^ The Dogfaced Gremlin was Rick, not Scott.

Interestingly enough, though, since Scott couldn't wrestle at Slammiversary, Rick got Animal to be his partner.

New info from Wrestling Observer:

Quote :
"X: Chris Benoit’s personal physician met with him the day of the murder, according to an Associated Press report. Dr. Phil Astin also said he prescribed testosterone to Benoit because of a low count being produced by his body. Astin said that condition likely stemmed from previous steroid use. Here is the link: http://www.accessnorthga.com/news/ap_newfullstory.asp?ID=94290

X: There are other details soon to surface nationally about the murder/suicide that include details about Nancy Benoit spoke with Astin the day before her murder to try and gain information about treating her son Daniel. WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt told me the promotion has information stating Daniel was suffering from Fragile X, which is an inherited mental impairment that causes autistic-like symptoms [more information about the disease can be found at FragileX.org]. McDevitt said it’s believed that Nancy Benoit was struggling trying to cope with Daniel and that neck surgery she had undergone wasn’t make the situation any easier for her and Chris.

One question that can be posed is this: If Chris Benoit killed his wife in a fit of rage stemming from a confrontation about Daniel, did he later kill his son because of concerns about who would take care of a needs child while he was in prison? While this doesn’t make Benoit’s actions any more justifiable, the scenario may shed some light on why Chris Benoit killed his son before taking his own life.

wtf man

there is a difference between pain killers and steroids.

of all the people in the NFL to pick? Favre? Are you fucking kidding me?

he's saying you wouldn't expect someone of Brett Favre's character to murder his wife and children and then commit suicide

^^^ Favre isn't a guy who is respected and admired by everyone in football? That's the point of the comparison.

I think most people would consider someone on steroids who has had a history of marital problems at higher risk for this type of outburst than someone who just happens to be famous.

^^ are you really that dense? AS FAR AS THE WRESTLING COMMUNITY IS CONCERNED, BENOIT WAS A PROFESSIONAL AND STAND UP GUY.....WHICH IS A SEPARATE ENTITY FROM HIS PERSONAL LIFE. this is comparable to someone like brett favre in the nfl. holy shit

and newsflash, just about every wrestler is on steroids

its hard to seperate personal life from it when

A) he married his wife through wrestling
B) As you said yourself, " just about every wrestler is on steroids"

is my point.

Every football and baseball player was on steroids too at one time, it's just fans looked the other way cause they'd rather their team win with roided players than lose with clean players, and if you don't believe that you're a damn fool. Bud Selig pretty much encouraged it in his sport. Selig is no better than McMahon in my eyes. At least McMahon looks in the mirror and realizes he's a scumbug. Selig's moronic enough to think he did nothing wrong.

For anyone interested, this is a good Ring of Honor match: http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/roh/video/xl7re_roh-lance-storm-vs-american-dragon

Favre is a terrible comparison. A better comparison would be someone like Ray Lewis who everyone in the NFL seems to like and respect, whose personal life no one knows about, but every so often there's a little blip on the radar that goes: "Hey, he might kill some people at some point".

Favre is an exceedingly public figure, whose always been pretty upfront with what issues he's had. They're really nothing at all alike except for the fact that they're respected.

Yeah, and it's a dumb point and a dumb comparison. Next thing you know someone is going to come in and start talking about Tim Duncan because he's well respected to. Actually Duncan would be a far better comparison than Favre, because no one knows anything about him off the court.

Benoit was a guy who wrestled for a living, did steroids, and had been accused of spousal abuse in the past. Is it absolutely mind-blowing that a combination of these three things could come to a head and leave people dead? No, not really. People are only shocked because they thought they knew him.

seriously, kids, vinylbandit wasn't trying to start some sort of huge debate about the appropriateness of Favre's personal life in this comparison, just trying to say that it'd be an equally big shock if you were a football fan and a seemingly well-mannered and professional player murdered his family and then shot himself

and while you guys saying "oh I'm so not surprised" because of steriods/his kid/his wife IS INDEED AN AMAZING FEAT OF 20/20 HINDSIGHT, he was just trying to say that if you watched wrestling and respected him as a professional wrestler (much like you'd respect Brett Favre as a quarterback in a similar fashion), then you'd be shocked too

maybe you're all sucking on Favre's cock a little too much to want associate him with a murderer, but that wasn't the intention of the comparison in the first place: the comparison was about his professionalism and the respect he got in his sport

plz 2 everyone chill the fuck out

i honestly think he killed his son out of pity

he killed his wife first, probably in a fit of roid rage over an arguement

sat around and thought about it

since the son is mentally retarded he probably thought he would be burndening someone with him and since he had the disability he wouldnt live (this is murky ground) but that he would live that great of a life

Beniot probably killed him out of pity and mercy, wrongfully either way

then he offed himself

after thinking about it a long while, that my conclusion

in these situations they typically go with the "thought his family would be better off in heaven" approach...

Since we're all about speculating, here's mine.

Chris Benoit, a shorter (not short, but in the wrestling world short by comparison) man who compensated for it by building his physique to the breaking point (his skin looked shrink wrapped on him, if his muscles had gotten any bigger i swear his skin would have popped) has a son who will be small his whole life, and won't be able to build muscle to compensate for it.

I suppose I'm making an attempt to get into his head, but for someone with a probably history of violence, steroid use (possibly abuse), and is under a very large amount of stress in general I can see him just, breaking.

He bound his wife (she had been in wrestling before, and possibly could have defended herself against him, although I don't think she ever was a wrestler she'd spent enough time around them) and strangled her (from behind, from what I hear, i suppose this way he couldn't see her face). And then suffocated his son using a wrestling hold, also from behind. His son who could never be what Benoit really wanted, and in Benoit's mind wouldn't be able to live a full life due to his size and autism.

He then proceeded to leave bibles next to them, indicating that he was possibly praying over their bodies, or trying to make a point about them getting into Heaven.

And he then killed himself in the same way in which he killed his wife and son, asphyxiation. Either for grief, fear of prison, or a possible belief that since he would have enough time to ask forgiveness for his sins while he was hanging that perhaps it would be a loophole that would allow him to join his family in Heaven.

[/speculation]

and now Vinnie Mac comes out to thoroughly vilify Benoit (not that it's hard, i mean, shit, he killed his wife and son)...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19474972/

I know what he's thinking, he wants to distance the product as far from Benoit as possible, but honestly I wish he'd just keep his mouth shut, admit that the tribute was premature, and be done with it
