Anybody see Michael McDowell's wreck in qualifying today? I was standing on the Spotter's stand, and I could hear the boom from there...that had to be one of the hardest hits I have ever seen. You could hear a pin drop at Texas Motor Speedway until he climbed out.

^ Yeah. It's a classic rookie mistake. (spinning in a corner and overcorrecting and you nail the outer wall at a 90-degree angle).

He needs to go spend more time in the Trucks or the Nationwide Series before racing in the big series again. It's one of those mistakes new drivers make that shows they're not ready. I remember when Jason Priestley made that mistake in an open-wheel car. He retired from oval racing on the spot after waking up.

I can't find anything online about it but I think an article in the news last Monday indicated they might be interested in getting rid of him for 'making bad decisions' thus...costing Jr. races...

^ Junior was stupid for bringing him over from DEI to start with.

Well firstly, he in fact kind of looks like a tard, but more importantly, he might very well be making decisions costly to Jr's outcome.

HOWEVER

I'm sick of Jr's complete sessions of bitch moves that seem to throw blame on everybody else as to why he can't win races but himself.

Now, he's got the poll this week, so maybe we can see something on Sunday. But my guess is don't get your hopes up...

He's posting top 5's and leading the Hendrick drivers, it's only a matter of time. I don't get the sense of urgency. Who would he get that would be doing any better at this point in the season?

Holy shit.

They're right about how much that says about the HANS device, COT, and the SAFER barrier. I'm no expert but that looks way worse than Earnhardt's wreck but at a similar angle. Check it out for comparison.

does anyone else have a sense of nostalgia for North Wilkesboro? I would love to see it bought from those assholes that own it now and turned into a bristol like track, completely enclosed while keeping the track layout the same, and hold a night race there once a year in the cup series. I think it would work, just putting up the money to do that kind of repair would be the big obstacle.

Sounds great but you'll never get them to drop a Cup race from an existing track to a small venue. Although they might make more money on it than they would at that God-forsaken shithole California.

It was pretty entertaining watching them trying to load the 00 car into a hauler Sunday morning. They loaded it into a 4 car hauler with a fork lift and a skid steer.

I wouldn't have let go of Scott Riggs for Carpentier

I don't know exactly how it happened, but if it was a firing decision, it looks to be a bad one...
