based on the line up and the scheduling, i'm really tempted to sell my vip's. i really, really hate to say that, too.

people are pissed about Thursday's lineup, but it looks pretty shitty all around.

and Saturday's main stage? sure, The Roots are playing, but having to sit through Escort first may make me murder someone.

one last thing -- why the fuck are Whatever Brains playing this thing every year while most other local acts seem to play once and are done.

Having Liars and Thee Oh Sees playing at the same time is a super bummer.

As for Whatever Brains, they're one of the best bands in the area (if not the best). They consistently put out great, interesting records and their live shows are never the same twice.

I really hate that I'm even saying this, but I'm really not sure if I'm gonna go this year. hard for me to justify buying the ticket.

I wish they would just scale it back, with better bands instead of more bands. I just don't see why so many venues are necessary. or why Saturday night is scheduled the way it is with Thursday being pretty bare.

also, there are at least 20 bands playing this that make and play more interesting music than the Roots.

i'm really excited for thurs because of liars. while oh sees are great live, they are always on tour. liars haven't been down here in a while, and the new record is phenomenal. also, i'm really excited to see guardian alien.

friday is where i'm having trouble. i definitely need to see chris corsano, but i'm not sure what to do after that. i feel like i always just watch rock bands at hopscotch, so maybe zola jesus or something?

I agree, I think the festival could only benefit from cutting down on the number of bands and venues. It'd help get more quality acts at the top AND make conflicts less of a headache.

Here's why I think I'm going to have a lot of fun at this thing this year: I threw all my expectations out the window. I'm not making a schedule other than I'm not seeing the local acts that play around here all the time, but if I wind up at those shows, I'll probably be okay with that too.

I think that's the big reason why I didn't enjoy it much last year; I made a schedule and tried to stick with it. Not trying to stress myself out on shit like that for a damned music festival.
