^i agree with that article. There is definitely a dropoff after Manning/Barnes. Those are the only 2 REAL top 100 guys in the state. After that you have your Blanton/Mattes/Charest/Adams guys.....and then you have your Maddox/Whitley etc guys. 7/1/2007 9:37:10 PM |

NC State football's 2008 recruiting class is currently ranked #20 in the country per Scout.com!!!
http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=14&yr=2008
And if LB Terrell Manning commits by the end of July, then it should go up in the future...

^^it really is amazing to me those schools at the top that have 18, 19, 20 fucking commits already(all being 3*'s or greaters as well)........i mean, those fans must be in heaven. We have 5 3*'s and a 4* and we're pumped as fuck 7/2/2007 10:21:28 PM |

I think we're mostly excited due to the fact that we're getting good recruits as we have in the past, but now we have a coach who can actually.... coach! That and I'm excited about where I think the program is headed in the future. If we start winning ball games, we'll be just like those other teams you're talking about.
OH YEAH!

What sent people over the edge was that the Virginia guy, Bob Lichtenfels or w/e, came out with his VA rankings today and had Mike Glennon #17 in VA...............the 17th best player...lol. So a bunch of guys from PackPride went to the national message board and started raising hell.......so now Mike Glennon is the #5 player in VA and he will most likely be 4* very very soon 7/3/2007 3:56:11 PM |

Scouts State rankings came out today. NC State has 4 of the top 20 committed and 5 of the top 25 in NC. We also have the #1 player in the state committed and if we can get Terrell Manning, we would have the top 2.
Here is where our Commits come in ranked in the state:
1. Brandon Barnes 12. Duane Maddox 15. Tobias Palmer 20. Mario Carter 25. TJ Graham 35. Earl Wolff 7/4/2007 11:09:05 AM |

just read a free article on p.p. talking about glennon and barnes being invited to the ESPNU all-american game. barnes had some solid comments about glennon, which is always a good thing. makes me really excited to see what these guys will bring to the table:
Quote : | "Barnes is looking forward to playing with Glennon and possibly some other future teammates.
"I just watched Glennon's highlight tape today, and he looked real good," said Barnes. "He's tall, and he can really pass... he impressed me.
"I think it's a great thing. We're trying to start a new thing at State, and it would be great to play against some of the best players in the country. We'll have a chance to show our true colors. I just can't wait." " |

So PackPride has something up about Deion Walker(5-Star WR), any real material there or he just saying we're on his list of schools he's considering?
I know Glennon is supposedly recruiting him hard, but he's also apparently friends with E.J. Manuel(5-Star QB committed to FSU) and he's recruiting him hard. Hopefully our staff, Glennon, and Barnes can get in his ear and get him leaning this way. Then those 3 can start reeling in some big name OL.
Also there is an article about 4-Star ATH Brandon Smith from NJ, any news there as well? 7/9/2007 4:53:38 PM |

said he has a good relationship with MG and that he wished everything revolved around football at NCSU (said this was a downside)... not very promising IMO.
we are in the top 5 for Smith, but he really likes Michigan. 7/9/2007 6:06:34 PM |

the Deion Walker story didn't seem that good at all
Brandon Smith looks like it will be a battle and he said he would announce at the All-American Game (if he makes it) or signing day. So atleast we might have an interesting signing day for the first time in a while though 7/9/2007 6:15:49 PM |

Well everything revolves around football and basketball here. We try to split the time equally, even though our basketball program has more history. If we only cared about basketball, then why would we have even spent a quarter-of-a-billion dollars on improvements to the stadium. Obviously we want to be competitive in football too. At the end of the basketball season, State fans start counting down to when they can tailgate and watch the Pack play in Carter-Finley again. At the end of the basketball season, Carolina fans start counting down to midnight madness.

We need Deion to hold off committing anywhere until he can come to one of our games. I think coming in the Spring he probably saw that we are big about basketball as opposed to some of the other schools he probably saw.
Let him come to one home game and I think our fan support will really shock him. Maybe Tom can show him a video from last year's game against BC and he can see how pumped and crazy the crowd was.
And Brandon Smith seems to be interested in us, and I think since we really aren't recruiting any big names at the S position it will help us with him. 7/9/2007 6:24:22 PM |

i didn't bother looking at their class, but that's not surprising. ucla saved me a decent chunk of money last year by beating usc. i bet someone at the beginning of the season that the NC game wouldn't be usc/ohio state. it was a very close one.

eh, I never look at team rankings until at least December, a lot of the top 150 guys don't commit until the regular season is over anyway, and they pretty much make and break classes. If you look at FSU, they are always out of the top 20 and then the last 2 weeks of January and of course the first week of Feb rolls around and they clean up and end up with a top ten class and all but two weeks of the year are outside the top 20.

I remember this game well because ironically enough, I put some money on the over, needless to say, it was the one game where USC's offense didn't show up, socre of 13-9 rings a bell.7/9/2007 7:01:09 PM |
