Good lord. Well I'd say you could throw back Vick, but it's a toss up to me after that who you would keep. I guess it depends on what your draft position is.

Evaluate this trade proposal

I get Cedric Benson and Lance Moore
He gets Jeremy Maclin and Michael Bush

Current starting RB's are Chris Johnson and Mark Ingrahm/Felix Jones (might start Benson instead if I made this trade, or use him if CJ holds out)

Current starting WR's are Reggie Wayne, Greg Jennings, and Jeremy Maclin (if I made this trade I would start Malcom Floyd)

I like that trade for you... Gives you some insurance for CJ, and Floyd is a solid 3 WR.

I assume you have a Flex so you could go CJ, Benson, Felix, Wayne, Jennings if you needed to?

Wow...I think I'd definitely keep Andre Johnson. Pretty much a toss up with the other 3. Depends, partly, on what draft pick you'll have I guess.

I'd keep AJ & McCoy. RBs with long holdouts have a history of injury, assuming CJ even gets his new deal before the season starts

yeah, unless you are in a 16 team league, both of those guys should drop (or someone is going to waste a pick on them by reaching) - people like garcon, but Wayne, Collie, and Clark are all targets before him, and Manning won't be in regular form for at least several games, if the past is any indication

AJ Green will likely suck this year with Dalton at the helm. I wouldn't waste a roster spot on him to be honest, unless you're in some kind of crazy deep league, or it's a dynasty league

If you've never done an auction draft before, I'd highly recommend it. 1000x more fun than snake drafts. Our league is never going back.

ESPN's doctor thinks Arian Foster could be out 3-4 weeks with slight tear in his hamstring. (via Clayton on twitter).

Foster actually tweeted his MRI results.

Are they actually going to let Tate play? I know he was a 2nd round pick and has had a good pre-season, but Kubiak was quoted on Monday as saying Ward was #2 and Tate #3. Probably just posturing on his part.

Ward is the #2 but the coach seemed to like Tate's blocking ability a LOT in the preseason. I have no clue who will start.

for example, adrian peterson is going to get 240 yds for the season and dallas's kicker will kick 2100 extra pts

Just wrapped up another draft. Goddamn I am gonna crush this league. 12 teams. Start QB, RB, WR, TE, K, D/ST, W/R, and OP (almost always a QB).

1(5) - Jamaal Charles
2(20) - Greg Jennings
3(29) - LeGarrette Blount
4(44) - Ben Roethlisberger
5(53) - Percy Harvin
6(68) - Shonn Greene
7(77) - Wes Welker
8(92) - Joe Flacco
9(101) - Steve Smith
10(116) - Dan Thomas
11(125) - Chargers
12(140) - Thomas Jones
13(149) - Kellen Winslow
14(164) - Sebastian Janikowski

observation: Is it just me, or are there tons of quality guys whose off weeks are 6 & 8? I found myself dancing around those bye weeks.
One guy in this league has six starters off in week 11, and he did the "draft a starter at each position before going for bench players" strategy. I always laugh at people who do that.

Nah no flex, in our league we start 2 rbs and 3 wrs.

But I went to Charlotte yesterday and when I got back today the trade offer was gone. I'll text him and see if he still wants to make the trade. His wide receivers are pretty weak so I think that's why he offered me such a good trade.

thats good news for one of my teams.

QUESTION:

I am in a 6 pt per TD league with QBs. 12 team league

first round...do i need to get a elite QB since they are worth that much?
or can I go with RB/WR till one falls in my lap?

im thinking going QB...

I am in a CBS league with 6 pts per pass TD as well. I had the 2nd pick and considered taking Vick/Rodgers knowing that TDs were worth that much. I ended up taking AP (Vick went #1) and like I figured the Vick, Rodgers, Brady, Manning, and Brees were all gone by my 2nd pick. At that point I decided just to wait for a Freeman or Flacco, and go hard after my RBs and WRs. Got Big Ben and Freeman in rounds 6 and 8 respectively.

Depending on your draft spot I would think:

Picks 1-5 : Get one of the top RBs (I would assume 1 of Vick or Rodgers will be picked in top 5)
Picks 6-8: This area would be the gray area for me, and my move would depend on how first 5 go
Picks 9-12: If Vick or Rodgers are there I would pick one as you can get a decent RB or Top WR with your 2nd pick. Or you could take a RB/WR that you want, and pick up a QB out of Brady, Manning, Brees in the first few picks of the second round.

I posed this question earlier:

Quote :
"From last season I am keeping: Chris Johnson, Calvin Johnson, and Hakeem Nicks. I have the 4th pick overall in the draft and am wondering if you guys think I should try for a QB there? The kept (unavailable) QBs are Vick, Rivers, Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Peyton Manning. I know it's sort of hard to tell and depends on other factors, but I've never played keeper-style before and was just looking for a little direction for my 1st round pick.

The top few QBs available are: Romo, Schaub, Matt Ryan, Roethlisberger, Freeman, Eli, Flacco.
And RBs are: Mendenhall, DeAngelo Williams, Forte, Ahmad Bradshaw, Jahvid Best. (non-ppr)
And best WR is: Fitzgerald, no one else of note for the first round.
"

And got some very helpful responses (thank you), but now that Chris Johnson and TEN have come to a contract agreement does that change anyone's opinion of me trying for a RB in the first round? I was all set to go RB in the first round, assuming Chris Johnson was still holding out. But now that he's got a new contract, does that change anything?

I think I would still go Mendenhall or another good RB...that solidifies your WR and RB positions, and outisde of Eli, I think the QB's available will all have good fantasy years.

Do you know the players being kept by other teams? If so, look at the teams that didn't keep a QB, do they have a bigger need for a RB or a WR than they do QB? Looking at the other teams should allow you to "game plan" as far as to what the other guys will do, and if their is a particular QB out of that bunch that you want, then go for it.

Yeah I think Mendenhall would be my ideal pick here. The way I'm looking at it, I think it's kind of unlikely Mendenhall falls to me. But we'll have to see how it plays out. 2 of the 3 teams in front of me are likely to take a RB or WR. And I would think Mendenhall would be the first RB to go, but I hope I'm wrong and he falls to me. The other guy already has 2 RBs so I don't think he'd take a RB with his 1st pick.

He still went 3rd in my draft last night. I passed on him, mainly b/c my backs I have picked in the 1st round always perform below my expectations. Foster already being injured was a red flag for me that I couldn't get beyond.

Agreed. I really don't want Foster to fall to me at #6.

Was going to take Lesean Mccoy or Andre Johnson (PPR) and don't want to be tempted.

Seems like people will be chomping at the bit to pick up Tate, and I don't want to worry about having to reach for the handcuff.

I tried to beat the Yahoo autodraft system today by excluding all the kickers and most of the TEs and Defenses (to only get 1 of each), and it "worked", but then Yahoo drafted me 9 RBs...one for every bench position

10 team, standard scoring, I drafted 5th.

QB Eli Manning
RB Ray Rice
LeGarrette Blount
RB/WR Felix Jones
WR Greg Jennings
WR Calvin Johnson
TE Dallas Clark
D/ST Bears
K Alex Henery
Bench
WR Anquan Boldin
RB Mark Ingram
RB Fred Jackson
QB Matthew Stafford
WR Mike Sims-Walker
QB Kyle Orton

Not happy at all with my QBs, of course.
Question is should I start Rice in WK 1 one vs. Steelers? He was shut down in both games against them last year so I don't know if I should expect anything different.

Standard (ie boring) scoring league. My 3 keepers were RB R Rice, RB M Forte, & QB D Brees

Want to grab a WR with my first pick and it's likely going to be out of this group:
Miles Austin
Mike Wallace
DeSean Jackson

How would you guys rank those 3?

i would never take any advice from anyone in this thread nor any fantasy football "experts". the only way people have an advantage in fantasy football is getting news faster (or of more relevance) than others.

until someone can prove a track record of consistently finishing in 1st or 2nd for multiple teams for multiple seasons without any shitty years or teams, I will then agree they are an expert, guru, or whatever else they want to call themselves. This includes all the dumb fucks on ESPN and yahoo who make money off of a webside lending them that title

^truth. This site is cool: http://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/accuracy/

They check the accuracy of advice given by fantasy football journalists. The best ones are only right 61% of the time. Most are hardly better than a coin flip. I've always asserted that you could resolve any question in this thread with a coin flip and do just as well as Panthro.

As an aside, the financial world needs a site like that. There needs to be a site where financial commentators are held accountable for their predictions, and every time they get on TV, their accuracy is posted right next to their faces so we know if they are full of shit or not.

That is my suggestion to anyone that comes to this thread with a player vs player "who do i start" question. Flip a coin, get it over with, and you'll take it a lot better if the guy u end up taking via conflip sucks than if some "guru" screws you over
