I think it would be possible to explain Rita's death being Trinity killing the Morgans in response to the death of his daughter. They could say that the reporter/daughter was in touch with him, so he knew about Deb and when he found out his daughter was dead, he decided to go after Deb at the police station, ran into Dexter, noticed the last name and put two and two together and, thus, added him to the list. That would at least allow the time line to be correct.

The biggest problem I see is the Kyle Butler thing. Trinity's family could ID Dex as being someone that had been in their life for awhile. If they can figure out a way to explain that, I think they are cool.

^sounds plausible. Also, considering how afraid trinity's family was of him, I doubt they'll say anything at all to implicate Dexter in anything. I think they'll be happy enough to be out of that situation that they won't say anything. I seriously doubt the next season will focus much on these details.

I think Quinn will figure out what Dexter is doing. Unlike Doakes, he'll actually be cool with it and like the idea of killers that escape the legal system being taken care of by Dexter.

looking back the comment dex makes about rita looking at the same moon is kind of powerful because the moon plays a big role in dexters dark passenger in the books

As much as I want to rewatch some of Season Four, I think the original bathtub scene in the first episode will be too much knowing that that is exactly what happened to Rita

One question I have is whether or not Dexter was disturbed or upset about Rita's death. We know that his intent was to try to leave behind his "dark passenger" and become a family man, but we also know that the relationship - at least in its inception - was just Dexter going through the motions. Was there an emotional bond there, or is Dexter still behaving like an animal, driven entirely by his instincts, his will to survive, and the necessity of "fitting in"?

I'm also wondering how Dexter would go about telling the kids that their mother was murdered. A lot of these questions can't be answered until next season. I would almost have to say that the unanswered questions are the equivalent of a "season cliffhanger."

Dexter seemed to genuinely care for Rita and said as much. He talked about how disappointing her made him ashamed - one of the few emotions he felt really deeply.

He was absolutely upset about Rita's death. Over the course of 4 seasons, he has evolved from a controlled animal to slowly becoming more and more human. He doesn't have to force himself to be with Rita, he wants to now.

I'm re-watching season 1 right now, and the difference is pretty stark. How it's portrayed in the book may be a different situation entirely, I only watch the show.

hes def more 'emotional' (not in a chick or emo way) in the show

and dexters reaction is what got me in the rita scene. here is this serial killer finding his wife dead and his baby son sitting in her blood. his reaction in that whole scene was emotional for me

^^I totally agree, he definitely changed over the course of the 4 seasons. Maybe seeing Rita murdered in the tub will send him in a downward spiral back to how he used to be?

just read this on perezhilton

Quote :
"But it's only getting better!

Dexter executive producer/showrunner Clyde Phillips is leaving the show to spend more time with his family.

After spending 9 months out of the year in LA working on Dexter for the past 4 years, Phillips is eager to be at home with his family on the east coast.

"I lived with the people on the show for four years that were the high point of my career. But I was missing out on my family. I need to be part of my own life, immerse into my own lifeā€¦But when the time comes, something good will come along, or I will make it come along. I'm already champing at the bit, I'm already writing something."

Dexter has been Showtime's highest-rated show for the past 4 years.

24 co-executive producer Chip Johannessen will be taking over for Phillips.

We wonder if a change in the showrunner will affect their reign? "

thoughts?

24 has just gone downhill so much the last few seasons I cant see this being a good thing for Dexter.

^As funny as that sounds, done. the correct way, I could see Keifer making a badass addition to the show if they did it the right way and didnt gay it up.

dexter has an alibi for where he was. he was on his way to meet rita in the keys until he got her message (which wasn't until later) and then he came back home and found her. the main concern is still going to be the Mitchell family who all know him as Kyle Butler.

^Rita's message said she left her ID at home, but she'd still be in the Keys before him because she was taking a "puddle hopper" or whatever - which is what you call those really short connecting flights.

So if Dexter was on his way to the Keys, he would've gotten her message but not turned around, since he fully expected her to be there waiting for him.

he could call several more times and then say he found her hours later than he really did. just sayin. anyway, guess we'll have to wait til next season to learn anything.

couple speculations:

Angel and LaGuerda-- I'm hoping they're setting up this lovey dovey stuff so there will be some real drama going on next season... laguerda is usually such a bitch, her being nice is kinda off kilter and not her personality, so if they try to stay true to the characters, something will happen there.

Dexter and Deborah-- since they're married IRL, I doubt we'll be seeing any more sex scenes with them since we didn't see any this season, which means Quinn has to stick around b/c he's the only one worth watching having sex. Or they need to intro new characters... maybe a new hot policewoman...?

Next season needs more sex, but I dunno how that's gonna happen :/

LaGuerta needs to die. I don't like her character or the actress. Writers shoulda killed her ass first season like they did in the book.

The show needs more Masuka.

eh im seeing "cancer card" there at the end

anyway

wtg nytimes.. from perezhilton

Of all the news publications, you'd think the New York Times would know Dexter's Michael C. Hall has been battling cancer, right?

Nope!

The Time's Moment blog was tweeting during the Golden Globe awards on Sunday night and made this unnecessary and completely insensitive comment about the cancer stricken actor:

Is Michael C. Hall playing Bob Marley in an upcoming movie? Don't get the hat or what he is hiding under it.

What a fucking moron!

We assume the twat got bombarded with an overwhelming and mostly angry response from followers and later tweeted a half ass apology:

So sorry that Michael C. Hall has had cancer. Thanks for clarifying why he is wearing a knitted skull cap.

Idiot!

so i dont know if i will watch season 5. it sounds strange but i watched the show more for rita and dex's relationship than dex killing people. plus rita is hot. my biggest question is will dex take on their child plus astor and cody? or will the grandparents take rita's kids. seeing the emotional connection of dex to the kids and rita and the transformation of those relationships is what i like most about the show. deborah is so manly looking i just want to punch her!!!! even my wife hates her!

well I guess it is not for everyone, but I'm not sure how you could get bored. I very rarely find anything I enjoy watching on TV and the first season of this show just absolutely floored me. At least give it an entire season.

I don't know how you could call it boring. I guess if you just like shows featuring explosions and one liners and hate character development, I could see how you could be bored by it.

i just finished watchin all 4 seasons over the last couple weeks after hearing everyone talk about how awesome the show is and i have to say i can see where they're comin from. season 4 was one of the best seasons of a show i can recall. i am curious how trinity knew about dexter's origins enough to stage the scene with rita and harrison the way he did?

at the first bathtub kill in the first episode, didnt he spread out a towel to avoid the blood spill? seems kinda sloppy for his style. i mean this one was personal so maybe he was okay with that in this instance.
