I saw some other site mention the Pats has a potential spot for him.

Well before we get caught up in Holt, the Rams have to first release him, then we can try to persuade him to come home. I really think he'll be a highly sought after commodity if his price is right. We'll be contending with the Eagles, Jets, Ravens, and probably Giants. Heck we might be competing with Dallas too, haha.

I keep hearing and seeing lil things about Pats making efforts for Pep, but I have seen more noticeable tries for Pats going for Jason Taylor. If that happens, I don't see Peps going to Pats. JT is not demanding as much money, great friends with Brady, and has already asked Brady to put in word with Bill B.

It is funny to think about Pats with JT & JT though lol.

Peppers for McNabb (cut Jake, pick up Leftwich)
Peppers for Cutler or 1st round pick
Peppers to Browns for 1st round pick

I like all of those.

^I realy like the first option there. When McNabb had a true number one reciever he went to the Super Bowl. Him, Steve, and the running game would be amazing to watch.

if we traded to the browns, would you rather get Anderson or Quinn?

If we traded to the Browns, I'd want their first round pick. I wouldn't want Anderson or Quinn. Mangini likes the athletic DE/LB types, so I could see him pushing for a player like Peppers.

If we free up cap space by moving Peppers, I'd like to see us grab an experienced QB who can manage the game, like a Leftwich. He wants a starting spot or chance, but after last year's debacle I think he'd sign with us with our running game, OL, and Smith.

Maybe pick up a CB for depth, like Ratliff or Craft in FA. Then in the draft we can take that Browns pick, trade down for more picks if we want, or go for a top WR or a DE(none of the CB's/S's are worth picking and I really don't like any of the QBs available).

as a Browns and Panthers fan, I would love for Peppers to go to cleveland, especially if it benefits both teams equally

but I also like the idea of McNabb coming to Carolina - I just dont think it will happen

I don't know. McNabb wants to wait and see what the Eagles do in the offseason to determine what he wants to do. All the Eagles have done is lost Dawkins, Buckhalter, and Thomas, three pretty good players. Maybe a trade of Peppers to Denver (which has a Belichek coach, so maybe a 3-4 defense), Cutler to the Eagles, and McNabb to the Panthers is possible. Im just throwing an idea out there.

I don't think it will happen either...I like Jake, but I'd also gladly take McNabb

I just think the defense needs more work than the offense

What if that trade involved Trent Cole, and end that can give us about 10 sacks a year, and maybe a second and third round draft pick. Maybe not the best trade we could get or Pep but we get a proven vet to play DE.

one way or another we need to bolster the defensive line

hell, if it happens to work out where peppers plays here next year (i'd prefer we move him)...even then we'd need some d-line help

imho at this time we have to dump pep before the season so we will have enough cap to address other needs (like the secondary and d-line)... then address the QB situation next year and pray jake can make it a few more years

i dont know how we are gonna be next year with meeks, but right now the D looks pretty weak

Well running the new Tampa 2, we need good safety play and linebackers need to be athletic and need to also be very good. At least I believe that our linebackers can really perform well in this system, but I'm worried about our safeties. They are not the greatest cover guys.

I'm not counting the DL because I dont know what its going to look like.

^ yea thats why i an all for trying to sign roy williams (or at least another safety)

ideally:

trade peppers (for a 1st or at worse the Pats 2nd from KC which would be like 34th overall; I actually am in favor of trying to get someones 1st for next year when we will have more cap room)
sign at least 1 in secondary that can contribute
draft a DL
hope next years QB class is deep (it is) and draft the future next year

All this talk of trading for a starting QB is crazy when we have glaring needs at Dline and in the secondary. The focus has to be on defense. This is a John Fox team.

We're alright at safety ... not great, but Godfrey is only going to get better, and Harris is a headhunter.

We've got to get a passrusher

I think the odds of picking up a solid DE in the 2nd round is much more feasible than the odds of us finding a decent QB in the 2nd round of a draft where QB isn't that deep. If we move Peppers we'll likely use our first 3 picks for DT, DE, and CB in some order. Godfrey will improve with more PT, and Harris was serviceable.

^plus the panthers are known to shy away from possible future franchise QB's in the draft and when they do draft one to groom, he gets buried in the depth chart until they release him....Cutler's value could be relatively low given the recent problems with the broncos, he's young, he's got a cannon and we have one of the best down field receivers in the game...seems like a good combo to me.

imagine smitty actually not breaking stride on a downfield pass, instead of having to circle back 5 yards and make a circus catch in double coverage.

I like Jake, he's still serviceable at this point in his career, but he's not getting any younger and cutler could be the franchise guy for 10+ years....

Scoring 30+ points a game, has a way of masking even the worst d, and our d won't be that bad.

I don't really care for Cutler either, but he doesn't whine and complain anymore than Jake does.

Jake complains about everything, constantly whining to the refs, one of the reasons I can't stand him. Partner Jake's whining and his poor performance overall last season, and then compound that with his big salary, yeah, give me Cutler. I don't think Cutler is amazing, but I'd rather have him than Jake this year.

Did you see the Oakland game? He almost pissed that game away single-handedly(4 int's). 15 TDs to 12 INTs, not including the playoffs, isn't good for a starting QB.

12-4

THE SKY IS FALLING

Nobody wants to remember Jake's 2-0 start to the season when Smitty wasn't there to "bail him out"

Or his comeback in the Green Bay game

Or his comeback in the Chicago game

Or his comeback in the regular season Cardinals game

etc

etc

etc

^Agreed.... After the Playoff game I was quick to degrade and say lets dump Delhomme, but after having a few months to think about it I agree with TreeTwista10.

Delhomme held it down when Smitty was not there and we did go 12-4. Take away those Int's with Oakland and Playoffs and he had very respectable year. Not saying he is our savior, but damn dude took us to 12-4 and playoff bye.

Now, with that said, if we could upgrade with a McNabb or Cutler, I would go for it, but I think I am more worried about our Defense coming up short when we need it.

Cutler can be a whiney ass bitch, but so can Delhomme...But Cutler has a fuk'n cannon!

I'm iffy about Jake, but let's also keep in mind the offensive play calling was terrible for the postseason game....toss the player caller to the wolves, not jake.

So I'm inclined to agree with ^ and ^^

Seirously. He's a whiny bastard who's not even liked by his teammates. He yells at his team when they mess up (even though half the time it's his fault). The guy has talent, but he's a grade-A douchebag

jake is the only guy who stood up and said "hey, this was my fault" after the cardinals loss. no one from our defense stood up like that.

so the people who just sit there and bash the guy can go pound sand.

Torry Holt was released from the Rams. It is plausible that the Panthers could make a run with the small amount of cap room available from the release of Lucas.

As it is, I think they burned that bridge.
