I'm going to give it a shot and try and get it repaired via the warranty. I'm fairly certain i bought my elite less than 3 years ago. If that doesn't work out then i'll have to buy a new one. may as well be the 250gb and new core.

Actually, I'm pretty sure this is a pre-cursor to charging for DLC on the PC. Now that people won't have the option of just selecting servers that don't require any new DLC, Infinity Ward can force people who want to continue playing online to pay for DLC. It's their way of making gamers pay a subscription fee without actually calling it that.

IW announced today that there will not be a PC delay of MW2, and it will be released on Nov. 11th along with the console versions!!

However I would take dedicated servers + delay...

not really, unless you're talking between core and hardcore modes, but they have different rulesets (hardcore takes away the heads up display (HUD) and bullets do increased damage (1 or 2 hit kills with most weapons))

coming from someone who played mostly PC online games his whole life, when i first picked up CoD:WaW on the ps3 last christmas, i fell in love with console gaming. I enjoy it a lot more than playing my PC shooters. It'll take you a few weeks to get the hang of the new style of control (controller versus keyboard/mouse) but afterwards it'll be like second nature.

I play COD4 on PS3, Halo x on 360 and TF2 on PC. As far as the difference between controls... it really depends on the game. I enjoy all three quite a bit, and once you get used to not using just one set of controls over a long period of time it's really not too hard to switch between. Every now and then an errant grenade gets thrown when switching between consoles.. but that just makes it fun right?

Kinda stoked about the KRISS and the other new guns on MW2.. wonder if I need to go ahead and pre-order...

^hahaha i do that all the time switching between halo, CoD, uncharted etc. I'll think i'm meleeing or reloading but end up throwing a nade and killing teammates.

sent off my xbox today...hopefully I get it back ASAP. Sucks because I was about to buy FIFA then realized I don't have a working xbox and I'm not quite desperate enough to buy it on the PS3.

I got RROD while playing CoD4 heavily. My whole plan was to level all the way up by xmas so I could ruin the holiday for all of the kids who got it as a present.

Of course it crapped out about 2 weeks before then.

You might get destroyed at the start, but after all the kids get it for Xmas it gets pretty easy.

^If I recall correctly, it's been confirmed that MW2 won't have Juggernaut as a perk.

There will, however, be a "deathstreak" called Painkiller, which gives someone 10 seconds of triple-health off their spawn. This is only available after getting 4 deaths in a row with no kills, will almost certainly take up a customizable slot that would otherwise be used for a killstreak, and is really just intended to keep bad people from getting spawn-trapped.

heh i bought uncharted 1 around the same time i got CoD: WaW, and the buttons for reload in uncharted and grenade in CoD were the same (R2), got so annoying

wow that is insane all those comments. just read through several pages of them to see what people had to say. this really is bullshit on the part of IW and frankly i'm second-guessing getting this game now myself for just this reason. i haven't pre-ordered as i was going to wait to actually buy it B&M release day; at this point i will continue to wait until hearing if any changes will be made. and i agree 100% with the one reviewer who basically said the PC enthusiasts and gamers were the ones who made the CoD franchise what it is now and because of greed, they are giving a big middle finger to us. and companies wonder why people pirate games...

but with all this, what are the realistic chances IW will actually do something regarding dedicated servers for PC?

CoD = Multiplayer

Pirating != Multiplayer

CoD4 is arguably one of the biggest games of the decade, the second installment had it followed suit would be just as popular, if not moreso.

They are shooting themselves in the foot with this move, and I really hope they turn this around.

it would cost me close to $1000 to buy everything I'd need for the xbox to play this game like i play it on the PC - not worth the investment. i'm going to pass on it unless they bring back these dedicated servers.

I think someone else might have mentioned it, but I think this is more Activision's doing than IW. Call of Duty is IW's baby, and I can't believe they would willingly cripple the PC version by doing this. My guess is Activision wants to cut down on pirating and boost profits, therefore they think this is the best way to do so...

not every PC gamer pirates games. granted there are a good amount but don't generalize and lump everyone in together. and console games (xbox, ps3) are pirated as well.

CoD4 you were able to do exactly that. they weren't official servers or servers that utilized punkbuster, but you still could get on 16+ person servers and play the maps just as you would normally. ever hear of hamachi? that's one way it's done.

you can organize a hamachi game with any pirated game... you have to know the people already to organize a hamachi game with them. we did it for cod5 waw too when it first came out and it sucked. it's not fun playing with the same handful of people all the time - those don't last long.

and neither do the non-punkbuster servers because cheats and all sorts of random shit is fair game on them...

- 360 wireless controllers have zero lag
- i have a wireless mic, no problems with it although i only got it cause my wired mic eventually broke...only issue with wireless mics is you have to eventually recharge them, obviously, which cant be done while using them...the microsoft wireless mic is like $20-$40 range iirc
- competition online on the 360 is as good as it gets...some n00bs, some super 1337 fucks, and a bunch of pretty good folks in the middle...not sure what you mean as far as anything like pc teams, but there are tons of game modes, from every man for themselves, to two teams, etc
- no need to fuck with the messenger kit...just send a voice message, or go to xbox.com to send them
- i personally think composite looks just as good as hdmi...you could test it out and hold off on the hdmi cable purchase
