She's a fundamentalist wingnut from what people have said. She comes from a big oil state and can help beat the drums of McBush's recent flip-flop that pushes for more offshore drilling. She's a hot mom that can easily win the sympathy vote if Biden takes her to task like he could have with Hucklebuck or Willard. McBush seems to think that the male chauvinists in his party will vote for him no matter what.

The fact of the matter is, Palin's nuts are way bigger than yours, 5 kids or no. She's more manly than most of you panty waisted pansy liberals, maybe it's making you question your manhood, seeing such a fine babe who does more manly things than you could ever imagine.

its a total kick in the face move to Hillary and the Democratic party

35 years of experience or whatever

years of campaigning and millions of dollars down the drain (not to mention the millions she's in debt)

all for nothing, no nomination, not even on the ticket

then out of nowhere, this Palin chick pops up--no wasted time campaigning, little experience, no money lost over the last 2 years

If this works and John McCain wins, Hillary will never recover

it's genius

So you like your women to be manly? That's kind of telling... maybe you and Larry Craig have more in common than you think.

actually, both of these were objective real criteria AND indicators that I felt held more weight than your suppositions on the state of the racing being a dead heat. I didn't 'make up' the evidence you simp, I simply pointed it out.

i dont underestimate that at all, but that's already taken account of in the models and state by state polling. It's one thing to run off a gallup national poll, quite another to run a picture of the race using ggregate trends state to state where it really matters.

Fact is, we elect presidents using an electoral college. So, all that matters are pivoting states like MI, PA, OH, FL, NV, CO, VA, NM, MT, and maybe even ND and NC. Of those, Obama is favored in enough to give him the inside edge to 270 electoral votes giving him the win.

Face it, he's going to likely win PA and NM ok? We're all pretty sure of that at this point....so all he has to do is hold MI (he's leading currently and hasn't dropped the lead since the start) and pickup any of the following (VA, OH, CO, NV, ND. NC) and it's ballgame over.

You can do the math yourself but I feel like holding Michigan and flipping one of those 6 states to blue is completely doable and likely. Last checked all of those states were neck and neck. We'll see what happens!

Can't be any worse than what's already in the polls to be honest. Or I can't see any reason for the buck to turn against the dem ticket any more than it already has. The convention was a release point...I mean, if that didn't turn the votes back into the fold nothing would. however, hightly doubtful it would have turned any more hillary voters all of a sudden AWAY.

And FL is going to McCain...I can see that. I'm seeing that it may be close but I think that's just a money trap state. Obama can feasibly win VA or CO for instance very easily. He's afforded this advantage thanks to great stances in WI and IA...

Thanks for the diagnosis doc. Here I thought the reason was because its alot easier to compare her to obama. Silly me, it was a face goiter(which is usually contained to the thyroid, but now spreads to face and brain... amazing discovery) that will make mccain unfit. Here I thought it was how many houses he had. Now we have houses and a brain eating face goiter. My god

Andrew Sullivan re: the secret baby rumors:
Quote :
"If McCain had vetted her, the Internet wouldn't have to. And this would be a private matter if the McCain-Palin campaign hadn't made the baby a key campaign point. Once they made it a reason to vote for someone, it's reasonable for bloggers to ask questions about it, especially when there are so many strange twists to the story. But, look: I hope this isn't true, and it can easily be disproved quickly. I'll immediately post any evidence that answers the questions."

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/08/its-about-the-v.html

That's the thing. To pick a candidate without vetting her whatsoever just shows such poor judgment and such lack of foresight that you have to wonder what else McCain is gonna do.

The daughter is pregnant (or as Obama would put it, "punished with a baby") and will marry the father instead of having an abortion. Can we expect Biden to trumpet the family business in their debate, a la Edwards?

There are dozens and dozens of legitimate reasons to oppose Sarah Palin — everything from her position on drilling to that on polar bears; her flip-flopping on the Bridge to Nowhere; her pro-life advocacy to her opposition to marriage equity. Let's focus on those legitimate reasons as to why people should oppose Sarah Palin and the McCain-Palin ticket rather than trying to be the next Karl Rove because, as Dan Rather might say, when you wrestle with a pig (i.e., shitty rumors like these), all you get is shit on you and the pig kind of likes it."

but, it's gonna be great to laugh at the democrats again when they lose to even this poor excuse for a ticket.

Dude the voters will have their say...this is a whirling storm of shit and it reflects very poorly on McCain's judgment.

I mean think about it and be honest here - it was just like one of those commenters said - the most important decision John McCain has made in this election that would model his presidency was simply a hair trigger decision that was not thought through. He has a history of that and who the shit wants someone like that with his finger on the button? You can get mad all you want but it's the truth.

Obama just hit his highest point EVER in the polls: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html#chart

These are numbers after Palin, but they don't reflect the Repub convention.

Also, here's Obama's take on the whole issue:

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Obama_Peoples_families_are_off_limits_0901.html
Quote :
""Let me be a clear as possible: I have said before and I will repeat again, I think people's families are off limits, and people's children are especially off limits," said Obama. "This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president.

"I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories," Obama continued. "My mother had me when she was 18, and how family deals with issues and teenage children -- that shouldn't be the topic of our politics and I hope that anybody who's supporting me understands that's off limits."

When a journalist followed up by referring to McCain campaign charges that liberal blogs, some even tied to Obama, were behind rumors about Palin, the Illinois senator interjected, "I am offended by that statement. There is no evidence at all that any of this involved us.

"I hope I am as clear as can be, so in case I'm not, let me repeat: We don't go after people's families, we don't get them involved in the politics," Obama continued. "It's not appropriate and it's not relevant.

"Our people were not involved in any way in this and they will not be. And if I ever thought that it was somebody in my campaign that was involved in something like that, they'd be fired," closed Obama before departing."

If I was a McCain supporter, I would spin this by saying Obama is portraying the birth of a child as an "issue" that rebellious "teenage children" have rather than a beautiful gift from GOD, and it's clear he's still bitter that his dad left him because his mom was probably too immature to form a meaningful relationship at the time.

My vote for McCain is seriously wavering now with his choice of Palin. I am appaled by her pro-life family values platform, think she lacks expierence, and find her relationship w/ big oil disturbing. Not to mention the ongoing investigation in the trooper scandal.

I very well may not vote. The potential though is rising for a possible conversion to Obama. I liked McCain for his moderate aisle crossing tactics as a senator. Lately though he has been reminding me of a Bush Jr.; than now he has this Palin woman on his ticket.
