my 20 dollar rear plugged tire held up the whole WAY
oh yah we had to stop every 90-100 miles for my ghey bear sprockets gas mileage FTL but the sprockets were good for the dragon. I wish we stayed longer or trailered bikes so we woulda had more energy to run the dragon 3/26/2007 8:14:07 AM |

non here. I'm thinking he either is going to be calling from his cell for a ride home or from the county jail to be bailed out...which would mean he won't have his cell phone on him and would only call someone who's number he has memorized. He was riding about 1.5 ft away from my bumper with no headlight or anything...cop seemed pretty pissed having to use his siren and all. 3/26/2007 8:32:24 AM |

i was thinking the same thing. I was trying to get him to pass me and ride infront of me with you guys. Cause tailgating a foot away is probably worse than riding with a busted front end in a group of other bikes. 3/26/2007 8:43:27 AM |

Yeah it was crazy. I managed to bent my rear lower control arm pretty bad. Used a jack to semi-straighten it, drove back 350 miles in that condition. Fortunately the car drove fine, except steering wheel was at 45 degree angle in order to go straight. Laid bike, lost wallet, broken suspension, bad transmission, ticket, broken camera ….this trip was a bad omen, but fun nonetheless. You all realize we drove 32 hours in 2 days?
Mark nearly gave me a heart attack with trail braking 1 inch away from the edge of the cliff. Great driver and great car.[/evo respect]
Bikers …I don’t know how you all did it. I was tired as hell, I cant imagine how I would feel after being on a bike that long.
Overall, 5 tons of fun, but very exhausting.
Thanks everyone who helped out.
I'll be uploading pics later tonight... 3/26/2007 9:03:54 AM |

I don't think I'd call it trailbraking as much as I'd call it going into a turn way to hot and braking midway while turning and almost losing complete control.
Being 2 feet from the rear bumper and observing the whole thing gives an entirely different perspective.
Any other car and that would have been 3 fatalities.
GG Jeff for NOT HAVING THE CAMERA READY ON TIME there though.

we aren't talking about that one turn. that was going in too hot because i didn't realize the turn was as sharp plus there was a dip and change in elevation so giving steering input + fully compressed springs = bad idea.
trailbraking is what i've been doing all day sat. and sunday to help rotate the car. you should try it out sometime although i would recommend it on track first 3/26/2007 10:05:19 AM |

Dude yes, you were definitely the only one trail braking this weekend.
Though I shouldn't talk, I pulled the same shit and almost wrecked on the skyway in the middle of the night. 3/26/2007 10:13:28 AM |

well it sounded like you didn't quite understand what trailbraking was and were jumping to conclusions misunderstanding i guess. 3/26/2007 10:14:29 AM |

I'm here and still alive. Apparently, someone on the highway called in of a few bikers racing a red car. The trooper went after me and I pulled over. He was pissed and he pretty much had his hand drawn on his weapon the whole time he approached me. He said he could have thrown me in jail for reckless driving, running with no headlight at night, improper use of vehicle, and some other shit. I just explained to him that I wrecked the bike earlier that day and was trailing the red car for wind protection. He cited me with just following a car to closely and being prudent...
While he was there, I also took a few pics with flash and that also pissed him off... :p but I got some cool pics. I also made him wait there an extra 15 mins because I worked on my bike, adjust the chain, lube it up, bleed the brakes a bit. And he had the nerve to ask me "is that thing safe?" haha I'm thinking, I don't give a fuck right now, I just want to get home anyway possible.
After I got on, I almost had a few truckers sideswipe me near chapel hill area. Damn scary shit. After I pasted chapel hill, the whole highway cleared up really fast. Not a good thing when you have no fucking headlights. I prolly was going 45 the rest of the way home. And taking off-ramps at night is prolly the scariest shit I've ever done. Couldn't see shit. And then I got pulled again by a cary cop on us-1. I showed him my previous ticket and he let me off with a warning. He also said I was nuts.
Fuckin A. This trip has been a bitch and a half. I'm taking work and school off today and tomorrow just to get my balance back. 3/26/2007 11:16:17 AM |

BTW, thx Johanna for reminding me about the back protector at cycle gear. Pretty sure that paid in full yesterday.
I was lucky enough to wreck at the right spot. Any later and I would have hit some trees, any sooner and I would have hit the rocky wall. Thank god for dirt. I was just glad after that wreck that I didn't crack another engine block, but I have the extra one good one at home...

need to get ahold of that photographer at the curve that I wrecked at. He said he got some good pics of me before I wrecked...
I still don't know why my front tire slipped out under me at the exit of the curve. I was looking ahead at the next curve too. Then all of a sudden I feel the bike slip and goes sideways. Thinking the whole time, please please, don't break the engine.

I left the cell phone in the pack and went straight to bed in full leathers. thats how dead tired i was.
