I've had a Kindle since November. I probably spend more on books with the Kindle than without because I read even more. I don't have to wait between visits to the store. But each individual book is cheaper and some books are free. But I have a serious addiction to books anyway, so it's not like it's money I wouldn't spend otherwise.

theoretically it's forever, but amazon has been known to remotely delete customers' books.
