RecZone C-League summer session starts this Sunday. Its 5 games for around $100-$110 depending on team size. I know our team is trying to get about 2 more skaters. Contact the RecZone to get placed on a team or let me know and I can probably get you on mine. Good chance to get in the groove before a full season starts.

For those of you who play pickup at the Iceplex and elsewhere, how does the level of competition compare? I'd love to get out and play two nights a week but i dont think that Im ready to play at a much higher level than was at Iceplex last night.

i haven't played at the iceplex, but i've been relatively surprised by how good the pickup has been at the factory and reczone. i was expecting a lot of old guys who had to balance on their stick, but it hasn't been like that at all.

Factory is great competition, its much more balanced that I've seen elsewhere. The IcePlex Thursday night session follows a C-league Learn-To-Play class so you will have true beginners mixed in with high level players. RecZone pick-up can be kids, former pro's, or c-league... no telling. Factory has the best experience overall when you factor in level, consistent attendance, and ice time (people are very fair about shifts).

If you want beginner level ice time then I would recommend the IcePlex class and pick-up (if you do the 1 hour class you get to stay for the 1.25 hour pick-up that follows). The class is good for getting back into skating shape and is usually lead by guys tied to NC State hockey (at least it was in the past). $12 is a good deal for that amount of ice time and you don't have to worry about someone skating circles around you.

On my way to scorekeep in Greensboro right now. I think I've got at least one A league game tonight, and a C- game which is the equivalent to watching paint dry. We're running one penalty box because the welds are broken on the other door. Those fuckers in the A league take this shit way too seriously, so I can't wait to see how this whole sitting in the same penalty box thing works

I actually played for the first time since May after some of the guys I work with at the rink stayed to skate after the public session on Wednesday night. I'm really getting the urge to join a league in Raleigh now that I have been working at the rink over break and reffing.
