A lot of the folks in my run club finish their long runs in one of the following excellent ways:

1) Drink a cold beer in the shower
2) Drink a glass of wine while taking a bubble bath

It's the perfect post-workout reward.

Well, when you're constantly exercising your metabolism is like a raging furnace. We can afford the occasional ice cream, wine, beer, etc. Olympic athletes consume like 3000+ calories per day.

My ideal weight, assuming an appropriate but modest muscular build, is 200-205

i've weighed as much as 290, and when that happened I woke up and dropped to 210 in about four months. I maintained that for a while...until I started working at bada.

over the last two years that place has fucked up my sleeping, eating, and exercise schedule (not to mention the availability of tragically tasty unhealthy food) and I've crept my way back up to around 250. I'm now on the slow track back to where I should be, I hope to be 205-210 by this time next year

y'all hold me accountable please, kthanks

"I'm 6'4'' and have been very skinny for the majority of my life. The most I have ever weighed was 233lbs back in 2004, and the least I've weighed was 200 in 2006. According to my doctor, I should be around 205-210, but that's assuming that my body fat percentage is under 20%. I felt fat when I was 233lbs, but in reality, it wasn't a noticeable fatness. Right now, I'm fluctuating between 212-218, which is decent for my height, but I won't feel satisfied until I'm down to 205-210 and under 16% BFP."

i am probably in almost exactly the same boat exact 10-20 lbs lighter

maxed out around 220-225 about 2 yrs ago after starting a job out of college and getting really lazy for a while. now i am at about 190-195 in prob close to best shape of life. however i have always been, and still am, skinny fat. i eat too much, but healthy food at least, usually, and have problem areas of love handles and a pot.

i think that depends on your definitions of "fat." eating right and exercises are luxuries afforded to people with certain minimum amounts of free time and funds. if someone is working 14 hr days, it is kinda hard to ask them to take 2 of the remaining 10 hrs to exercise and shop/prepare your own meals. however, if you called a person working 14 hr days "lazy", you might get punched in the face.

I saw 170 on the scale the other day and I wanted to go throw out all of the food in my fridge. I've started hardcore counting calories and trying to get off the soda kick. I only drink diet now and have tried to limit it to less than one a day, but getting off the caffeine is hard.

I go to Curves gym at least 3 times a week, but I've been really frustrated not losing any weight since I moved back to Raleigh in August. My goal weight is 136, which is what I was before I left for college four years ago.

Doing a food purge of your fridge isn't a bad idea. There are certain items that I cannot buy bc I will eat too much of them.

You're going in the right direction by limiting your soda intake. It's really bad for your teeth. If you drink diet, then the artificial sweeteners can make you crave sugar more.

"However, most men make the mistake of judging their fitness progress solely by pounds lost"

When it's large amounts of weight being lost, focusing on a certain number of pounds lost is probably not that big of a deal.

But when your range has been 7-8lbs for the past 2 years, and you're already relatively small...counting pounds is just about the only way you can tell. Especially when you see yourself in the mirror every day, it's hard to notice a difference without a scale. In general, it all comes down to how you look and feel about yourself...but setting a weight loss or specific pound goal is pretty beneficial.

I think you would find that number very very small. Especially in women who are fit themselves. And I think in most of the cases, it wouldn't be just that they find the defined abs a turnoff...it would be the whole package in general...as someone who is just way too muscular.

Correct, what I'm saying is the "ideal figure" in ads like the I GOT RIPPED IN 4 WEEKS ads everywhere is a little too much for some people

is preferable to

for some people

But you can always be thinner

You can always look better

^^ The top abs are sexier than the bottom, IMO. They look like abs that he developed while surfing, wakeboarding or playing some other sport. The bottom abs belong to someone who just spends a TONNNNN of time at the gym. He wouldn't have much time for a life outside of the gym, from the looks of those abs.

The difference between the two pics is only partially due to time spent in the gym. The biggest difference is body fat. (Of course genetics plays a role...)

As for the OT, 185 was my heaviest. I was somewhere around 13% bf at the time. That was 2003.

Over the past 6 years Ive fluctuated a bit, but it has been a steady decrease overall(though never with a higher bf%.) Due to across-the-board lifestyle, dietary, workout changes.

For the past 9 months Ive maintained a weight between 162-170, with a body fat never going above 8.5%, lowest being 6.2%

BEST. I'VE. EVER. FELT. IN. MY. LIFE.
