the ending was a diff story. with about 6 mins left and we just couldnt hold a lead, lowe ditched this crazy plan and opened the flood gates and put on an incredible full court trap. we got 2 or 3 turnovers in just a couple mins and f-ed them right there

^ don't confuse him. The ONLY thing that matters is scoring. We don't care if they're playing good defense, if they're about to foul out, or if they break their leg....as long as they keep scoring they should always be in the game!

yeh i knew javi [hammy] was gonna be out a bit. he had his pants on all the till 2 seconds b4 tipoff (only player to do that, everybody else was in shorts already) so i was suprised he actually started from the first play.

josh davis pulled 5 rebounds, only committed 1 foul...made 6 points, had 1 turnover and 1 assist 1 block and 1 steal....i really like this kid.

those numbers are not amazing by far but he was all over the court

I've gotta admit, I thought signing him was a mistake at the time, since all the stuff said about him as a recruit is stuff people always say about every unheralded player (he hustles, plays great defense, rebounds well, etc.) and they rarely contribute significantly at high major programs. But I've certainly been proven wrong this season, he has been amazingly efficient in the minutes he's played and always seems to get rebounds when we need them the most.

^ & ^^ couldn't agree more with you guys. I find myself just watching him running around giving maximum effort. It hardly seemed like he ever had a defensive breakdown and he was always applying pressure on the man he was guarding. Not to mention his tenacity around the boards.

i dont know if this has been said already, but regarding the substitutions... on the post game radio show Lowe said that mays was in for so long because he was really executing the offense... (i really dont agree with that, but that was why he was in [i think mays always looks clueless]).

in the pre-game show, they were interviewing Gainey and asked what he had learned when being under Lowe. he said that Lowe is an absolute genius when it comes to making changes and corrections, and that is what he learned most in his time under him.

so i guess... asides from smith being out cause of foul trouble and javi out cause of the hamstring thing. he was really just shuffling the line up until he found a combination that was going to work that night.

I hadn't watched this team at all this year until I went to the Elon game last night.
Lots of potential with our young guns, but this team still doesn't have an impressive rhythm on offense or defense. Javi looked very confident out there and we obviously suffer without his vision at PG. Smith and Horner -our best players other than Javi- are crap on defense. If that doesn't change:

NIT tourney is the best we can hope for this year...

the elon game hopefully isn't the best game to make a judgement on how the team plays. until last night, we've been playing pretty hard. last night we looked lethargic and out of sync. i'm not saying we're great or even good, but we're a better team than what showed up last night.
