the lineman really had nothing to do with the fact that Utah had their way with Alabama on offense for much of the game or the fact that utah's secondary played extremely well

and the ole miss win just means the conference is deep, it doesn't measure how strong its strongest teams are

unless you're suggesting ole miss is one of the strongest teams in the SEC

you don't think ole miss was the 4th best team in the SEC at the end of the season?

i don't think ole miss is as strong as florida or alabama, despite the whole "beating florida" thing

if bama's o-line if full strength... they don't give up 8 sacks, the run game is more productive, the passing game is more productive, and they have even more control of the clock than they did. you obviously didn't watch alabama all year...

their o-line was their strength all year... just like wilson was our strength all year. it was an achilles heel this game for bama.... for the reasons already stated.

blah blah blah

if my aunt had nuts she'd be my uncle.

If can't honestly argue that if you had two fucking lineman that you would have won the game.

Whatever. Take off your rose colored glasses cause we didnt watch the same game.

And yes, I have seen alabama play several times this year, they didnt blow anybody out, got it handed to them in the SEC title game and in this game as well.

they blew out 8 teams this year...but that is beside the point. don't know why you brought it up.

and NC State can't honestly argue that if we had Wilson we would have won the game.

You are crazy if you don't think losing the player that some people think is the best in college football didn't have a huge bearing on the game.

However, that is part of football. Players get hurt, injured, suspended, etc. I'm sure Utah had guys missing we just don't know about for various reasons as well. Part of football, maybe even more so then any other sport due to the high number of injuries and the suspensions that always happen prior to bowls is having depth. Saban admitted during his press conference that an issue with their team was depth, and analysis have been saying that all year about Bama. Part of a great team and a teams strength in football is their depth, and to discredit Utah for their win because Bama was missing a player, albeit a great one, ignores the fact that this happens in football all the time.

But you don't know anything about football if you can honestly say losing your best lineman, the best lineman in football, doesn't have a huge affect on your team.

the blowout comment was more of a troll than anything else. I watched the clemson and uga games.

however, what you are saying involves a whole bunch of IFs. What if you could stop the wildcat late in the game. Maybe you would have had a better chance then too.

Having those linemen may have helped, but the poster is flat out assuming that alabama would have definitely won the game. I didnt see alabama show up on the defensive side of the ball, which, if they had shown up, would have made up for the holes in their offense.

Just be happy that you had a good year and will be poised for a run next year and got beat pretty easily by a team that, on this night, was much better than you were

I haven't read the thread at all, but its funny how a lot of these upset/suprise outcome games keep making the announcers talk shit about the BCS program and how it doesn't accurately determine the best team of the year.

the SEC is still 5-2 in bowl games which is only behind the Pac-10 who (outside of USC) were horrible during the season. Utah is a good team...everyone is acting like Alabama was just beaten by Elon.

Big 10: 1-5
Big 12: 3-2
Big East: 3-2
ACC: 4-6
SEC: 5-2
PAC 10: 5-0

What I worry about with teams like this is that conferences that the media doesn't suck off in football (ie. ACC, Big East) they are eventually going to do away with the BCS conferences and go based on BCS standings. The media loves the Big 10 god only knows why as they are the worst of the BCS conferences, yet they got 2 BCS teams Hope the Suckeyes get destroyed by Texas.

If Bama could defend a slant pass maybe they wouldn't have lost last night.

arguing about the BCS system is like arguing with a brick wall, there's always going to be teams that get screwed out of it. The only way to alleviate it is an 8 team playoff, but then there will be teams screwed out of that too.

texas should have played in the conference championship

you can't argue against the BCS and not agree with that statement

--------

i don't like how biased the int'l bowl crowd is

i'm guessing for another half decade or so thats how all of uconn's bowl games are going to be

the only reason our crowd wasn't MONUMENTALLY DWARFED last year at the Car Care Lolz was because it was wake forest...

Texas was two DBs tackling a receiver in bounds from going to the big 12 championship, the play before they dropped an easy interception too.

so why does texas deserve to go over OU? OU played better at the end of the season, i'm not sure what argument you can make for texas that you can't make for the other two teams. You have to take the team that was playing the best at the end of the season.

It was closer than the final score indicated. Penn State had the ball in scoring range with 45 sec left on the clock after USC center hiked the ball to the endzone. A quick TD pass and a successful onside kick would have really put a kink in the USC recruiting show.

So you really think that USC's defense wasn't playing hard in the 2nd half when Penn St. put up 17 points on them. If the rose bowl was played in happy valley Penn State would have won that game.

so if they played the game at Beaver, then Bradley would have employed man coverage instead of that typical 10-yards off bullshit that let Williams go off for 200+ receiving?

that game could have been played on a playstation and the outcome wouldn't have been different. PSU seemed unprepared, outcoached, outsmarted and unable to adjust

and don't get me started on the horrible misuse of timeouts near the end of the game

are you really serious?

USC would beat Penn St. 98 out of 100 times on any field you wanted to play at.

It may have been closer on playstation, but the game I saw was a one sided shit show

Plz to stop playing the big ten champ every year.

USC has a huge home field advantage. They are loose and they never have to get them out of their comfort zone. Make them travel and play Penn State at home and it would have been a different story. And no, Virginia does not count as a real road test for USC.

The first half USC won. The second half Penn State won. I didn't see a rout.

^^ you can't be serious.

I don't even like USC but i can recognize their dominance. Penn St. still LOST by 2 touchdowns. If not for two garbage scores when the USC defense had let up, it would have been worse.

If being down 31-7 at the half and getting dominated throughout the game is not the makings of a rout, I don't know what else.

As I said before, this game was not as close as the score indicated

Dude, why would USC's defense let up? They went all year long and only allowed 3TD in the 2nd half. Why would they decide to just give up now and let Penn State score 17 in the last quarters of the season? For a good defense, thats what they live for, keeping people out of the endzone. They don't won't anyone to score ever, even when the game is deemed to be over. It would make more sense if you said that USC let up on offense, but even that is not the case cause Sanchez was in the game the entire time.

PSU (11-2) 7 0 0 17 24
USC (12-1) 7 24 0 7 38

Its funny how Penn State was the only team this year that was able to get in garbage TD's against USC. I will agree that as far as Herbstreight or Musberger was concernd the game was over after half time, this allowed them to fully devote the second half to licking USC's ass.
