the pens needed defense, and their big get was. . . hal gill?

i feel that they gave up too much as well, but christensen is nearly useless except for on the SO, armstrong had fallen off since last year, and the others are unproven but are still 2 1st rounders.

i feel confident that shero's strategy is to win games 8-6 instead of 7-6.

^ They had probably done the Huet deal in principle before they knew the full asking price for Hossa, then got stuck.

SEDIN TWINS v. THE HIVES WITH THE SEDIN TWINS WINNING 6-5

http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/49007-hives-challenge-vancouver-canucks-to-hockey-game

Quote :
"We know damn well that Sweden's Hives rule the live stage, but what about the ice rink? Determined to find out, the photogenic fivesome journeyed late last week from one frozen northerly land to another, Canada (where, okay, they also happened to be touring), to put a hockey challenge before three Swedish members of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks.

The February 22 afternoon contest at General Motors Place went down just prior to the Hives' gig that evening at the Commodore Ballroom, and was organized (and documented) by record-making liaisons Canadian Recording Services.

Somehow, amid the clattering of sticks, the swooshing of air, and the slicing of ice skates, the Hives managed to put up five against the highly-trained Canucks. But, alas, it would not be enough, as the professionals-- though outnumbered-- emerged with a 6-5 victory over their garage-rocking opponents.

It has been said that this victory gave the Canucks the mental boost they needed to prevail over the Detroit Red Wings the following night, and who are we to doubt it? Hopefully they got some free Hives tickets out of the deal too."

I tried responding after the game but got pwned by Flood Control.

(Yes, yes, much like the Devils got "pwned" by your Rags )

Was that their last meeting? I sure as hell hope so because if not you are going to run me into the poor house paying my end of the deal.

EDIT:

Also, these 1st round playoff matchups in the East would be epic IMO:

Montreal/Boston
Pittsburgh/Philadelphia
Carolina/Ottawa
New Jersey/NY Rangers

3 inter-divisional series
2 regional rivals
Corvo/Eaves/Commodore/Stillman homecoming

Quote :
"NEW YORK -- Fueled by unprecedented League-wide competition for playoff spots and positions, the NHL is on pace to obliterate its March attendance records. A per-game average of 17,900 fans -- 97% of capacity -- has filled NHL arenas this month. The existing March record average of 17,331 was set last season.

The late-season surge has ensured another season of record NHL attendance. The 2007-08 per-game average of 17,194 is running 1.7% ahead of the 2006-07 campaign, which concluded with a record figure of 16,961. The NHL will surpass 20 million in total attendance for the seventh consecutive season and will, for the first time in its 90-season history, conclude the regular season with a per-game average in excess of 17,000."
