12-man PPR league.

QB - Matt Schaub, Matt Hasselbeck
WR - Andre Johnson, Wes Welker, Robert Meachem, Lee Evans
RB - Ronnie Brown, Matt Forte, Fred Jackson, Reggie Bush
TE - Dallas Clark, Todd Heap
K - Rob Bironas
D - Arizona

I aslo picked up Dexter McCluster after accidentally drafting Matt Stafford.

So how did I do? I am pretty happy aside from feeling a little weak at RB. But I am hoping my WR, QB, and TE starters will end up putting up enough numbers to make up for it. Welker gets more touches than any other receiver so in a PPR league, he was a solid pick. Especially if he is healthy.

Quote :
"aaron rodgers, carson palmer
greg jennings, anquan bolden, tj housh, roy williams
cedric benson, ricky williams, cadilac williams, tim hightower, steve slaton, thomas jones
j shock
minn kicker and def"

QB - Rogers will put up numbers, and Palmer is a good BYE week cover.
WR - Jennings will likely put up numbers as will Boldin. Housh may put up something solid if Hasselbeck stays healthy. I am not a fan of Roy, but in theory he eventually has to have a good year.
RB - Benson and Ricky Williams will probably be solid. Ricky is also good if you make it to the playoffs, as the Dolphins play the Bills and Rams (both in MIA) in weeks 15 and 16. The rest will be good matchup guys. Play them the weeks that they are playing weak run Ds.
TE - Shockey is one of those guys that will occasionally put up good weeks, but there are so many weapons on that team that it is tough for one to get a lot of work unless they break one for a long run or TD.
Defense and Kicker are solid.

Interesting... Both of Schaub and Jackson are rated higher at their respective position.

That being said, I wouldn't want Jackson on my team.

Yeah I am not one to want Sjax on my team either. But when was still available at the 9th pick I figured I had to take him. I was very happy with my draft, for the most part I got people I wanted though I'm not the biggest fan of my first two picks (Sjax, Turner), but they were the best by far available at the time.

QB - Tony Romo
RB - Sjax
RB - Michael Turner
RB/WR - Shonn Green
WR - Miles Austin
WR - Steve Breaston
TE - Jermichael Finley
D/ST - Panthers
K - David Akers

Bench - Knowshon Moreno, Jahvid Best, Cadillac Williams, Wes Welker, TJ Housh, Devin Aromashadu, Kevin Kolb

8th pick, 12 man league:

QB Aaron Rodgers
RB Rashard Mendenhall
RB Jahvid Best
WR Greg Jennings
WR Chad Ochocinco
TE Owen Daniels
D/ST Chargers D/ST
K Nick Folk
BE Dez Bryant
BE Darren McFadden
BE Santonio Holmes
BE Jabar Gaffney
BE Kevin Smith
BE Tashard Choice
BE Rashad Jennings
BE Kevin Walter

I think i'm really going to like the rogers/jennings hookup. If people like Gaffney/Bryant breakout I could have a great year. Lots of question marks but when you're dealing with the NFL, it's all question marks when anyone could go down for the year..

you know, I said the same thing last year, but I ended up with him and was pleasantly surprised. He was a consistent performer, and got me points. I managed to pick him up again with the 10th pick, and pick Peyton in the turnaround (another consistent guy). We are in a 12 man league, with ppr and return yards/td's counted too (at 30yd/pt for return, and 20 for receiving). That is why you will some of the wr's I have in there:

QBs: play 1
- Peyton
- Hasselback
RBs: play 2
- Steven Jackson
- Beenie Wells
- Justin Forsett
- Darren McFadden
WRs: play 3
- Steve Smith (car)
- Josh Cribbs
- Steve Breaston
- Johnny Knox
- Julian Edelman
- Jabar Gaffney
TE: play 1
- Dallas Clark (I like the double points I'll get b/w him and peyton)
Def: play 1
- San Fran (thought it was a gamble, but I feel like they are gonna make some serious plays this year on defense)
K: play 1
- Josh Scobee - hell, it's a kicker, I don't know... He was the highest left on the list when I got him

The Forsett/Wells decision is gonna be tough every week...I kinda wish I coulda gotten one of the rookie rb's, but they just went too early for me to be thinking of them

it's hard for me to judge running backs like willams/stewart (or the baltimore or NYG, or MIA running backs for that matter). You just don't know who is gonna be getting the TD's, exactly why I stay away from ray rice

last year I had 3 different NYG running backs, and lucked out that each time I had one, they were the back that went off... but I can't press that luck

At that point you just have to hope for the best. Rushing by committee has made WRs and QBs that much more important in Fantasy now. And in the case of people like Dallas Clark, TEs as well.

I just go with teams that run the ball A LOT (Jets, Miami, Panfas etc.) and RBs whose teams pass a lot, but pass to the RB a lot (NO, Indy, Chicago, etc.). It helps to go with that second one in a PPR league.

Really like my team. 12 person w/ standard scoring. It is a "high stakes" league but people didnt draft as such:

QB(1):Carson Palmer, Chad Henne
RB(2):Jamaal Charles, Knowshon Mareno, Jonathan Stewart, Darren Sproles, Leon Washington
WR(3):Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Greg Jennnigs, Terrell Owens, Roy Williams, Legedu Naanee
TE(1):Owen Daniels
DEF(1):Saints
K(1): Garrett Hartley(saints)

Not really sure why Sjax is getting hate, he is the only real performer on that offense, and with a rookie qb they will rely on him heavily for sure.

Just drafted in 10-team league 7th pick: How did I do?

Qb: Brett Favre
RB: Steven Jackson
RB/WR: Greg Jennings
WR: Randy Moss
WR: Reggie Wayne
TE: Vernon Davis
D/ST: Bengals
K: Jay Feely Zona (will probably drop and pick another kicker up though.)
Bench: Ricky Williams
Bench: Hines Ward
Bench: Thomas Jones
Bench: Jahvid Best
Bench: Derrick Mason
Bench: Heath Miller
Bench: Matthew Stafford
Bench: Justin Forsett

Decided to go Running back heavy with the bench players to give myself some options for my RB/WR position. Don't think I will be benching Moss and Wayne so they'll just be constant at the WR positon

^ I think the concern with S-Jax is certainly warranted. You have a bad OL, a rookie QB, and the #1 WR out for the season. Teams are going to load the box and make sure they stop S-Jax and force Bradford to beat them.

had a draft on Saturday. Its a weird league.

-16 teams, its QB heavy though I'm not sure how they score so many points, just know if a QB was a solid starter he was more than likely in the top 60 of scoring last year.
-1 PPR, and RBs and TEs get a point for every 5 yards receiving (Dallas Clark, Vernon Davis, and Antonio Gates were all in the top 7 players in scoring last year).
-240 players get picked so you always end up with some back ups.
-QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, D, K, and one UTIL that can be any position but you'd like to have a QB in there.

Got slammed with the fucking 16th pick, so I had to make due:

QB - Rivers, Henne, Derek Anderson
RB - Lesean McCoy, Michael Bush, Ricky Williams, Fred Jackson
WR - Reggie Wayne, Malcolm Floyd, Eddie Royal, Devin Aromashodu
TE - Vernon Davis, Aaron Hernandez
D - Titans
K - Matt Prater

I'm pretty much thinking my season hinges on Malcolm Floyd (who eased my worries with 4 catches for 51 yards, a TD, and 8 targets last preseason game) and either Michael Bush or Ricky Williams stepping up.

Thoughts?

alright fellas, I have quite the conundrum. Who should I start as my RBs week 1?

-Frank Gore @ Seattle (he's definitely getting the start as my RB1)
-Shonn Greene vs. Baltimore (I drafted him as my RB2, but he is playing the Ravens and LT has been eating into his carries more than I'd like to see)
-Matt Forte vs. Detroit (he's having a good preseason, he is playing in Mike Martz's system and its against Detroit)
-Arian Foster vs. Indy (he's having a ridiculous preseason, Slaton might be questionable for week 1 so he'll get tons of carries) and indy's defense is suspect)

such a tough call, I really dont know which way I'm leaning, when I think I have it figured out, I make a good case for another player.

standard scoring? PPR? If it's PPR, go with Foster. If it's not, consider Greene, then go with Foster.

Regardless, do not go with Forte.

To tie a bow around Arian Foster, I love him and think he will be very successful this season. Ideally (for HOU to win games), the Texans don't throw as much as they did last season. They need to have balance to have a chance (New Orleans throws like hell but it was the running game that powered them through the playoffs). As strange as it sounds, teams were putting 3 in the box last year and dropping back to stop the pass because they knew HOU couldn't run it. That O-line and Foster are looking really good.

Foster, by all accounts, is poised for an incredible season. Not only between the tackles, but as a goal line back and coming out into the flats. I drafted him as my #3 RB (behind Mendenhall and Pierre Thomas), but it's very likely that he's a starter for me in week 1.

Start Foster and Gore unless something changes in between now and then.

word, thats the way my roster is set right now, but I feel bad not starting Greene when I drafted him in the 3rd or 4th round, and its engrained in my mind to start any decent player who is going against Detroit. I actually had my draft on August 15th and Arian Foster went undrafted, I picked him up on waivers a few days later, could be the early favorite for move of the year.

its a non-ppr league btw

how about this, who would you start at your WR3: Malcolm Floyd @ KC or Santana Moss vs. Dallas?

and should I drop Sidney Rice and/or Justin Forsett and pick up Mike Williams (TB), Jabar Gaffney, or Dexter McCluster? or should I hold onto Sidney Rice in hopes that he will come back healthy? My other two WRs are Randy Moss and Roddy White - solid

finally, should I start Jay Cutler vs. Detroit, Carson Palmer @ NEng?

or try to trade Jay Cutler and Shonn Green/Matt Forte for Aaron Rodgers?

^^^^ I too think Foster will have a big year

^^^ drop Rice and pick up Williams

^ It would be a great trade if you are trying to get Aaron Rodgers but Mr. INT and Fumblin Forte (6 last year) would be a terrible swap for the potential #1 Fantasy QB (and most likely highest fantasy scorer) for whoever owns Rodgers. Good luck with that deal.

Ok TWW (& Guru). I've never gotten much into Fantasy Football. We had our 13 person snake draft tonight in a Dynasty league. Here were my pics, many of which were Wolfpack bias, or 30 second time limit rushed picks. I need some feedback on how I did & how to proceed...

QB Philip Rivers, SD QB
RB Maurice Jones-Drew, Jac RB
WR Greg Jennings, GB WR
WR Dez Bryant, Dal WR
TE Greg Olsen, Chi TE
DB Adrian Wilson, Ari S
DB DaJuan Morgan, KC S
DB Bob Sanders, Ind S
DP DeAngelo Hall, Was CB
D/ST Eagles D/ST, Phi D/ST
HC Jets Coach, NYJ HC

Bench C.J. Spiller, Buf RB [Breaking News]
Bench Brett Favre, Min QB P [Breaking News]
Bench Jerricho Cotchery, NYJ WR

13 owners, head coach position, 1 RB, team defense, and IDP? That's a strange league.

I'm very concerned with dynasty depth at all offensive positions. I'd cut everybody below Cotchery (maybe even the whole bench except Spiller) and grab some potential. But it's probably too late now. You also need a better WR than Dez Bryant for this year.

See keeper/dynasty rankings at http://www.fftoolbox.com/football/2010/fantasy-football-keeper-rankings.cfm

Got pick #12 in the 12 team draft, along with number 13. Should I expect any of the elite RBs to be around? I expect guys like Moss, Wayne, and others to be around as WRs, but I'd like to get an RB in the 1st 2 picks. If I don't do that, will a guy like Jamaal Charles possibly be around at the end of round 3?

Also, where would you expect a guy like Arian Foster to be picked?

DROD. I don't think anyone could fault you for starting Foster over Greene. The Houston offense has looked really dangerous this preseason and the Jets have been struggling. With a matchup against Baltimore and LT's recent success, I have a question mark over Greene's head in week 1. With that said, Greene has been playing very well, despite being slightly overshadowed by LT. I still have high hopes for him this season, but right now, I'd go with Foster.

I'd let the quality of my bench determine whether or not to hang on to Sidney Rice. He's going to be out a significant amount of time, and there's no guarantee he'll play well late in the season. I'd dump him (or better yet, trade him) if he's going to be out for 8 weeks, but that's just me. I also came in second to last place in my league last year.

more reason to start Foster in week 1.

Quote :
"Steve Slaton (turf toe) wore a walking boot on the sidelines at Texans practice Monday, according to the team's web site.

Even though the team claims he'll be ready to go week one, the nature of his injury makes a return date pretty tough to predict. Besides, Arian Foster has a stranglehold on the starting job, and he'll handle every-down duties if Slaton can't go early on. "

you miiiiiiight get deangelo, but other than him they'll mostly be off the board. if you've got draft savvy managers, foster will probably be gone towards the end of the 2nd-early 3rd.

So I've just been offered these 2 trade options:

He's offering AP for:
Palmer New Orleans and Garcon
Palmer NO & Owen Daniels

(He autodrafted and ended up spending like $170 of $200 on AP and CJ)

My team:
QB - Jay Cutler, Carson Palmer
WR - Steve Smith (CAR), Marques Colston, D Bowe, Garcon, D. Mason, Aromashodu
RB - F. Gore, Jerome Harrison, D. McFadden
TE - Jason Witten, Owen Daniels
K - Longwell, Lindell
DEF - San Fran, NO

14 person league, PPR. Pick QB1, WR3, RB2, W/R1, TE1, K1, DEF1

I'm thinking option with Daniels, just worried about Cutler putting up 3 picks a game. Thoughts?

^^ Take the trade. Doesnt matter which one but Id go with the one involving Garcon. Palmer, a DEF, and a WR are well worth a #1 RB. Palmer is not a significant upgrade over Cutler. You should dominate with Gore and AP and your WRs.

^ Your team looks good except for RB depth as you mentioned. Youve got two good TE...try and trade one for a mid level RB. If you hold Cooley a couple of games his stock should go up and you might be able to trade for a 2nd tier back....McNabb loves the TE.

My bad, didn't know the "rule".

Available QBs: Sanchez, Leinart, Derek Anderson, J. Campbell, Sam Bradford, Josh Freeman, Tebow, Delhomme, Tarvaris Jackson

I don't understand the rule. I thought the whole point of the thread is to get FF advice from the Guru...and he only gives advice on about 3% of the questions on this thing.

If I'm going to post my roster and ask for advice, why would I want to receive it from anyone other than the self-professed Guru? Everyone else's opinion doesn't matter.

The Guru is overrated.

It would be like if Steven Seagal made a Karate thread.

You'd like answers from Steven, but answers from Van Damme and Jet Li would be valuable as well.
