I don't know why you guys are being such bitches about Clemson.
Chapel Hill almost always wins the close games. The refs make sure of it.
Taking it to double overtime with all that nonsense going against you is pretty fucking awesome.
And it's not like Clemson sucked. They weren't down 43-13 at the half. 2/11/2008 5:53:19 AM |

Bear with me here...
If Clemson shot the same percentage from the line and only got half the attempts that UNC got there would also be no overtime.2/11/2008 8:22:25 AM |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that with 5 minutes to go in the regular session, the freethrow situation was UNC:21, Clemson:3 2/11/2008 9:18:57 AM |

a buddy of mine said that at the end of the game, when the coaches shook hands, woody durham was in the background laughing, holding up a sign that had "53" on it. i didnt see it, but i was curious to know if anyone else did? 2/11/2008 10:09:03 AM |

but that is something out of their control... what I mentioned was in their control, something they could have done2/11/2008 2:36:55 PM |

you know usually, when one team is ahead all game (clemson) and another team is behind all game (UNC), generally the team thats behind is forced to commit more fouls] 2/11/2008 2:41:33 PM |

Clemson took way more threes, and plays a physical style of defense... so it is understandable why they don't shoot many FTs.
Shit, they ought to be glad they didn't have to shoot more of them. 2/11/2008 3:29:18 PM |

^And I thought they were fouled on a couple of those threes. And Carolina played aggressive defense, as well...

But that's sort of an unfair statistic that penalizes UNC-CH for making their free throws.
I think a better stat is the number of times they got a call that sent them to the line. And that's 4 for Clemson in regulation and the first OT and 14 for Chapel Hill.
Anyone else notice that the student fans at Chapel Hill are looking more and more like the dorks at Duke?

^^^Yeah, you're right. That statistic is better.
I'm just saying that you have to acknowledge that a small part of Carolina's large number of free throws compared to Clemson is that they actually made the front ends of their 1 and 1s.
^^It shouldn't.
