Well this is the best you could have asked for. If we can't beat Slovenia and Algeria than we don't deserve to advance.

You can't sleep on any team, Slovenia knocked out Russia who I generally hold in higher esteem than the US, but I'd rather see Slovenia than France.

ALRIGHT! The USA has their first match vs England on a Saturday. I'm glad to hear that. At leastI'll get to watch 1 game live. I'm about to graduate from NC State and could end up with a Monday through Friday 8 to 5 job.

SOMEBODY FIRE LALAS ALREADY.

He makes US soccer look like a bunch of full-of-themselves assholes.

He's sitting next to Steve McManaman, an actual former superstar who played at the TOP level of play and won two Champions League trophies in different countries, and he's spouting his mouth how the US can easily defeat England. Even if he's just bantering he's coming off like a god damn tool bag. It's almost offensive.

This brings me to another peeve of mine. There should be a rule that managers and staff must be from the country of their team.

^^^Totally agreed. If the players are held to this rule (with some BS exceptions), so should the managers.

The nice thing about America is that if I can't get off I can still watch the replay that will be shown in primetime on ESPNU without knowing what happened. No one in America gives a damn about the World Cup.

All things considered, great draw for the USA. If the USA can't beat Algeria and Slovenia, the side doesn't deserve a place in the round of 16. I fucking knew Mexico would get drawn with South Africa! Between Mexico and France, South Africa looks to be the first host side to fail to advance out of the group stage. Still, the host always has a strong advantage. The South Africa versus Spain third place game in the Confederations Cup shows how unpredictable South Africa can be.

^The worst part is that England should beat the USA which will put USA in position to finish second at best. The group D advancing teams play the group C advancing teams. That means USA vs Germany in the second round more than likely.

Is Tyler seriously going to be doing commentary? That would be awesome. The only way it could get better is if Lalas gets laryngitis next June.

Any place to find detailed World Cup rules including tiebreakers, number of subs on bench, etc?

^^, True, but unless a team is seeded it is a stretch to hope for an easy round of 16 game. Revenge for Korea/Japan 2002 quarterfinals!

The US won't make it out of the group, I already told JT, but I'm telling you guys.

Mark it down, page 7. US is in for an epic collapse.

England is going to dominate that ass.

I dono if I would say "the worst part." I mean I'm a huge fan, but swap us with any other team from our pot and find a group where there isnt a team that "should beat the USA." And yea Germany wouldn't be a great draw, but the winner of any group is going to be a solid team. At some point you have to start beating good teams to advance in this thing.

I can see all possibilities except an England dismissal from the group stage and the US defeating England.

i.e.

England - US Draw
US loss to England
US winning, drawing, or losing with both Algeria and Slovenia

I guess I'm too much of a realist.

nick has been slobbin some capello dong for too long now. you know we gonna rape england. who do they have that could possibly test our back line? rooney? defoe? lampard? gerrard? please, those guys are terrible. john terry is not gonna be able to handle eddie johnson at all. total mismatch in class. EJ will be dominating jt in the air all game long. cashley cole wont be able to stop holden running rampant down that right wing...and i got a source on the inside telling me an epic player that is unretiring to help holster down our intimidating backline. none other than jeff agoos is coming back to volley goals into our own net just to give england a sniff of a chance that they think they make comeback and win....

shit's in the bag. england will lose to us 5-2 and the world cup will be over for them as they cant regroup after that ass beating
