Is this for real? You don't get many rebounds when you play the entire game 20 feet from the basket.

Didn't someone earlier also complain that his defense wasn't very good down low/in the paint?

Yes it's for real. He's not 20 feet away on defense when 60% of rebounds are made. Less than 3 RPG for someone 6'7" is atrocious. Brown averages a full rebound more than him and spends more time "20 feet away" as you call it. Of course you would disagree with me.

if every game was like this it would be much easier to handle

this is the first game against decent competetion where almost everyone gave effort from start to finish.

granted, they usually looked like they just started playing together today, btu at least they were exerting effort.

tonight showed us that if we try, we can compete w/ middle of the road acc teams. i bet if they knew how to play team basketball, they could surpass that.

Agreed, and I'm usually the first to jump on the Javi hate train

Other than a bad/too quick shot or two, he did exactly what a senior guard should. I don't know his stats, but he seemed to take better care of the ball, draw the defense with penetration, and look to get others involved.

I'll also add that CJ Leslie, regardless of the points, played a helluva game.

He took a few wtf shots (some went in), but i noticed a few times he had a 1-on-2 or 3 situation that he pulled the ball out and passed it off to a teammate. He didn't seem to force as much tonight. A lot of work still to be done, but hopefully he's learning that you are usually the most productive when you hustle and play hard within the system....not when you force things and are a ball hog

Great addition to the thread man! You did it this time without calling someone a dumbass.

It's not pessimism pointing out things that can be improved ya know? We beat a decent team for once. I seriously doubt anyone is pessimistic after this one.

What are the chances of us winning out and making a run in the ACCT and getting an invite to the big dance?

Agreed.

Wood is 6'6" btw. No player in the conference is taller than he is with a lower defensive rebounding rate. But whatever, that's not his game.

Good win tonight and we did it without Harrow or Brown having really good games. Javi and CJL were the keys for us in this game, hopefully they can keep that up. That officiating was by far the worst I'd ever seen in a game, and that includes games where Duke and UNC were involved, unbelievable.

So Brown who plays either guard position and guards the other team's 1/2 spends more time at the basket than Wood does?

brown penetrates more, although brown and wood's matchups dictate how much time they spend outside defensively

telling that your first comment ITT after our win was complaining about Wood's rebounds though

i'm assuming that was your first comment ITT after the game, didnt read through it all

By the way, at least we can take satisfaction out of fucking up other team's NCAA chances. This really hurts Clemson. 10-6 in the ACC gets them in easy. 9-7 and they probably have to do a little damage in the tourney. 8-8 and they're out. I live in South Carolina, so this win makes my life a little better.

And as much as I love CJL making those threes, I just hope it doesn't give him the confidence to start jacking them from anywhere. He's not a bad shooter, but he definitely has to be set with no distractions to make that shot.

I'd really like CJL to not shoot any 3's; maybe one per game, but only if he's wide open AND we're at home. He's shown that he has range, but he's just too inconsistent.

He has shown good restraint lately, which is nice to see. He's much more in control and is showing that it's more important to be patient and wait for someone to get a good shot.

Funny story,*

Last night with less than 4 mins to go when CjL pump-faked the 3, he looked over at Coach Lowe and laughed. Lulz-factor x10.

still can't believe the no-call on Brown on the layup attempt. Even the announcers were talking about the heavy contact during the shot.

At least Howell was there for the off. rebound and drew a foul. That sort of made up for it.

But still, you're gonna call a tight game with touch fouls and hand checks, and then that's NOT a foul?

Not to mention a few minutes before that when he went up for a layup and Clemson just hit his arms and there was no foul called.

So whats the consensus now? Win out, be 19-11 (9-7), win at least 2 ACC tournament games and lock up a 9 or 10 seed in the NCAA's. Seems simple enough.

Yeah, he and Harrow both seemed way off last night. Factor in the refs, and it's kind of amazing we won this game. Just shows that playing hard/physical for 40 minutes can go a long way.

watching the replay right now, damn that "two hands" foul call on Painter in the 2nd half was terrible. Mike Patrick saying that its "by rule a foul" is full of shit. Guys touch other players with both hands all the damn time, especially when said offensive player runs into the defensive player. I'm not even sure if he even touched him with both hands, Painter might've touched him with a finger from each hand, but it certainly wasnt enough to change the ball-handlers direction.

and then Mike Patrick gave us some more comedy gold by saying we need to give the student's section rule books. Then Len Elmore said, "yeah we should pass them out", followed by Patrick's, "forget passing them out, we need to charge for them, $2 a piece or 2 for $5". I cant stand that dumbfuck

I kept wondering if he was going to acknowledge and correct his statement from his last NCSU broadcast about us forcing Sendek out for the "more popular Sidney Lowe". He had to have gotten a lot shit the past week for that.

guess I had high hopes

i rewatched the 2nd half too and there was just some turrrible calls.

the one where Lorenzo went in for the layup and got clobbered was just inexcuseable (against Millington, or whatever his name is, and then Howell got clubbed by him too on the same play for which they called a foul)

I was sitting beside some Clemson fans who were bitching about Sidney standing on the court. It was LOL-worthy, they ran the 12 step gamut of emotions from disbelief-acceptance during the second half. Their shit talking made me lol, but mostly because we were winning.

yeah, I've noticed his court-stepping too. It's really bad. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten called for it yet by the refs this season.

He's come close to setting some picks for our players.

yeah, it's bad, i'd be pissed if it was the other coach.

i saw once where a dude squared up for a 3 right in front of sid, and sid came out on the court within a few feet of the shooter, yelling, jumping around and waving his hands. pretty funny since its my team.

If we were to win out (and 2+ wins in ACC tourney) we could easily be 5th in the conference and we would most likely be a bubble team at that point. You do realize 7 of our 11 losses are to teams currently ranked (most of which were away games) and we haven't really lost to a bad team this year (@BC or @Clemson are probably the worst). This isn't going to happen though so it doesn't matter.
