totally.

and it helps that, having spent many of my formative years being forced to participate in Community Theater, I have picked up quite an eye for good theater satire. They nailed it!

i think brittany daniel's (carmen the tranny) first introduction to the show was charlie has cancer

and then in mac is a serial killer in season 3 she was part of the plot

ah, there will be an empty spot in my soul for the next 8-10 months, thank god for dvd's and dvr

also, on this ep, i think it is funny how danny devito sometimes is obviously not even trying, you wonder if that was one of the days he got too drunk. the example in this ep is when they are doing the finale and all 4 are supposed to be singing and dancing and devito is barely trying to keep up with the dance and at best just mouthing the singing. and in a previous ep, with his doowop gang when they all started to sing and he doesnt even bother to move his lips. kinda funny.

also, charlie is one of my fav characters in any tv show ever, but this season made one tiny little chink in his armor. in the "day in my shoes" ep when he went up on stage at the comedy club, i assume eh was trying to dry heave (as Dee did so amazingly/discustingly well) and it ended up being more like a cough/spit/nervous tic shout.

I noticed that in this episode, and I chalked it up completely to Frank's attitude, not to Danny DiVito's.

I guess it's just me judging from everybody's comments on here, but...

This season was definitely a letdown from the previous ones. The show is still funny but considerably less funny than it was to me in earlier seasons. I thought the finale was pretty weak actually... the only really funny parts to me where the troll toll song and when Dennis asked Mac if he had a boner.

i mostly agree aimorris

i actually deleted a couple eps from this season off my dvr because they just werent rewatchable

i did like the finale but i hated it too...in this sense: they definitely spent a lot of the episode pandering to the fans who came on board during season 3 and who absolutely locked on to the dayman/night man plotline/theme, and as someone who really appreciated season 1 and the other eps on season 3 (the gang gets whacked is still one of my top 3), i felt pandered to in a really ingenuine way

ive never really had a show where i felt like i had a personal relationship with the characters like i do with sunny, not in a creepy way, but you just feel so involved in their craziness during season 1, 2, and 3...but i did like in the finale this season how they kind of drew you in with the charlie/waitress thing...it reminded me of kind of a parody of a jim/pam or some other type love interest cliff hanger/plot draw out from another show, but done sunny style

i would give the finale a 7...it was funny but i just didn't like that it felt like they were purposefully aiming the dayman/night man stuff at that crowd that came late...kind of like when they brought green man back. green man was classic in the gang gets invincible, but it was cheapened by how they utilized it this time around

yeah I agree with all that

it's just if I was ranking my top 10 favorite episodes, I'm not sure if any in this season would make it... maybe the gas crisis one, but that's probably it

i just looked back on wikipedia

i found the following eps this season rewatchable:

Quote :
"
2 The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis
4 Mac's Banging the Waitress
5 Mac and Charlie Die: Part One
6 Mac and Charlie Die: Part Two"

I think I remember Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack as funny, but the fact that I can't really remember enough to know says it probably was but not rewatchable funny

also, does it piss anyone else off that they had part two of the gang gets whacked on the second DVD for season 3? like, really? you couldnt shift around some content or something to make that fit on one disc? come on

are you guys serious??

the model contest, liberty bell and the worst bar in philly were the only meh ones this season, the rest were great. also, those were no worse than the gang gets held hostage (other than the charlie subplot) or frank sets sweet dee on fire

so no Erotic Life? Charlie and Dee living in each other's shoes was great.

no pooped the bed? wolf hair and a piece of a credit card isnt conclusive, plus the waitress being drunk and dee trying to steal the small shoes.

no manhunter? if we dont eat the black guy, is that racist? gorillamask? died balls teabag?

in sweet dee has a heart attack, charlie in the mailroom alone makes the episode

extreme makeover, i mean, that final shot was perfect

as for nightman, this def isnt even close to the first time where they have had recuring plots/characters. just b/c they didnt introduce this til 3 means they cant use it again?

maybe some of the best of this season cant compete with some of the best of last season, but overall it has been a good season

yea i liked it more than some of my friends, but it wasnt superb. my fav part was charlie spitting on cricket

i'm not a huge mac fan and with the wooden teeth thing, i kept tyring to figure out if he was doing paul giamatti doing john adams

cant find a great example, but check

at about the 36 sec (we are in the midst of revolution) and 46 (liberty will reign in america) to get the general idea

I'd put The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis as easily the funniest episode this season. It's hard to pick out a single moment in that episode which did not make me laugh hard the first time I saw it. Also it didn't try to bring in any shitty forced characters like Artemis.

I'd put Who Pooped the Bed as by far the worst. I've got no problem with poop humor, but I do have a problem with the inclusion of a completely unfunny sideplot (Dee and friends), and Artemis just does not belong on the show at all. I didn't even crack a smile when she was talking, but I probably would have laughed a lot at her mystery exposition at the end if it had only been a better character delivering it. Like Mac or someone.

i agree that artemis is worthless as a character, but the rest of that ep was gold

dee and the waitress were great in those interactions

artemis is great, usually. she's the eccentric character when the episode calls for it and she's sells it really well. the scene at the end of 'who pooped the bed' was amazing.

this season is definitely the worst of them all but it is still pretty solid.

good episodes
The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis
America's Next Top Paddy's Billboard Model Contest
Mac's Banging the Waitress
Who Pooped the Bed?
Mac & Dennis: Manhunters
Sweet Dee Has A Heart Attack

not as good
Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life
The Nightman Cometh
The Gang Cracks The Liberty Bell
The Gang Gets Extreme: Home Makeover Edition
Mac & Charlie Die
Paddy's Pub: The Worst Bar in Philadelphia

I forgot all about the "Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life"... The Rob Thomas and Sinbad bits in that were hillarious....

my favorite part this whole season was in "Who Pooped the Bed?" when Dee gives the lady her credit card in the shoe store and runs head first into the parked car.

^, ^^ From what Ive read, I dont think they had a choice

The high ups said they needed a big name and Devito loved the show so it was a win-win for both of them.

i was thinking about this today, and Mac $ Charlie Die does not belong on this list, IMO. I mean this is the ep with "ooooooorrrrggggieeee" and one another great moment from Dee on the bus. also, charlie and mac planning how to kill themselves and trying to live homeless was great. and of course, the key moment:
"did i see you ahve sex with the puppet??"

^^ I was just saying that's how it felt to me... wasn't calling you out as a bandwagon fan of the show or whatever

I just feel like the show has gotten away from a group of guys doing stupid things... now it's something stupid and ridiculously outrageous like every other show. I always thought there was no way this show could jump the shark because it was so out there from the beginning but now I'm starting to think otherwise. Again, I still think the show is funny but it's just my opinion that it's on a decline, not a sharp one or anything, but it's definitely not as funny to me as the first 2 seasons
