If we make Motor City Bowl they are saying our likely opponent is Ball State. So does that mean that this is the first place bowl for the MAC. It's hard to believe that their conference has so many tie-ins.

I know this is going to be hard for most of you to get your head around

but the fact of the matter is:

this NC State football team isn't very good

- They have beaten NO ONE that is ranked right now this year

- They are 6-6

- They beat William and Mary by 10 pts.

Have you followed NC State football this season at all? Or are you just some random guy who decided to register on TWW?

You seem completely oblivious to the injury situation. And the quarterback situation during the injury situation. And the concept of improvement over time.

I'm guessing you're just a troll (a bad one at that), and as such, I will now stop feeding you and ignore your posts henceforth.

most of the reason those teams are NOT RANKED RIGHT NOW IS B/C WE BEAT THAT ASS

we have ruined several team's dream season this year.

bowl selection committees look heavily on the "what have you done for me lately" factor

I'm not one of the homers saying our only close competitors are the top 20 ranked teams in the nation.

But saying that this football team isn't good right now based on the first few games of the season is utterly moronic.

I am saying that a 6-6 team has no place in the postseason.

you homers think that we can beat anybody now that we have beaten duke, wake, unc, and miami

enjoy this 4 game winning streak

enjoy playing in a bowl

but this 4 game winning streak means absolutely nothing if we start next year out 2-5 for the 3rd straight season

1. Plenty of 6-6 teams play in the postseason every year, whether you think they deserve it or not.

2. We've been playing good football lately and in the opinion of several people in this tread, could give plenty of teams a good game. That's not saying we would go out and dominate any team in the country.

3. Of course we're going to start next season 2-6, we're NC State for Christ's sake!

Quote :
" N.C. State will be forced to seek an at-large bowl destination outside the ACC's nine bowl slots, said Michael Kelly, ACC associate commissioner for football operations.

The ACC has 10 bowl-eligible teams, and an NCAA guideline requires that the nine slots be filled first by teams with winning records. Kelly said the NCAA reaffirmed that guideline Monday.

N.C. State (6-6) is the only ACC bowl-eligible team without a winning record. Kelly said the Texas, PapaJohns.com, Independence, Motor City and Hawaii bowls might have open slots that could allow them to consider the Wolfpack.

“We're confident we can still find a home,” Kelly said, “but obviously we have to kind of wait and see what plays out this weekend, see what other teams may be in that pool.”

The shortage of bowl-eligible teams in the SEC, Big 12 and Pac-10 means there might be opportunities for at-large spots in other bowls. Those bowls must take 7-5 teams first, though.

It appears there will be between two and four open at-large spots for 6-6 teams. N.C. State and Notre Dame are the only 6-6 teams in the BCS without an automatic bowl slot. Louisville (5-6, at Rutgers) and Arizona State (5-6 at Arizona) could get to 6-6 this week and occupy additional bowl slots.

Will Webb, executive director of the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, had hoped to consider N.C. State and was informed of the NCAA's ruling Monday.

“It's disappointing for us because I think N.C. State would be a great team to have,” Webb said. “Their fan base will be fired up. The rule is the rule, and we would have loved to have them, but it's not going to happen.”

Wake Forest, North Carolina, Clemson, Maryland, Florida State and Miami are the possibilities from the ACC for the Meineke Bowl.

North Carolina (8-4) will play in an ACC-affiliated bowl, but it's still uncertain which one. Chick-fil-A Bowl President Gary Stokan, who chooses first from the ACC after the Orange Bowl, said his bowl is likely to choose one of the teams with a 5-3 conference record – Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Florida State or Boston College. The Gator, Champs Sports, Music City and Meineke bowls, in that order, select next from the ACC.

The ACC already has had discussions with at-large bowls regarding N.C. State. The PapaJohns.com Bowl in Birmingham, Ala., can only select an at-large team if Troy (7-4) defeats Arkansas State (6-5) on Saturday in a Sun Belt Conference game.

Bowl executive director Mark Meadows said N.C. State will be in the running if the bowl can take an at-large team. Texas Bowl manager Heather Houston said her bowl selection committee also will consider N.C. State.

“N.C. State will be a team that a lot of us will want to look at, obviously,” Houston said. “It's a great conference. They're a great team.” "

dammit i was hoping we'd play in Charlotte

question about bowl eligibility and the oh-so-important extra practice allowed.

do you have to get a bowl invitation before you are granted the extra practice or just be eligible?

IOW, can TOB have the team running full practices this week?

it means we're improving, its something for the coaches to talk about when they're out recruiting seniors and more importantly the juniors at this point.

A bowl game means more practice, more time for the redshirts to improve, and national exposure...no matter who you're playing or what shit bowl it is.

Its not like we're fucking all world dipshit. We just need the practice and the exposure to validate the rebuilding job TOB is trying to do. If you want to be a fuck head and not get excited about it, go ahead, but don't ruin everyone elses fun.

And for the record, I'm not bitching aboutthe injuries, but its a valid point to make in conversation about our season...and I think its legit to say that we are a better team than our 6-6 record. (not that we deserve a better bowl, just that we're better than our record suggests)

i just blew snot out of my nose

so you are saying....now i hope you understand that on our 2 deep chart starters have missed a combined 70 games...that we wouldnt be better?

how do you get to that conclusion?

for half of the season we were with out 9-12 starters. you dont think playing walkons and young underclassmen had an direct effect on our record?
you saw what happened when we got healthy and had most of everyone back except for those that our out for the entire season.
