^ yes.
Also, any help on my question from above?
Quote : | "Just downloaded FF4 and I like everything except the new "awesome bar." I used to be able to type a key word(s) in the bar and it would take me directly to the site (tww, espn, amazon, etc). Now it just pops what I typed into a google search and takes me there. Anyone else notice this or know of a way to change it?" |

For anyone using the Mac version, they took out the pinch to zoom but you can fix it:
Quote : | "To get back pinch in and out gestures for zooming, just type about:config in your address bar, promise Firefox you'll be careful, then type pinch in the search bar that comes up. Change the following values to match:
browser.gesture.pinch.in cmd_fullZoomReduce browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift cmd_fullZoomReset browser.gesture.pinch.out cmd_fullZoomEnlarge browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift cmd_fullZoomReset" |
Also you can use the twist function to change tabs:
Quote : | "browser.gesture.twist.left BrowserrevTab browser.gesture.twist.right Browser:NextTab" |
via lifehacker
Also found out how to get the old awesome bar back
Quote : | " Enter about:config in your address bar. Find keyword.enabled, either by scrolling down or by typing into the Filter: box. If Value is set to true, do nothing. If it is set to false, double click it to change it to true. Then, find keyword.URL. Double click it to modify the value, and enter http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q= into the box " |

^ I tried to use that but it doesn't play nicely with parallels (which I use a lot), and it really didn't do that much extra for me. Diminishing returns, too much work for such a little improvement. 3/24/2011 3:32:04 PM |

feels faster to me and now all of my add-ons are compatible
still don't like that it interferes with my dock, though that's only an issue on my laptop 3/25/2011 8:09:43 AM |

I'm thinking about going back to 3.6. I can't detect any noticeable speed improvements and I'm pretty sure there's a memory leak going on or something. After a few hours of use I start getting the little spinning wheel for 5-10 seconds about once every 30 seconds. This never happened one time on 3.6. Restarting the computer fixes the issue for a while. Had to reboot twice today. Never had to reboot at all before I installed FF 4.0. Not for daily use anyway.

Don't like this 4.0.
Slow then cashes. Going back to 3.6 for a while until this blows over. 3/28/2011 5:10:30 PM |

On this same note, I took the plunge into FF mobile RC and simply cannot learn to love it. The default Android browser in 2.3.3 is so sexy and fast I find myself loathing FF Mobile.
When I doubletap to zoom in the android browser, it reads my mind and knows exactly how to zoom in on forums (TWW included) and just outputs/wraps the content brilliantly.
FF Sync sucks. 3/28/2011 7:19:20 PM |

Updated me to 4.0.1
Seems like it took away the information bar at the bottom of the screen, which is where most of my important add-ons are. I can't figure out where to reactivate it.
It also seemingly broke No-Script so that I can't allow specific scripts 5/10/2011 10:41:18 AM |

You can enable a plugin bar which sits at the bottom. It's smaller than the status bar was. I forget how to do it and i'm on FF3.6 on this machine. Probably in the View menu.6/22/2011 7:02:04 AM |

Getting rid of the version number in the Help > About Firefox window.
Quote : | "This was no mere trolling or attempt to start a discussion: the request was made by Asa Dotzler, Firefox's Product lead, and he says he filed the bug at the suggestion of Firefox's usability lead, Alex Limi. The desire to get rid of the version number is coming from the top." |
I know that having that one extra line that indicates the version number makes that window near unusable for me, so I'm glad they are finally getting rid of this industry wide standard.
Quote : | "Version information would still be visible, but only through the little-known "about:support" page." |
Oh, I see it's still available. They just decided it would be more usable to remove it from the one place everyone expects it to be. A minor thing to be sure, but it works both ways. Why even bother with such a small thing that is an expected standard. Isn't consistency one of the most basic principles of human computer interface design. Meh.
