blow off valve? It would be a great upgrade for the stock one on my 3000GT VR-4. If they don't recirculate, it would be great if there was an adapter too.

I don't think a car exists < 45k that really matches a 335i to be honest.

-300 hp / 300 tq - easily moddable
-most refined chassis in a car in that price range
-excellent handling
-solid interior
-An engine that doesn't sound like its on the verge of exploding.

As for acceleration times: Evo acceleration times include AWD launches which naturally give an edge but I'll be damned if the 335i doesn't try half as hard to get moving.

I can't wait till the M3 hits the streets.

i find it hard to believe that the 335i is a better machine than an Evo if you consider nothing besides how good of a balls-out, no-holds-barred performance platform each car is.

if you want something more well rounded, it's not really a contest.

^^I wasn't factoring in Price range for either car. Just saying...as nice of a car as the 335i is...its still not the best of the best. It is something, however, I'd love to drive.

Duke.

6 cylinder inline six twin turbo.

It doesn't way THAT much more either.

I mean yea, if you wanted to have a pure, stripped track car then the Evo is a lot closer to the mark but balls out power wise I think the N54 powerplant is way more a driver's motor.

I'd love to have an opportunity to drive a 335i on track right after my evo.

well, it goes a little deeper than just power to weight ratio

although the IX is SO tuneable, that i feel like it could pretty easily keep pace in that department.

Both weigh too much!!

Did you guys seriously argue for an entire page about how mileage effects the value of a mitsubishi?

Ill give you a hint, its a fucking rice boy car, mileage effects it a fucking lot. You can twist your definitions from ECON101 all you want.

if you can pay $35k for the car, you can afford 18/24 of premium. it really isn't that bad considering anyone driving a truck even with a small V8 is spending way more money.
