haha. up until 10pm tonight, that was the only good thing we had accomplished. let us have our joy. But for fucks sake, quit yelling at the top of your lungs when we're on offense.

i don't see why burning the redshirt is such a big deal... he needs some reps in case brown or eugene go down... it is always a good idea to have 3 able RBs

just teach him to go down and not fight for extra yardage when the game is over. He ruined our turnoverless streak.

There's no way a 3rd-string player gives up like that in garbage time.

It's their opportunity to show off to the coaches.

Underwood can redshirt next year maybe if all 3 come back healthy.

The_Grinder is MacGyver's new alias. Ignore him, just a troll.

We should have let Burke air it out some just to let him get a feel for the game. We probably won't win easy like that the rest of the year.

I love a win.

That being said...we played Wofford tonight. We beat them, but they nearly equaled us in rushing and BEAT US IN PASSING AND NET YARDS. We won the game, but we played WOFFORD. Watching the game in person, it seemed like Wofford rushed damn near every play and that they never threw a pass longer than 10 yards. Defensively, we did considerably well dealing with the option, over, and over, and over again. Bring it, Wake Forest.

Our offense ran the ball a whole lot better than I've seen, which is encouraging, but I'm still not convinced. Our passing attack was more of a management, set-up-the-run, situation which was a little disappointing considering who we were playing and what we've seen from our receivers/quarterback.

Synopsis: We shoulda won this game. We did win this game. NC State is in trouble this season, but I don't doubt that TOB can produce a quality, winning team down the road.

It was nice being at an NC State win. What the fuck was wrong with the crowd??? We finally get a W, and everyone dips out at halftime. Shit got fun in the 2nd half. My friends and I just hazed the wofford players, staff, and fans. Making fun of all of their option plays, team name, mascot, etc. it was funny.

As for the game itself, it was nice seeing our guys get their shit done.
Our Defense gets a A-. Nice turnovers and big stops in 3rd and 4 downs. BUT, they did fuck up on the deep TD pass and a few runs.

Out Offense gets a B. Running game was decent, but the o-line still needs work. Beck did a good job avoiding costly mistakes, but never had his big throws. They were lucky to have good field possition, but it is a little sad that Wofford had more total yards in the end.

The coaching staff gets an A. No dumb penalties, the boys played a complete game, and no stupid play calls. They coached a smart game, and had us ready to play big tonight.

The crowd gets a C-. We did get loud a couple of times, but wtf is wrong with people t\who yell and cheer while we have the ball?? Unless it's a big play, 1st down, or TD... shut it and let our guys focus. Also, the mass exodus by the 4th quarter was embarassing. The wave was nice... one of the best i've ever seen in person.

^I didn't even watch the game today.

But I feel like we had to have had less penalties than years before. Unless players were actively trying to have more...and that's straight up bad.

So did anyone manage to capture/download this game from ESPN360, assuming they had access? Id really like to see it. PackPass version would be acceptable too, but ESPN360 version would be preferred.

The defensive coordinator gets a D-.

They ran the SAME Wishbone, strongside option at least 20 times just in the first half.

We ran 3-4 cover, or 3-4 with man on for the corners. Why the FUCK didn't we either move to a 4-3 for contain, or have the corner's roll off the strong side for contain and have the safety pick up?

It was infuriating watching it EVERY time, KNOWING they would pull 5-7 yards on the option. It's a huge gap in our defense that we can't move out of the 3-4 cover and better teams are going to exploit this terribly.

As for the total yards argument, they went to garbage time early. So you can throw this number completely out the window. We are likely never going to have the total offense advantage in games. Our team (and Tom O'Briens offense) is a ground and pound offense. We *should* have 150-200 yards rushing a game and 100-150 in the air. And our defense is going to continue to have to be lights out.

I saw Blackman over at College Inn after the game, and he was limping pretty bad. He said it happened on that shot he took when Wofford did the on-side kick. I don't if it was something serious, or if it was just really sore though.

I'm surprised he didn't break his damn neck when beck hung him out to dry and blackman did a flip before landing on his head.

And if anyone can tell me of an easy way to pull a flash video from a website, I'll see if I can get the game.

I was impressed with our running game but our passing game was marginal. As far as defense goes I saw several sloppy passes that our secondary should have converted into interceptions.

I thought we def played better then we did previous games but still need work. What yesterday blow out occurred from was not our outstanding offense but Wofford shooting themselves in the foot w/ all the turnovers. I mean the punt returner fucked up the catch TWICE to give us the ball on our 11 yd line and on the 1/2 yard line. But kudos that we were able to convert unlike the BC and CFU game where we'd throw a interception like 50% of the time when we got into the red zone

It's not the defensive player's fault. They did as well as you can stacking a 3-4 cover against the option pitch. I was REALLY suprised they didn't break any huge runs and run up the score with the option.

Ideally, the 4th linebacker instead of the 4th lineman gives you better speed and athleticsm to better cover the option. This allows 2 (hopefully fast) linebackers to key on option roles.
With the 4th lineman, DE has to key QB, outside LB key pitch man and CB keep contain. Can sometimes make trouble if your end can't get off a block to hit the QB in the mouth. I would rather see a 4-4 defense to be honest...

I hope our stadium doesn't empty out like that in the 2nd half for any of our acc games. Stick around the whole time through the fight song. seriously people. Oh and the wave was awesome. section 14 and 15 is weak but we are the regulars up there now so we are working on it.

and I know this has been said before, but shut the fuck up while we're on offense. You people who were yelling on the 4th and goal are idiots. We go over this every year but yesterday was fucking wofford and we were louder on offense than we were on defense. just shut the fuck up when we have the ball. /angry rant.

Sorry I must have been drunk or something, I mean't to say 4-3, not 3-4.

We SHOULD be running a 3-4. Our DT's are obviously not fast enough to keep contain, and I don't know that we even have any true DE's (someone feel free to correct me here).

I think I would cry tears of joy to see us switch up to the 3-4 or an occasional 5-2 for outside contain. I mean, how many other teams actually still run a 4-3?? I think there's like two left in the NFL and then only because they have insanely good DL's.

yea I know it's ToB's scheme, I'd just heard we dont have the personnel to run it right now. But shit, id rather take my chances with another mediocre LB than the current mediocre outside tackles.

Also, don't be douchebags. The wave is not going to throw off the calls on offense. The stadium is never quiet, and players are used to crowd noise. We have gotten massively better about noise on offense, I don't see it as a problem anymore, and expecting the stadium to go pin-drop quiet is just being anal.

None of our D-linemen are suited to a 3-4 and we don't have nearly enough depth at LB to run it.

Well they were wrong. We were tied for third on that list. Duke was #1 with something like 21 straight losses. Doesn't really matter for either team now.

gg Pack. Still concerned about penalties though.
