A point is always a good thing to get. But we do need to capitalize on those gifted powerplays, we needed to do something with it and couldn't get anything started then Bayda took the penalty, but hopefully we'll get em in OT and stay with Washington in the standings.

If Ruutu goes down for an extended period of time, Jim Rutherford needs to do something to at least plug the sinking ship due to injuries. Has Ruutu been playing left or right wing? Because if right wing, then that's all three right wings going down before the 5th game of the year (Williams, Walker, Ruutu?). If Ruutu's injury is nagging, we need to either pick someone up who can play his style with Staal as the physical presence opens up space for him.

Also, I still believe Brookbank didn't deserve the one way contract, I have yet to see him really throw a hit or do anything in the first four games. I think it's time for Trevor Gillies to come in. Doughty is an 18 year old kid and he was allowed to run over every player on the 'Canes with no consequence, the Hurricanes need that physical presence since Walker is out and if Brookbank won't supply it, I'm sure someone in Albany or somewhere in the NHL (or at home and not signed) will.

Since it looks like the Rangers don't want Shanahan, maybe be should make a pitch to him now since he might be open to not playing for them since Sather made it seem he is no longer in their plans at all. Though he's old, he would still be an amazing player to have alongside Staal or Brindy. I doubt he'd come to our market though (too small probably), but hell never hurts to ask his agent (if JR hasn't already).
