youre saying that leaning into someone and dry humping them while putting an arm bar into their side is BS and not a foul?

I feel like tonight the refs already costed the celtics the series and they haven't even played a game yet. An extra game for lebron at this point in the year would've been too much to overcome. No way the cavs win the east. They just aren't that good. Now they have to play teams that can actually shoot the basketball, have real post threats, real 3pt threats and real depth.

One thing that can't be ignored is the fact that the Celtics won an NBA Championship 2 years ago with almost this same exact team, and they have NEVER lost a series with the Big 3 healthy. Does that make them the favorite.... well of course not. But the Celtics have shown flashes of absolute dominance this year, and they have played pretty well against Cleveland (if I remember right they went 2-2). On the flipside, they have had streaks where I was embarassed to be a fan. I think it should be an interesting series, and I would be shocked if it went less than 6 games either way.

My pick.... Celtics in 6.

It will be a hell of a series, but I see Clev pulling it out in 6, unless Celts have a streak of poor games like they had mid season. The Big 3 for Celts are very dangerous, but I can see Clev running the floor making the Big (but older) 3 for Celts spend alot of energy early.

Bulls matched up very well against Clev, and refs helped Clev end the series early. However, I think Clev was preparing for this series. It will be on!!!

The last hurrah for the Big 3 in Boston before Ray leaves this summer and Boston realizes their stuck paying a 15 and 8 guy 60 million to lead a 45 win team for the next 3 years

I'm a pretty big Cavs homer, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think I'm pretty fair with my predictions

before the Cavs/Bulls series started one of the espn commentators (jalen rose I think) made a point that the bulls wouldve finished 5th in the east if their team wouldve stayed healthy throughout the season. They didnt have really any serious, longterm injuries but a bunch of nagging injuries that hit multiple players - keeping them from fielding the same team for consecutive games in a row. The bulls got healthy going into the playoffs and proved to be a tougher team than their 8-seed would suggest. So with that said, dont let the way the Bulls pushed the Cavs in a few games fool you, they are a good team with young, energetic but experienced players who are matchup nightmares for anyone (especially Noah and Rose who will be a tough matchup for years to come)

The Celtics are better, and they do scare me since they are loaded with starpower. If they could focus on doing the little things right to beat the cavs, then I think they have a chance at winning. Also, if Lebron's elbow injury turns out to be more than a hit to the funny bone, and if he misses any playing time, the cavs will have a tough time knocking off the celtics. I think the celtics will need this sort of perfect storm scenario to beat the cavs.

When the starting lineup is on the floor for both teams I think the games will be close, the difference for me will come from the Cavs superior bench depth over the Celtics.

If Lebron plays every game with no limitations from the elbow, Cavs win in 6
If Lebron misses a game or two, Cavs win in 7
If Lebron misses more than two games, Celtics win in 6 or 7

To be fair, thats not an incredibly bold prediction, given that 5th-8th in the East was jam packed until the final week of the season. Nevertheless, they were better than a .500 team when everyone was healthy. I still say Charlotte was better, but they just ran into the worst possible matchup in Orlando. I think the Bobcats would've taken at least 1 vs Cleveland.

well I know that there wasnt much of a gap between the 5th and 8th seeded teams record-wise, there is a stigma that comes with being the last seeded team in the tourney. If the Bulls were a 5-seed and pushed the Cavs like they did, it wouldnt seem as bad as an 8-seed doing it.

Thats all I was really trying to say. the bulls were better than their record/seeding would suggest

youre retarded

He got fouled and shot free throws...made both of them so thats two points...they still lost by two.

if he makes the basket they count the two points plus another free throw...lets say he makes it...thats 3 points total. They still lose by one point.

either way...they lost.

You must've watched the wrong game. Cavs were not in the penalty so they took the ball out of bounds then gibson got hit as the shot clock expired and they called shot clock violation. Lebron went down and got a 3 pt play. The bulls were completely robbed of 2 points and 3 if rose made the free throw.

Lebron is already becoming banged up and it will only go downhill from here as the team is completely reliant on him for offense and defense. The nba could not allow the cavs to go up against a rested celtics team only to tire them out before going up against a magic team with only 8 or 9 games under their belt.

Time will catch up with the cavs and the nba will just have to deal with orlando in the finals again.

[Edited on April 29, 2010 at 1:20 AM. Reason : reggie miller went as far as saying the call costed the bulls 6 points]

they were in the penalty...i actually went back and looked at the play by play on espn to get that info to be POSITIVE. he didnt miss any free throws in the 4th quarter.

regardless it doesnt matter. they shouldnt have left it up to the refs.

but youre wrong.

^^why the hate for the cavs? kobe had his time and it was one of the shittiest periods in nba history (sorry those 76ers and nets series were just terrible), maybe I'll get tired of lebron after a couple of championships but for now let's move on to a team and a player that actually can compete with jordan in efficiency and is much more of a team player than kobe was

Cleveland will get tested in the Boston series. I think they'll take it in 7 games, but it could be 5 if they get their act together. They looked blah in the Bulls series at times but awesome when they were in sync.

Overall I think Orlando is a better team and is slight favorites to come out of the East. If they had homecourt advantage I'd give them a fairly large edge.

Tonight is a must watch Dallas-SAS game. Dallas has blown two 2nd half leads in San Antonio so they definitely can steal a win if they play well. They seem to really lose their composure though when things aren't going well and SAS gets bigger runs than they otherwise should.

They finally listened to me and benched Dampier for Haywood, lets see if that makes a difference tonight.

Quote :
"BULLS NEED 3-POINT PLAY BACK
The Bulls obviously had a tough time with the officiating early in the fourth quarter, getting whistled for 3 fouls while trying to guard Shaquille O’Neal in the post. Brad Miller got two of them and the referee signaled that Miller grabbed Shaq’s arm, which was apparent on the replay.

The biggest call of the game, though, came a few minutes later, when Rose was fouled by O’Neal, turned and banked in a fallaway jumper. Referee Ken Mauer counted the basket, then the officials decided to wave it off. By normal NBA standards, the shot should have counted and a 3-point play could have made a difference in a 2-point margin of victory."

Quote :
" —A key moment in the fourth quarter of the Bulls' 96-94 loss to Cleveland in Game 5 was a potential 3-point play that was wiped off the board. With 7:35 remaining, guard Derrick Rose was fouled by Cavs center Shaquille O'Neal. Rose turned and tossed in a fall-away bank shot. One of the referees counted the basket, but it was later disallowed and the Bulls never scored on the possession.

"It hurt. They say usually if you get fouled, if you dribble again, it's not a continuation," Rose said. "But I think I picked the ball up before I ran into him and they didn't call it. LeBron (James) got an and-one and it turned the game around."

If Rose had completed a three-point play there, it would have given the Bulls an 82-80 lead. Instead, James came down the other way and completed a 3-point play to give Cleveland a four-point advantage."

I agree that call was questionable and I thought the two fouls on Miller were absolutely OUTRAGEOUS.

Those were not fouls by definition, interpretation, or any other word you can think of.

I don't think those were conspiracy fouls by the league just totally blown calls by the refs.

I'm not sure what Brad Miller is allowed to do in that situation if he cant just stand there and hold his ground.

That being said, the Bulls were outclassed in the series and they weren't winning the series or NECESSAIRLY the game even if those calls went their way.

It's not like a week from now anyone will be debating WHAT IF if the Bulls had won game 5 against Cleveland in round one.

Now if they get Wade they'll be legit contenders for the next 2-3 seasons but until then it's hard to get too excited about a bad call in a meaningless series.

Let's focus on relevant moments...

and the NBA knows this, and loves it

who cares if you make terrible calls throughout a series that MIGHT ultimately dictate the winner, or at bare minimum prolong a series?

not the NBA, because it will be old news a week later
